Managed to have a NSD! I think it might be the first ever in my life. I needed milk but I got my boyfriend to pay.

Went for a walk, did paperwork and boring phone calls so productive day.

Grateful for mobility, lovely wool t knit with and my lovely dog.

Set up a line of shampoos etc that need using up first. I don’t need about 25 bottles of shampoo/conditioner!

I'm not with you guys on the Fishermans Friends, I think they taste nice for about 2 seconds then ghastly. I used to like Victory V's and would eat them as sweets as a kid.

Dropping DD at work this morning then going for a nice run in the dry, I will run on the cycle path I think, it loops through a golf course, farmland and then into town so it will be quite nice apart from coming off it and running up a long hill to get home.

Another non fan of the fishy friends here (don't like victory vs either) - my go-to is Strawberry sugar free Streps1ls - I buy them when on offer as they are so expensive otherwise. I always have a supply in as my weak area is throat and chest infections

No plans as yet for today. It's a chilly one (although I know we are milder here than elsewhere in the uk) -;stay warm, fellow turtles :)

    #20 checking in

Budget - Sticking to budget - nothing to be spent today

NSDs - 5/15. - Today we're staying in all day so no money changing hands :D

Lunch to work - Home-made lentil and bacon soup sent in with hubby today.

Items removed - 10/60 - Going to spend some time sorting the kids rooms out this morning so hopefully they'll let me add some stuff to this. Had some interest on a couple of the selling items too.

Outings - 1/2 - next one planned for the 17/11.

Daily fresh air - Supposed to be cutting the grass back ready for winter today - it's flippin' freezing though so I'm not sure I want to be out in this cold. We will see.

Gratitudes - Weekends with no school and no school bus-runs. Chocolate flavour toasting waffles....oh my word they're delicious! Wooly jumpers for keeping me warm today....brrrrr.

New habits - Routines mostly done already today...just need to sort laundry.

Freezing here - hubby had to de-ice the car for the first time this year this morning. Couldnt find the de-icer! I'm supposed to be sorting the garden out this morning - I don't know whether I will be able to feel my fingers/toes if I go out there but it's supposed to be raining all week so I don't know when I'll get another chance.

Oh my goodness my toes hate me! They got cold yesterday and have been hurting ever since. grr
For full disclosure, I think fish friends are disgusting, but are totally worth it for all 4 kids faces after me telling them they would not like them, and them insisting they would be fine. Priceless. DH is happily scoffing them and they really do seem to be more effective than the yummy sugary nonsense. The local cheapy sweetshop had run out of Army & Navy sweets which are my usual go-to cough sweet. I did get some sugarfree strawb streps1ls from £land but you only get 8 in a pack, so a 2 day supply. Filled up on 50p Halls too. So the throat sweetie tin is full.

Bitter bitter cold this morning, and there is snow forecast for west of Brum and Wales today. Second week of November already so can't really complain. Thick frost on all the cars still. Brrr
Not going to claim a NSD yet, so will stick to 4 and do my best. Need to put more screenwash in the car-hole (technical term) I have a full squirty of de-icer left from Feb, as now that DS3 has discovered the scraper (and I rediscovered the spare) he can help out and save on the squirting.

Mr T's has a new(ish) range of plant based stuff - I don't eat much pre-messed-about-with, but the greek style shred is the house new favourite. Veg soup made last night while I was in the kitchen anyway.

The hummus situation is dire - Aldee/Sains/Morris all have recalled theirs due to possible milk contamination or salmonella outbreaks in the factories. So ds4 is going to have to eat the homemade stuff or starve. First world problems!

As today is 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, we are having sausages and sauerkraut and paprika potatoes. Gueten Appetit! Blimey. 30 years.

  • Morning everyone :coffee: :hello:
I've had a really busy couple of days at work and literally just been too tired to come online in the evening, but I am grateful to have survived the first week back and only 6 more to do.
I've only been up a couple of hours (with a headache) but I've been busy. 2 loads of washing done and drying, swallowed a couple of phone call frogs I've been putting off (including a massive one), washed the dishes, hoovered and changed the litter trays.
I continue to be skint - did the shopping for £47.60 this week which is great for the three of us and the new habit of the spending diary is proving to be a real eye opener.
Also continuing using up my stash of wool. I was almost finished a blanket until I realised I'd been doing the border on the wrong side so I've had to undo it all. I have plans for finishing my next project though. :)
Today's plans - I have to go out to pick up a couple of click and collect Christmas orders. Hoping not to spend anything else unless I find a nice bathrobe for ds in Primarni.
But first I really need to get rid of this headache :(

Another declutter item: kitchen equipment thats so illfitting to my current cookware, I've actually stored it in the airing cupboard :o The sunk cost fallacy got me good there. Time to let go. 6/60.
Two more items: a little painted terracotta thing from Spain, that I love but has bad associations, and one of those huge check bags you still see occasionally - used to be used for the launderette (yikes!) or for taking stuff on planes when it was unlimited carry on. I think I just used it in the house, to store duvets, but its been taking up shelf space for years. Time to go. 8/60.

Hobbies: I knitted myself a Remembrance Day poppy! Found a pdf online that was so simple even I could follow it.
2023: the year I get to buy a car

The fall of the Berlin wall. I was studying in Nancy, nearish Strasbourg when it happened. I remember the american students all dashing over the border to go there, and thinking 'what's all the fuss about?'. Pesky rubberneckers. D'oh. Not going is one of my few regrets.
