Thanks SH, there's loads of properties and I could compromise having access to views as they're only a short drive away up here, provided the garden was big and I could create everything I want eg fruit, veg, herbs, chickens / ducks. Having a smaller garden would mean I want the views and everything else.

It's a learning curve for me.

  • Thanks LW2G and Skinty

I'm in no rush to move, just like seeing what's around, where and for how much. I have found nice houses, bungalows and cottages, with each one I have different design ideas.

The estate won't settle soon, releasing the inheritance is going to take a while. I'm relying on sibling working to raise a mortgage. If I'm lucky it will be this year, if I'm unlucky potentially a couple of years (awkward to condense and explain). Again, it all helps with me building up more savings and I have to look on it with a positive light.

Potentially I'll have £10k in savings by the end of this year, with £90k mortgage borrowing capabilities, which would allow stepping up to a house / bungalow. The inheritance could then be used to turn it into what I want eg wall to wall glass at the back, opening up into the garden.

When I receive the inheritance I'll be able to look at £145k + properties, which increases each year I save.

The longer it takes the more I save up, meaning I'm opening up my price brackets too.
Downside is the more I spend, the more it has to be the finished article as there won't be the money to turn it into a Beeny or GDesigns place or have an aga, belfast sink and granite worktops etc as the flat equity wouldn't be sufficient.

I thought it was Monday when the boiler switched on, eventually after giving up trying to work out the day and panicking we would both be late, I checked my phone as the boiler switched off and everything began to cool down.

We've wonderful blue skies and the windows are open.

At some point we're going to T and I have to fill the car up. TomBo is going alone, but grumped when I said I'm exhausted.

Somehow I'll have to dig deep to have a shower and shave my legs, I don't know if determination alone will be enough.

I'm hoping it's just the usual winter weather affecting me and will keep a note of when / if energy levels improve. That way I've my end of year slump / new year uplift months and know when to expect the drastic changes.

  • Sorry you are exhausted.

Good to read you are looking at at houses. I can also see more coming onto the market.

The days are becoming slightly longer too, all hopeful.

Blue skies and open windows sounds good. Sorry your internal battery is flat. Best way is to let it recharge by doing as little as possible on those days.

    Thanks DIA and SH

There's always been a steady flow of properties coming on to the market. It's nice to see the styles, layouts and suss what would / wouldn't work for me.

My batteries are not charging, or are quickly discharging. If I had the energy I'd go back through my diary to see when they started working properly again!

TomBo did the shopping, filled my car and made cheese sandwiches for late lunch; I had homemade tomato chutney on mine.

Watching Bond and snuggled with a hot water bottle.
