Hi there,
this is my first time posting on MoneySavingExpert and was hoping some of the community could provide some insight into an issue that I have run into with Tesco.
Having been made redundant and loosing the use a company car I purchased and took out insurance on a new vehicle at the end of November.
Having sent a copy of my previous NCD to Tesco (still within two years of being issued) they mistakenly believed this was proof of NCD for my sister with whom I used to share an address, thus sending her a letter stating the proof of NCD was unacceptable!
I therefore rang Tesco this evening to inform them of their mistake and was told it would be necessary for me to resend them the proof of NCD. The lady I was speaking to then went on to say that Tesco would need to review the NCD due to it being toward the end of the two year expiration period and that they may not accept it.
The crux of the matter is that had I been aware that Tesco would not accept my three years NCD then I would not have taken insurance with them in the first place and would not be liable for the cost of the higher level of premium without NCD that Tesco claim they would charge me should I wish to cancel the policy if they are unwilling to acknowledge the proof of NCD from Admiral.
Do any of you have advice as to my next step should Tesco refuse my proof of NCD?
Apologies for the long winded post.

Yes, I noticed discrepancies in price from their own website to that quoted via a comparison site (£20 cheaper via the comparison site but you then can't enter the cashback code).
Since then Quidco have offered £80 cashback for RAC which works out cheaper still for me, so that's what I'll be doing in the next 6 days before the offer runs out. Especially as I've heard some bad things about Swinton sales staff not being able to take no for an answer from a work colleague.£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000
£2 Savers Club 2019 #18 TOTAL:£394 (2013-2018 = £1542)0 -
By the way - does anyone know what the rules are with regard to getting cashback via sites such as Quidco or TopCashBack and the stipulation that it is for new policies only. E.g. I was with Aviva years ago (when they were still Norwich Union) but have had policies elsewhere since... If I was to return to them (or any other insurer that I had previously been insured with) after time away, does that constitute a new policy or not?
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this & perhaps have had successful cashback claims?£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

Hi
im 33 and im lookin into getting cheap car insurance because ive been quoted £2600 .. i am a 1st time driver and i would like some advice on this before i go and buy a car...0 -
Anyone know if its standard policy to charge you for the remaining months before your car insurance was due to run out - even though THEY have cancelled the policy? I have recently moved cities, and my insurers tell me they "don't do Manchester" so that's my policy cancelled. So I have to pay £100 to run out this policy and find a new one within a few days. It just doesn't seem right.0

Insurers often wait 4 to 6 weeks to allow time for a stolen car to turn up before they assume it won't and proceed to calculate the value.0 -

Hi. Hope someone doesn't mind helping me with advice.
I've bought a car today. But I only re-applied for my license yesterday after a ban, and I will need a medical. All in I expect to get my license late March.
I will not drive until I get my license. But in the meantime my car is on the street outside. How do I go about complying with the law re insurance?0
