The sound stopped working on our tv on Saturday night, it has been dodgy for quite a while and the tv is pretty old so we bought a new one yesterday. We are not particularly into massive tv's but we have gone for the next size up which is still pretty small by most standards I think, DH set it up yesterday.

Also bought DS a book in a charity shop for his birthday.

We have decided to pay our car finance off this week, we have the type of finance where you buy a brand new car, the manufacturer pays the deposit, you pay monthly for 3 or 4 years then still have a lump sum to pay or you hand it back and start again. We really love the car so have decided to pay what we owe now, save £300 in interest and be out of the finance cycle. We will be keeping the car for quite a few more years so it seems the best thing to do, after we have paid it off we will be putting 2 new tyres on it for winter.

Plans for today are cleaning, making black bean soup for tea, dog walking and running later.

  • Hello,

spend weekend as I did the big shop, bought DD some new school boots and stuff to finish off the kids' advent calendar I'm making. So probably no SFD but budgets still looking good this month.

Also started to look through the attic (will do lots of this over the holidays I think) thinking we had my dad's narrow gauge train set. We do have the trains etc but no tracks or wiring. So I stuck two of the engines on eBay to see if they'd sell. No point keeping that stuff in the attic if we can't ever use it.

Finished one diary (habits, gratitude etc) and starting a new one today. 50 days left in this decade, lets finish it strong.

I'm full of the cold but I'll drag myself to the gym at lunch time and at least do a cycle or sth.

Off to catch up on the posts I missed over the weekend

    Apologies for lack of posting.

Thursday - went out for bday meal, used vouchers so cheap meal and reasonable drinks bill.
Friday - day off work and finally got a decent coat with a hood, that fits me. Glad of the down in this weather. Also got a blouse I had my eye on, that will do me for xmas nights out. Slightly over my clothes budget but I am nowhere near my going out budget, and in this weather I may be staying in most of this month. So can still manage to stick to budgets.
Saturday NSD was going out for brunch but got dd and kids to come to mine instead. Cleaned office after and a brisk walk.

Sunday NSD - went for a lovely drive past snowy mountains and had a good walk with new coat keeping me warm. Bashed my head on a branch only downside and football result.

De cluttering I need to get a move on.

    NSD 6/15

    Grateful for
    Warm office and home
Daughters photos in NZ in exact spot The Lion Witch Wardrobe was filmed. Made me smile.
Ex boyfriend finding me yesterday whilst I was out walking and caring about my bump on my head.

Oh! That never occurred to me! Got to think about that. Thanks, thriftylass.

  • Number 6 checking in! Hope you are all well and have had a lovely weekend. Hugs to anyone who wants/needs one x

Grateful for 3 things - That my black cloud is lifting and is getting further away, I feel like normal service is resuming. For friendships, both in real life and on MSE. For opportunities that I have at work.

NSDS - 8 at the moment, which I'm feeling really proud of myself for - unheard for usually!

Remove 60 Items - Tricky one for me as I had a HUGE clear out last month, and donated in excess of 60 items to my local Barnardo's shop.

Outings - Cancelled last Saturday nights plans, going to friends for a cuppa and a mince pie (I'm not a Christmas fan, but I love a mince pie!) No plans for the rest of the week.

Use up Toiletries and cleaning stuff
    - This is going really well, and has really focussed my mind. I even stopped myself buying some of the limited edition Zoflora yesterday as I still have 2 full bottles at home. I'm also using some eye cream as a face moisturizer, if it's good enough for my eyes its good enough for my face! It was sat in the bottom of the drawer as I never use eye cream, thought it would be a good use of it!

Budget - This is going to be pulled in by the skin of my teeth, after I had to pay for my MOT and 2 new tyres, but fingers crossed I can do it.

Pay to Debts/Savings first - Money to retirement fund paid in!

    Avoid Coffee Shops / vending
    - easy one for me as I don't tend to go out to coffee shops much.

Lunch to Work - Always do this, usually pretty boring like crackers and cheese....

Donate - Not been in to town so not seen my big issue friend, volunteering at the night shelter starts later this month.

New Habit - Limiting myself to 3 coffees a day - it's hard going but I'm getting there!
  • NSD No 8

I was going to out today to collect medicine from the chemist but it was such a horrible day Himself offered to go for me. So I stayed in did the Boy's ironing (lots of it) and made a spaghetti sauce from what we had in stores.

I slept very badly last night or rather I hardly slept at all so I've been napping all afternoon. Not very productive but I do feel better now.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Evening everyone :D
Another couple of nsd's chalked up, which isn't that surprising considering there's no money left. I'm happy enough though - I have a job, food to eat, a roof over my head and am nice and warm in my home with 2 fantastic kids and my kitties. I don't need much more than that.
The biggest issue I have at the moment is that I don't have enough hours in the day to finish off all the crochet projects I desperately need to before Christmas.
So I'd better stop gossiping and get on.
Hope all is well with indigo, and your sil Toni'sfriend.

Not something I would usually do but gives me an extra day to prepare for my interview so I am choosing to put my needs first

Today I am grateful for dd walking home with a friend and all the awkwardness between them evaporating, for getting a dr appt (and finding out that I have a virus, so can't do anything), for starting to feel better, for WSM (yep, up to 2010, still going strong :rotfl: [Anyone notice what I did there??]), for a crisp day, for my cousin popping over.
