I've posted in a new thread need some advice re budget car insurance - need to cancel my policy and they are trying to charge me £250 to do so only £20 cheaper than if I kept on paying for a car I wont even own - they are trying to say its in the small print but how can they honestly get away with charging me this much? I understood I would have to pay a fee but this is ridiculous - I had to cancel a Churchill policy once and got charged about £50 not the full premium!

Can someone help out? Wish i'd never gone with Budget!
  • Hi,

I am new to this but am looking at saving money on car insurance. However, I want to ensure I am covered. I am confused about whether to add business miles to my car insurance. I travel to and from temporary work places. We do have an office but I visit there only once a week so it doesn't really act as a base. I usually see 3 clients a day and travel around yorkshire and humber. Do I need to include business miles?

  • I had my car insurance renewal today (okay yesterday as it's now 9 minutes past midnight:)) and it was £14 cheaper than last year. I feel as though I should phone up and complain about not receiving the enormous increases that many people claim to be getting.:)

last year we got our car insurance for about £350, the cheapest I have found so far after using the main insurance comparison sites is £520.

Are other people getting increases like this? nothing had changed in our situation.

    + any ideas gratefully received.

Yes - do a search on here for admin charges and you'll see they are common when making changes to a car policy.

Have you tried CSIS? They're not on the comparison sites.
If you are a Civil or Public Servant (or have been - ever, or are married to one) you can use them.
They don't charge admin fees or interest to pay monthly and save quite a few people a lot of money on here, so worth a try if you're eligible.

Just keep them on the policy then if thats the case unless removing hem would qualify for a significant reduction ie they are a young driver
