Nonsense.
The 'base' premium, as you call it, is the cost of the cover; it's just a figure you and the company agree to agree on, same as when you buy a kettle, or anything else. It can change when any of the details - owner's address, year of cover, security system, annual mileage - change.
I'd be more open to your argument if your language was more precise. 'A finite amount' means 'an amount which is not infinite'. I think you mean 'a set amount'.challenges : AFD : SNC :

No details of the actual insurance cover have changed, they are all the same. The ONLY difference is that an accident occurred and we have moved on one year. Therefore the price should be the same (plus possibly a little for inflation). It is not. Hence the reason why I say what is the point of having NCD protection - they are going to increase the insurance inordinately anyway.
FYI I did the exercise of putting in the the differences for insurance quotes and it confirms what I have been saying. For being in the wrong place at the wrong instance in time just once in thirty-odd years has more than doubled the quotes whereas reducing the NCD by two years increases the premium less than 10%. So much for paying through the nose for NCD all these years.0 -
