  • I read the LEGIT section and in it Martin, or his amanuensis, mentions Chicken Chaser is a real job.

I dispute this, and would appreciate a reference to an authoritative record that such a job really exists, and is not a slang term for a woman-chasing male.

If Chico Marx is used as an example, forget it, I have researched for over an hour and if you read Groucho's explanation properly, you see he is talking about Chico being successful at chasing women, not a proper job.

One link in the chain I have visited is this one for example:

    http://www.fact-index.com/c/ch/chico_marx.html

So the challenge to MSE is, prove your assertion that there is a paid job with employees whose TITLE is Chicken Chaser.
  • Hi

Yes Chicken Chaser and Chicken Sexer are real jobs :rotfl:
And if you want proof, go on to one of the car insurance websites and start typing your job title as Chicken and up pop the suggest job titles. Personally, I can't think of a more boring job!

One thing for sure is the premiums have rocketed this year! I would suggest people check if they are in a Union or Trade Organisation or have an Employer that offers Insurance deals, through their company insurers as a way to save money.

Oh and if you want a job with Chickens...you might have to do a bit of travel....

Yes chicken chaser is a real job - I did it one summer when a student for an agency. Had to get there for about 5am and go round these big barns picking chickens up by their legs - maybe 3 in each arm and then passing them up to a bloke on a lorry. It wasn't pleasant and I didn't eat chicken for about 6 months after!

Back to car insurance - can anyone recommend any good insurers that deal with people with convictions?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice

I have had a quote from confused.com of £240 (Liverpool Victoria) and following comments on MSE I tried Tesco using same details on both. £614 from tesco using their club card link!

    Update,

I finally went with Aviva for £230 (two drivers & protected NCs) with the possibility of £60 cash back from Quidco if they decide to pay. I am still waiting for cash back through them from Sheila's Wheels and Churchill from last year. I will not use SW or C again

Car insurance quotes and days of the week?

I run my details through a comparison website and get one price - then repeat same details a few days apart and most insurers go up and down by up to £15 for the same cover.

    Is there a pattern?
Is it more expensive on Fridays and weekends?
Does it get more expensive as it gets closer to the renewal date?
    I think....

No idea. But be sure to add up all the hours you're wasting finding out.

I'd like to know what car you're driving so i can buy one! I've never had a deal under £350 in the 11yrs since i passed my test, never made a claim, never had any points, never been a boy racer, always drove small economical cars like the metro or 106 , untill last year that is when i got a ford focus, and always shopped round for the best deals. My insurance looks like it's going up around £60 this year to the £500 mark

I think post codes have a lot to do with price, if you want to check this run a quote with YO16 6YS which is near my home.
