Quick question, if I am at university (living away currently) but only for 3 months more or so and moving back home in June for the next year of university, which house should i put my address as?0
-
Your correspondence address doesn't matter too much, but you need to tell them where the car is at night.
So tell them where it is now, then tell them when you move back home about the change.0 -
My son needed the use of a car for work, so we arranged to have him included on our insurance. He had had noaccidents in 10 years of driving and it had been about the same time that my husband had been accident free.[I am not a driver and my husband is 79]
We had no increase for the first few months so paid, i think, £187. When the policy came up for renewal it shot up, so we went with Aviva at£544, which was the best I could find.
Son then had a slight accident during year but challenged the amount that was being claimed. We had legal cover and were told that the claim would be looked into as it seemed excessive. The next thing we knew was that we received a county court judgement because the legal department never followed through. We didn't even know the case was going to court! come the renewal the NCB has been reduced to 3 years, though my husband was not party to the accident, and the quote is now £1629.99! The car is a old M reg
and would only be worth around £400.Can anyone give advice about the NCB and how we can get this revised so my husband can continue to drive. Is there a company out there that would be reasonable?0 -

I hate to say it but you will have to declare the claim and the accident, and the ncd is correct by the sound of it.
It is probably better to go to a broker, and see if they can get a better deal for you.
Leave your son off the insurance.
As for the county court judgement, contact your insurer to sort this out for you.0 -
Hi
Apologies if wrong forum but nearest I could find.
I have just taken out a policy with One Call Car insurance and so far this has been a disaster. I sent proof of no claims on commencement and they emailed me saying all was in order and nothing else required. I recevied a letter from them last week that they havent received the proof so I sent it again a couple of days ago. Today I have received a letter saying as I have not sent proof of 9 yrs no claims (my previous policy only states 7 when in fact I have been driving for over 25 yrs and have never claimed), I now must pay an additional £240.00 plus admin fee. How can I prove I have never claimed and provide the extra years? I can only seem to find my last insurers paperwork. I am so worried about this and the company have not replied when I asked them why did they tell me initially all was in order?
Appreciate any advice

Hi - I just had a quick question about car insurance renewal. My husband and I each have a car and are insured on each others policies. We are insured with two different companies at the moment. I claimed on my policy in my car last year after having a close encounter with a pillar in a multistorey carpark.
My husbands renewal has now come through for the middle of this month. If we just let it automatically renew, have we invalidated the policy by not phoning to tell them about my claim last year?
Thanks for any advice.0 -
You know the answer! It is the policyholder's responsibility to disclose any convictions/claims/incidents that a named driver has.
It will be on the CUE database and will be found out! Maybe when he makes a claim, which could allow them to refuse to pay out.0 -
There's a couple of questions that Martin leaves unanswered. First, he says premiums are cheaper at this time of year. Why's that? And when will they go back up again?0

HI janian
How long were you with your old insurance company? as i have seen this may times with the old insurance broker i worked for. As what happens is that different insurance companys have different levels of Maxium no claims bonus, some do five, seven or nine years.
So what i would do is speak to you old insurance company to see if they can confirm in writting that you have been on their policy for 'said amount of years' and when you started the policy with them you brought 'said amount of years' which then sould equal to more then nine years ncb.0 -

I'm having exactly the same problem with One Call - either they are highly inefficient or they are charlatans! I'm on my second time of sending documents and I hope to get no more of their threatening letters but we shall see. They are charming on the phone and say they have got my docs now but still the letters come!0
