You're right in what you say. To get around this problem you can give a slightly different name/address and use another email address until you think youve gotten the best deal.

thanks for the reminder to do it this way.

This could explain why my 2 house insurance policies have not tracked.
I cleared cookies and generated new quotes. Even though companys stats say tracked within 1 day, it has been 4 days now.

Although succesful in the past I'm not sure I'm going to rely on cashback anymore.
  • Hi does anyone know if you can go direct through trinity lane insurance and miss the brokers out. i have been with herts insurance company for some years now and my insurance itself is down to £139 a year fully comp but by the time they add all thier admin fees on its £250 which I feel is a bit harsh. Any suggestions ?
  • Is it worth paying the extra for legal protection cover? I have had this 'extra' every year, but looking to cut costs - is this one l should NOT cut. Any advice welcome, thanks.

Its not really possible to give you a definitive answer because its like any insurance, if you don't need to claim its money spent for effectively nothing (other than peace of mind) but if you do need to claim then your glad you have the cover.

Legal expenses cover is relatively cheap so I would say pay for the cover.

Just had our renewal quote come through today from Admiral. It was £479 when we took it out last year and the renewal came through as £736 a "slight" increase. So straight on the phone to them - the reply i got was "I have seen insurance prices rise this year but can't see why yours has risen that much". After explaining that by getting a quote as a new customer on-line was £440 this year, she some how managed to actually get the renewal down to £370!!!

Well worth a call to them!!
  • Is gap insurance worthwhile? I'm buying a new car with a loan. Should I take out gap insurance?

I always thought that if you try all the various insurance sites a seach is made on your credit report and can affect you getting credit or is that not now correct.

    No that's incorrect.

Thanks for that but do you know if any footprint is left on your credit file.

There is no relationship between doing a search for insurance and your credit file.

However, should you select a specific company for your insurance, and elect to make the payments on a monthly basis, then that individual company will probably leave a footprint on your credit file.
