What small DFW things will you do w/c 2nd September?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

  • Morning :) thanks for starting the thread purps.

Today I am looking after a friend's child, school starts tomorrow but she goes back to work today. Good for mum brownie points in the bank ;) We are planning a dog walk, a painting session - madam needs to do her homework - and a trip to a massive play park which is about 30 mins away :D

    Other than that:

    * TOMM
    * check meal plan and get anything out needed ;)
    * actually finish putting names in madam's things - I have 2 items and they have been sitting on the kitchen sides for days :o Will do it straight after posting!
    * dig out birthday card for ds' gf and post. It's her birthday tomorrow! Will order her a book on pregnancy as they are expecting
    * need to buy ds his birthday gift as it's his birthday on Sat!
    * ask oh to print off a pattern for me :D
    * make some time for sewing
    * list 2 things on fleabay
    * listen to free audio book (actually it's a podcast but same difference!)
    * go to the allotment this evening for an hour

Think that's my lot. Not feeling great today, woke up feeling anxious (which isn't much of a surprise as I went to bed feeling anxious). Hope you all have a good day x

Morning all and thanks for this weeks thread PF.

Last day of the holidays for us so the priority is to be ready for school. Ds2 is going up to secondary school tomorrow so there's lot to do to try and get him organised.

Oh and I've been awake since just after 3am and downstairs since just after 4am so today will be powered by :coffee:

    Today I have/will
    * go to the gym and refill my water bottle there. tick
    * do the little sewing jobs (ds2s trainers, my duvet & ds2s shorts) tick & tick plus a little hole in a jumper
    * start a meal plan for the week tick to display on the fridge for all to see!
    * pay boys pocket money tick and get them to update their cashbooks
    * wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash tickand hang out to dry tick
    * and repeat ^^ tick and tick
    * put login pass codes back onto the kids gaming consoles, they've started leaving them on stand by  tick
    * make spanish omelettes ready for the boys breakfasts tomorrow morning, going to try this instead of ds1s usual scrambled eggs on toast. As both boys will be getting ready and needing to leave at the same time they'll be able to grab this whenever they're ready rather then me complaining at the eggs going cold on the table! tick
    * label label label.... bags, lunchbags, coats, shoes, togs, gym kits, pencil cases... stand still long enough and the kids will be labelled too ;)tick
    * update banking spreadsheet
    * rm survey
    * ring the local sports centre to see if we can prebook a badminton court a couple of nights a week, the kids have really enjoyed playing in the holidays (until ds2 broke his arm!) and see if they have any block booking discounts available, I don't think they will but worth asking.
    * go to the trampoline park if we get chance for ds1 decided against as I had a thought about broken arms!!
    * set up a new regular saver as one of mine has matured (this might be on my list for several days!)
    * update freezer list
    * print a return label off for the rainforest people, they're refunding me for a gaming headset that ds1 bought in Jan that has developed a fault. (will use reclaimed rm paper to print it on too!)tick, will post tomorrow when posting an rm survey
** ds1 made us some American savoury pancakes for lunch - I got him to make some at the weekend and I thought the batter looked too thick but didn't know why so decided to be with him whilst he made another batch.... instead of 1 x 5ml spoon of baking powder he'd put 5 x 5ml in. Todays pancakes were much nicer and he made a note on the recipe so that he understands it better for next time (he then made the omelettes with a little bit of help I didn't make omelettes successfully until last year!
** claimed £7 worth of rain forest people vouchers from rm surveys
    **

Thats enough of a start. Take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all, and Happy Monday to you.

I've just got back from the gym, so that's one thing ticked off my list for today.

    This morning I will
    - do some 'end of month' stuff for the business (reconcile the bank statements, chase unpaid invoices). Done. Not one single client who was supposed to pay us by today has actually paid us. If the money isn't in the account by tomorrow, they'll be getting my 'Level 1' email. It's a little game we play (I know they'll all pay in the end). But believe me, you don't want to be on the receiving end of a Level 3 email...
    - clean the basement (basically the utility room and the space where the cat gets fed). Done
    - clean the car if the weather holds.Done. I'm on a roll!!
    - check in with a friend who I might be meeting for a coffee tomorrow. If she can't make it for tomorrow then I'm going to go Out, but the place I want to go is cheaper if you buy tickets online before you get there, so I need to know what's happening!! Not heard from her yet.
    - have scrambled egg and smashed avocado (thank you Aldi) for lunch. I need to have a substantial lunch because at 3:30 I will. Next on my list
    - go to work. Work until 9pm. I only get a 15 minute break, but will take a couple of sandwiches and some fruit with me, then have something more when I get back home.

I think that's enough to be getting on with for one day!!
And it's 9 o'clock, so best crack on!!
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting us off Purps :)
Lots to do after a weekend away, but unfortunately my virus seems to have resurfaced with a vengeance
Anyway, see where we get with this lot:
    HG raspberries for breakfast
    Walked dog
Load of tomatoes in oven to roast for sauce
Load of washing in, will peg it outside once done

Loaf in BM as there is no bread left and I certainly cba to go shopping today!
Pick garden produce: courgettes, tomatoes, runner and French beans, cucumbers, raspberries, last few blueberries
Make a spinach and feta pie, to free up freezer space *home frozen spinach takes up quite a lot of space.
Got mashed avocado out of freezer for lunch
There is beef stew in the fridge for dinner
    Some housework
Will see how far I get!

Ugh, ended up going to bed for a couple of hours this afternoon as I felt awful. Just wish I could stop coughing! Anyway, I felt a bit better when I got up, so have done most of the things on my list (though not the housework, to be honest). Made my spinach pie this evening, and used up the rest of the pack of filo pastry to make a large pear and almond tart and a small quiche. I found space in the freezer for 8 trays of tomato sauce :T and put the washing out once I got up this afternoon - better late than never, and it is mostly dry.
OH helped to pick the fruit and veg, and I gave the neighbours some more beans :) I watered the few things that really needed it.
OH pulled out a trough of small onions / overgrown spring onions, and put them on a tray in the conservatory to dry out a bit. I will use them instead of ordinary onions, and for salads until they are used up.

    Hi everyone

Thanks to PF for starting us off
HK - hope you are resting!
Dawn - hope you're feeling better
    Ally - enjoy your hols
DNMS and ccl - hope you feel calmer today

I've been so busy it's been a struggle to post. We were at a wedding all day Thursday (very little spends though so great!), then recovering Friday, then friends over Sat/Sun! OH and I treated ourselves to a walk round a nearby gardens on Sunday which was expensive (£15 for the two of use to get in!) but it was nice to relax after such a busy one.

Back to normality today and work already being ridiculous. They seem to think I'm in charge of 4 projects simultaneously. Which is impossible. And very silly. I have batted that idea straight back to my manager and left them to it!

I feel very unsettled of late though and I think that I need to get on top of some home things. Feel like there's something I should be doing but I don't know what!

    Today's mission:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores - done
:heartpuls Charge phone in work - done
:heartpuls Message beautician to book nails for pre-holiday (not mse but an important part of my wind down) - done
:heartpuls Start adding passport numbers to booking - done
:heartpuls Gym at lunchtime to air my brain - I'm def starting to get some of my strength and stamina back
    :heartpuls Check PMP - done
:heartpuls Keep an eye on elec usage. Seems very high this month?? - hubs had left a light on all day!!

    Have a good one all
