    Fellow insomniac here 1LL :(
    I have been awake since about 3am. Debating whether to ring the surgery about my cough and wheezing, but reluctant as the doctor will probably prescribe high dose steroids, which make me feel awful. Will see what today brings, not too bad at the moment. Haven't rung the surgery, had a couple of attacks today but not as bad as the last couple of days
    Anyway, I intend to do the following:
    Have already eaten toast and marmite for breakfast (at silly o'clock), to use up the end of a loaf. Keeping to proper mealtimes is going to be a challenge today. Managed it, surprisingly :)

    Wash hair and allow to dry naturally. It needs cutting really, but I don't want to be coughing all over the salon :( Waiting for OH to wake up so I can go in to get my hairbrush. I have been relegated to the spare room with my cough. Done, also ordered some more shampoo bars as I am part way through my last one (though they do last for ages...)
    Wait in this morning for a freecycler - hope they turn up! She messaged to say they were running a bit late, so went out this morning instead of this afternoon. She turned up just after lunch :) Got rid of a big box of excess kitchen stuff to someone moving on from an abusive relationship :( Pleased to have been able to help her out a little bit.
    Sort out some items for my sales unit Done, took them there and sorted out / tidied sales unit. Bought a few things back and have already put them away :T
    Do monthly food bank donation shop if I go out later (not moneysaving, but makes me feel better and hopefully helps someone out who is having a bad time) Done :)
    List at least one item on ebay Managed 2 :T
    Do some housework, I will try 1LL's 5 minute suggestion! Got OH to drag huge centurion tank of a vaccuum cleaner upstairs and cleaned festoons of cobwebs from bedroom ceiling :o Also did bathroom floor. Spendy alert, I ordered a new, lighter cylinder vaccuum cleaner to replace The Tank after its annoying hose fell apart at both ends (again). The Tank works fine, apart from having a hose that tends to come away from the machine and the attachments, and weighing a ton, so I shall sell it, spelling out its drawbacks, to someone stronger than me, or with fewer stairs! It was given to me about 8 years ago, so it really doesn't owe me anything. One annoyance less!
    Water anything in the garden that needs it. I see we have had some rain overnight, but not enough to do any good! Done, also picked beans, tomatoes and raspberries. Decided to leave the French beans, which have collapsed and are therefore hard to pick, to ripen, hopefully, to pick for dried beans at the end of the season.
    Coffee, lots of coffee!!! Not done too bad considering :D

    Hi everyone :wave:

    Sorry to hear you've been awake most of the night Dawn and 1LL. :(

    I need to think about what to do about my mortgage today. :( The deal the broker found me gives £350 cashback and that is the only thing that makes it better than staying with my current bank. I wish I'd known this before I started the whole process because I would categorically have said it wasn't worth it - ages on the phone, talking to the most annoying man I've had to deal with in ages, delays with them doing spot checks/peer review on my application etc. Now if I want to go with it I need a letter from my employer and to send my payslips etc. Not really an issue (but as I'm not at work it is still a bit of a pain), but I could save all that hassle and just accept the offer from my current bank on online banking!! V tempted to do that. It's not like I'm actually saving £350, I just won't be getting money I've not got at the moment anyway... :think:

    I also briefly thought of doing the unthinkable and using equity we've built up to pay off the £18k loan. :eek: Please talk me out of this! :eek: It's just that at the moment with me on maternity leave, I'm using all my pay and dipping into savings to pay off debts so freeing up around £400 a month sounds tempting...but then it will only be for the next 6 or 7 months (and I have enough saved for this) so I probably should just hold out...right?! :eek: :o

    What else:
    - Bread is in the bread maker :D
    - TOMM hall and stairs
    - Chicken in slow cooker later
    - WM on quick wash
    - Need to start thinking about home insurance
    - Scared to think about car insurance - we've only got £340 saved for it and that is for one insurance due next month and another in November... Don't think it's gonna cut it...! :naughty:

    Catch up soon everyone

    Morning all. Another tired one here but doesn't sound like I slept as badly as some!

    Today I have/will:
    * Check banks
    * Open car renewal quote - actually cheapest option is to renew!
    * Wash load on 30 eco wash
    * Take lunch to work
    * Snaffle a plaster from work
    * Park for free for hospital appointment (longer walk)
    * Update spreadsheet with spends and re-allocate excess insurance money
    * Check PA/OP
    * Hang washing on airer
    * Dinner from stores
    * Put water into car washer bottle (attempted this morning but couldn't suss out how to open the bonnet!)
    * Wrap presents

    That's everything I can think of for now! Hope you all have a good day!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,435.00
    Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)

    The advice always given on this forum is that you NEVER EVER move unsecured debt to secured debt - not sure if that is what you mean?
    LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013

    On the rare occasion I think about getting a loan I look at what the cost will be over the course of the loan taken. Every time I am :eek: and decide to either use savings, knuckle down and save or go without. But that's just me and I have low material needs and my desire to be saddled with debt again is even lower!

    Hi, can I join you all? Have a substantial amount of debt to clear and whilst I've got myself organised to tackle that, I think the little things will be a big help too.
    I've already put the credit card away (although have one final payment to make before its clear) and one of the biggest savings will be stopping buying lunch/coffee's at work - so more organisation at home (TOMM) and more home cooking. I actually made bread last night and it was lovely! Felt very homely making packed lunches with it this morning!!

    Today I have:
    Put on a load of washing
    Checked the bank accounts
    Done online shopping and booked recurring delivery
    Seen eldest off to first day at 6th form and youngest back to year 10.

    I will:
    Hang and dry and crucially PUT AWAY washing Done
    Maybe do another load Done
    Ironing
    Quick scoot round bathrooms
    Make beds Done
    Vac through
    Walk dogs
    Go for a run
    Make something for dinner Done, plus a soup for tomorrow's lunch
    Fill big gap round door frame where the water's getting in :eek:

    ...so not much!:D
