your proof of bonus will normally last for 2 years after the date in which your policy lapsed/cancelled as long as it was a private car policy..0

Has anybody any experience of telling their insurer that they now have a home abroad and that thier UK car will be on their drive in the UK for 25% of the year and in an airport car park for the remaining 75% of the year?
Just wondered what sort of reply I should expect from my insurer?0 -
I think you'll get quite a cold reception from any car insurance company with regards this increase in risk if they would indeed continue insurance with you at all and could put a seven day cancellation on your policy when this new information comes to light.
where you might get a better response is if you where to leave the car at home and travel to the airport by some other means then allowing you to suspend your policy either totally or reduction to theft cover only no accidental damage at all usually minimum of fourteen days and policy documents would have to be returned. the refund in your policy is then calculated when you come back as you get back money for the time suspended it does not extend the life of your policy over the twelve month period..0 -

It is fine getting the cheapest insurance you can but beware of charges that may occur when making changes to your policy.
Example: change of registration no(Cherished plate)£21.00.
to cancel a policy £45.00 its no wonder Santander can afford to run F1 cars.0 -

It may well do, since the vehicle will be insured to be at another address overnight and if you park it in a garage now and propose to park it in the street at the new address, then that will affect the policy premium. Not only might you incur a change of address fee, you may also find that the premium changes if where you relocate to has a higher risk rating.
is there any way out of this situation - maybe going for a regular insurer and avoiding the admin charges and premiums to certain extent - I understand that the area, address, street parking woud change the premiums0
