  • Sorry to hear about the wage drop. Maybe that was why the boss was nice to you, do you think they knew what was coming?  So hard to know what to say but is it worth telling them to stuff it and maybe looking for something else? Take the career path?

Food sounds good. Breakfast is a hard one for me too as I never fancy anything that I am supposed to eat!

Thanks Skinty, the bosses have no input with salary, it's purely a HR thing. The bitter taste is still around, I'm still tempted to 'resign'. Things would have been so different had a simple explanation been put in the email; the HR dept does have a poor reputation.

I'm finding myself in an awkward situation as I did originally accept the conditional offer based on the banding. Then accepted the unconditional offer based on the salary; as you all know the FTC time was halved by the time I got this.

Like SH, I do think any money is better than no money and frequently tell people they don't have to stay in a job, just use it to help reach a goal; same as I did with my last PS job eg to get a mortgage.

I am conflicted as this role would be a good one to have on my CV, purely as a transferable stepping stone to get me back into my career, with my studies being the main driver to that, but I don't play well with incompetence.

Just made a large iced vanilla coffee and my nibble box arrived; cinnamon fruit and nuts, spicy nuts, apple flapjack, orange flavour nuts and chocolate.

Got to crack on with studies as I've wasted too much time on this role and the issues that have come about.

I've dug out my t3ns machine and got hooked up to that. Today is a bad day as my upper dominant side isn't working as it should and hurts like a SoaB.

Had a reply saying all newbies start on the lowest amount and if I want more I have to put a case forward to my boss, who will either accept/ reject and put that forward for consideration. I really CBA with them especially as I won't be staying long-term.

I knuckled down, kept pausing the e-learning as I worked through each part of my assignment. I've submitted it to my tutor and whilst I'm not happy with it, I have done the best I can; it's an area I've not touched in about 20 years, when I originally began qualifying.
    - just waiting feedback so I can get on with amendments, each time an email notification pops up I think it's back. I can't settle and feel at a loose end.

Breakfast was a double sized iced coffee, lunch has been falafel, rice and Greek salad.

Its been warm and muggy all day, sun has been shining all afternoon and cat took herself off to bed as it's the coolest room, but still not that cool.

Part 1 and amendments have been done and approved, I did a celebratory shuffle; it's taken me 8 days with a lot done over the last 48 hours.

I'm doing the e-learning for part 2 tomorrow and making a start on the work straight after. I've got class again Monday evening for this part. Hopefully I'll get it turned round in about the same timeframe, but will know more in the morning.

I am trying my hardest to get all three parts completed over the next 12 days and so pleased I did take the decision to leave the last job and focus on this.

Had 'burgers' on gf pita bread for tea and I've got my feet up.

    Thanks SH and Skinty

It has given me much needed confidence and shows how different learning is based on how good a tutor is.

P2 is done off the back of P1, so I'll be busy for a bit, submit it to make sure I'm doing it right, carry on, do amendments and when that's a pass, I can do P3.

I'm trying to focus on each part, not think about the next one until I start it, and been frantically pushing P3 out my thoughts all evening and not mentally writing it.

I won't lie, rest is low priority at the moment, but I am taking frequent potters round the flat. I have a day off Thursday, but will do a bit when I'm back home.

The t3ns machine helps, until the timer runs out. Dreading taking it off when I go to bed!

I got up about an hour after going to bed as life was too uncomfortable without the t3ns switched on and this one beeps loud when the timer runs out.

I did my e-learning overnight for P2 and P3, set college access up on my phone for convenience. Got a few hours broken sleep afterwards 🤭

It's a warm day, windows are open and cat has gone to bed. I'm supping an iced coffee.

I'm about to begin working my way through P2 again and then I'll start the assignment. Got a tutor meeting after lunch (falafels, salad in gf pita bread) and I'll be putting spuds in the oven this afternoon for tea, having them with salad.

I am mindful of needing a break and rest during this 'career break', although I knew it would be study heavy having attempted this module before. If I fall behind my personal schedule and follow the proper schedule, it will eat into my evenings and weekends when I start the new job and I just won't have the energy; I need to 'bank' some ready for the next module.

I know the financial cost isn't much, but I've vested a lot of energy, mental process and physical health into this. I've had to overcome the feelings of failure from previously attempting it. Passing this quickly and efficiently will set me up for my remaining modules.

I procrastinated this morning, spent a lot of time looking at my regulators site, but it was a good use of my time as I've found lots of new information.

'Met' my tutor (have to keep correcting myself as I write teacher 🙈) and had a beneficial talk. We discussed this module and he thought I'd attempted this particular material before as I've done so well and got ahead with it. I explained what material I did do when trying before and he agreed it was hard at the time and random!

We spoke about my plans for the remaining four modules. I'm to stick with doing one at a time and when I finish this current one I can begin the next one or wait until the official start date; I'll have a few days off and start it as I need all the time I can get.

We discussed a particular module and it's huge, takes a lot of brain power and previous students have got disheartened attempting it; said I should consider picking a different one, if possible. We spoke further about it and as it fits in with my overall plans, I do need to do it. It will be my last module as I'll have the chance of resits over a few years without dragging in to another module.
    - I will give his suggestion thought though as neither of us are taking into account my location; I want the qualification and what it represents.

I made a start on P2, just need to do a few more words to write for section 1 (S1) and can move on to s2; I've five sections to do for this assignment.

I thought it would be so much easier if I could get two screens working as I'm hoping between various documents, e-learning, websites etc and I've totally gnarled my back, it's got to the point I can't sit up as my body can't cope with the weight of my head 🥺
    - no, I've not managed to get dual screens working either 🤨

Spuds are baking and I've taken my part drunk iced coffee with me as I lie down, can't even do the work off my phone!
