There's change coming to improve the forum, right? One change is that usernames can't have a space in them any more (hence my username layout) and that's improvement is it, because it looks like regression to me.

Good luck everybody for February 3rd.

You just need to apply "Hutbers law"
This says that any much heralded improvement, usually by some corporate body, actually masks a deterioration in the service for its customers.

Coined by the late Patrick Hutber city editor of the Daily Telegraph and originally written about financial firms who would write to their customers in proud terms about some new "facility" which no one wanted while for example closing the local branch.

Or you could apply the old engineering rule of "if it ain't bust don't fix it" as modified for the days of IT to now read "if it ain't bust keep on fixing it until it is".

I read somewhere that the email you use for logging in doesn't have to be the same one registered for the emails, so if you have another email address try using that to log in.

Ive only ever signed up to the forum, And the only Emails im getting is the Forum system messages.

I cant remember if the bottom bold part was there before.
Sorry, we couldn't find that email address

The 'Forgotten Password' email field is case sensitive and has to match exactly what you registered with (we're fixing that!) so you may want to try again.

Please stop putting the pop-up about email address across every single page, including obliterating the log-in page when arriving with a device that hasn't been on here in a while.

Seeing then clearing it once is enough.

Given that I've now had my IP address banned in my preferred browser, and the one I'm using now still has this issue with the latest message about forum changes, this has become rather tedious.

With any luck, both issues might go away by next week, but I'd prefer there was a bit more than only luck involved.

    Ok, so I'm in.

And I finally found 'bookmarks' which seems to replace 'Subscribed Threads'.

But when I click on one it takes me to the start of the thread, which I'm not interested in.   I want to see the latest posts, and that seems to mean scrolling to the bottom of the screen and then clicking on the final page number (which may not include all the new posts since I last visited.   Is this really the way it's going to work from here onwards??

(I also don't like the spacing while I'm typing this post!)

    Well I'm in as well

OK, first thing I found also is that the old SUBSCRIBED is now BOOKMARKED

Clicking on the title of a thread in the past would take you to the 1st post ..

.. I think it should now take you to the LATEST (looking at the URL when you hover on it) but currently takes you to PAGE 2 - think this is because the new forum has NO KNOWLEDGE of "where" you have visited a thread in the past - it needs to learn again - so if you visit the LAST POST NOW, when you do it again that is where it will return you to.

Something else - I appear to be getting EMAILS for posts being made on threads I've NEVER had NOTIFICATIONS turned on for - ONLY EVER had 1 thread with Email Notification enabled - ALREADY had 3 emails for 2 other threads in the last 10 minutes

I've clicked on PREFERENCES to see if I can turn them off and nothing seems to happen

AND IT'S RUNNING SO SLOW !!!

AND I CAN'T POST THIS TEXT IN THE COLOUR THAT I WANT TO

AND I CAN'T USE THE EMOJI THAT I WANT TO

AND THIS EDITOR IS EVEN MORE REALLY REALLY REALLY SLOW

    EDIT UPDATE
Regards the spacing - IF you want a "new paragraph" just hit RETURN ONCE - it will automatically put a BLANK line between that last lot of text entered (hitting RETURN NOW)
AND the NEXT line you type

Well that did't work - try again - 1 return
    more text - 2 returns

    3rd line after 2  returns

OK - so that's NOT the issue - there IS ONLY 1 line between the above paragraphs at he start of this post - the reason the spacing looks wrong I think is because of it "reserving" room for the maximum size of text you can enter - just look at the size of the CURSOR in this EDITOR

One thing I have noticed - after an EDIT and SAVE COMMENT - the BLUE bar and "settings COG" - that you click on to do the EDIT - is now BLANK WHITE with an "invisible" COG until you refresh the page
