Insurance due 13th October so started looking on comparison sites. Last year I was with Zurich connect at a premium of £468. I am getting quotes of £650 up to £900. The only thing different is a CU50 endorsement on my license. And when I go onto the actual sites I am finding that its either much more, or that there is no insured no claims or legal cover.
I definately need no claims cover. Do need courtesy car. Don't need breakdown as already got it with Halifax account.
Can anyone help me with my queries please?
Do I need legal cover?
Does anyone know if the 15% discount for Halifax UR account holders is off the internet price?
Both the companies giving the cheapest quotes have really bad reviews, The green insurance co, and 1st central. M&S have bad reveiws also. Churchill, quick fit Quinn and Halifax are in the running. Any opinions on them?
Thank you.0 -
My car Insurance renewal droped onto my door mat and my heart sank when it invited me to renew at £295. I looked at the comparison websites and really didnt find much difference in price. My friend suggested that I try CSiS. Civil Service Insurance Service. They qutoted me fully comp for myself and my partner (with six years no claims bonus) £110.25:j. I am just delighted compared to the company Ive been with for years. I will be staying loyal to them for as long as they charge me these kind of rates. Im going to check out the house and contents quote next. Anyone got a good rate on car breakdown companies?0

Do you have to work for the civil service for this insurance?0

No .We offer our specially negotiated scheme to all serving and retired, civil and public servants and their families. We also cover employees of privatised bodies such as BT and Royal Mail, as well as teachers, the services and civilian support staff. All members of Benenden, CSHealthcare, and the CS Benevolent Fund are also eligible.0

Wish I'd seen this earlier this year.
I've paid £300 and though that was good. Just been quoted £180 for the same.
Ah well, there's always next year.
They don't seem bad for breakdown cover either.0 -

I don't think i would qualify. I used to work for social services years ago but am not retired yet.0 -
You have "retired" from the social services though!
And the categories seem designed to catch anyone - eg. "family" isn't defined, so everyone must have someone in their "family" who at some time has worked in one of those categories.
But:The products are only available to UK residents who are employees or pensioners of the Civil Service or other accepted occupations. Consequently policies may be invalid and claims not settled where it transpires the policyholder is not an employee or pensioner as defined in our eligibility page.0 -
Hi All
Newbie alert for me I am afraid.
My Car Insurance is due 4/11 this year and so far any quotes i do seem to be should it almost doubleing- I know that my post code is high risk and there is nothing can do about that but i have a full clean licence, 5 years NCB, no fault accidents. theres just me on my insurance and i hardly do 5k miles a year.
Why is it so much!! 1400 is more then the car is worth. Public transport is not a viable option for me due to the location i live in and work in, but why should it jump so much!0
