  • Hi
Recently my colleague Eddie added his daughter (19) to his car policy for 3 months over summer until she went back to college.

The daughter was involved in an incident and she was at fauly - insurance paid out.

Now, Eddie's policy has jumped cos of the incident and daughters quotes on her own car have risen also. Is this correct that both of them are being hit on premiums?

    Thanks
    Rich :)T

Second, it is pointless the insurer asking the value of the car during the application phase if they then ignore it in the event of a claim. Does anyone know of an insurer that will honour that value?

Google for agreed value car insurance policies

Beware of accepting renewal quotes as previously posted on here.
I am with Post Office and received my renewal quote today. It's over £300 more. No accidents and 8 years no claim discount.
After using comparing sites found MoreThan offering exactly the same cover for HALF what I am paying this year. Took great delight in phoning Post Office to tell them I wouldn't be renewing.
Even better I am getting my Meerkat. Simples! :j

Here at Never Claimed we are trying to build the largest car insurance buying group in history. Our aim is to create a community of safe drivers who have been paying car insurance all their life and never once made a claim. Once we have a large collective of safe drivers signed up we will be in position to negotiate an unbelievable deal with one of the leading UK car insurance companies.

For this to work we need as many safe drivers to sign up as possible so please forward this to as many contacts as possible and also share on Facebook and Twitter. You can contact us at neverclaimed.co.uk

Should be good for all the 17 year olds taking insurance for the first time. :)

my cheapest quotes are with Kwikfit (RSA underwritten), SAGA and Tesco. Haven't yet tried Direct Line. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with any of those above?
Tesco are a bit more but give club card points. SAGA seem to have 2 years RTI written in unless have misunderstood, which could save me £100 in separate RTI insurance. The car I'm looking to insure from next week is new. thanks
  • I am looking at taking my car off the road. In the past 3 years the cost has gone from £360>£540 and this year at £1086 with no claims or points and 4 years no claims.

Called Admiral who after a chat got it down to £722 but that is way to expensive. Called others, used various websites and they are all coming in around the £800 mark. Is anyone else seeing increases like this?
  • I have always paid around £280-£300 but was hoping that as my car is a 2005, worth about £4000 and I have 8 years NCD and only 1 windscreen claim, this would be reduced this year. However, Tesco who I was with year before last want over £853!!! Funnily enough, my renewal is the lowest so far!
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

The thing is that the policy isn't wholly based on the cost of renewing your car in the event of a loss. The cost to insure the value of the car is probably minimal. What bumps the cost up is the thousands of pounds an insurer may have to cough up in the event of a whiplash injury, or worse still if someone gets badly injured and maybe loses a limb, or their mind.
