By check your "profile" I mean they will check the details they hold on record (ie no convictions) are correct.0

The only way you will get a definite answer is to talk to them about this - but as previously posted, there is realistically only a couple of reasons they would invalidate the claim - if they don't insure anyone with your offence on their record, or if they see your non disclosure as some deliberate fraudulent act.0

Dirty tricks. I ran a red light in July 2010, received NIP in Nov 2010. Renewed insurance in Nov 2010. Convicted Feb 2010. Admiral insurance have now charged me an increased insurance premium backdated to my insurance renewal in Nov 2009. This is a rip off. Has any one else been conned in this manner?0

Do you mean Feb 2011?
If so, write and make an official complaint. It no joy refer the complaint to the FOS.0 -
Here's hoping one of you knowlegable people out there can help.
My car was recently hit whilst it was parked, and I was indoors having dinner. My neighbour heard the crash and saw the perpetrator driving off - so I duly gave his details to the police and my insurers. A check by my insurers showed that he is uninsured :-(, so obviously I'm not happy.
Apart from the fact that I have had to pay the excess to get my car repaired, I have been told by my insurers (Aviva) that this will go down on my record as a 'fault' claim as they haven't anyone to claim the cost of my repairs from.
How can this be my fault? As I will have to declare this 'accident' for the next 5 years when I re-insure, I'm also going to be paying for damage to my car that I had no control over, for a very long time.
Surely there must be something that I can do to ensure that I don't get penalised for having my car in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Thank you

Quick question for the money savers out there...
Just got my car insurance renewal through and it's £993! This is from Aviva. I've got 9 points on my licence (all from 2008), but still, it's gone up £150 from last year.
I've done all the comparison sites and looks like I could get it down to £868 (plus £35 cashback with quidco) with Admiral. I am about to try Aviva (my current provider) as a new customer to see what it comes up with as they are supposed to offer great deals to new customers. My question is this:
If I cancelled, then went a day without insurance and signed up online, would I be classed as a new customer?

I have been driving for 40+ years continuously and never made a claim on my insurance apart from one time arround 2000 which was fully recovered. I regularly look for insurance deals at renewal time and this time I chose "One Call" to insure with (September 2010) When I filled out the online application form, I stated I had 15+ years no claim discount. I have now had a letter saying that my no claims discount has been reduced to 7 years and had a no fault claim added to my policy demanding a further £100+ to be paid.
The accident refered to was a lady running into my car rear 18 months ago, which caused no dammage whatsoever to either car or occupant but was reported (as demanded by insurance comanies) and no further acton or claim made by either party. I contacted "One Call" and they agreed that this accident should have no bearing, but my previous insurer had handed over written proof of NCD for 7 years only. For maximum discount One Call require 9 years. After telephoning my previous insurer,(NIG) whom I was with for 2 years, they said that the insurer before them (Churchill) had only passed them 5 years NCD. I contacted Churchill and they confirmed their maximum NCD is 5 years so they only ever pass on 5 years. As I change cars and insurers every couple of years, this is as far back as I can go so how can I prove my unblemished record now? Once upon a time you got a renewal notice with the NCD on it but this hasn't happened for years now. Does anybody know how to regain the lost NCD years without policy numbers (or even companies) as I dont have any paperwork and even the cars involved are long gone. I feel cheated here for no fault of my own.0 -
Evening all,1st time posting on here, seen a really nice 2005 VOLKSWAGEN POLO 1.4 for sale,I'm 24 turning 25 next month, and going to be a first time buyer, spent a few hours today looking at insurance prices for fully comp and the prices are way higher than I imagined.
The city has one of the highest rates of insurance, but some of the prices have been way above what I had imagined, the cheapest so far has been 2,749. Has anyone got any ideas on how I can get this price down to a reasonable level.0
