Well I've just re-insured our Honda. Looked at all the comparison sites, Aviva and Direct Line. Last year, it was 270 (less £70 cashback from quidco). This year, the renewal quote was £305 including foreign cover and breakdown. Best from the sites was Swiftcover at 250, followed by eSure or Sheilas Wheels (same thing really) at 275, both without foreign element. I could have got £30-50 cashback on these, but looking at the feedback for these companies, it seems they were cheap for a reason, as their customer services were slammed.
So I took up the offer and re-insured with the same company - I got a 10% increase in premium, but couldn't use cashback, so you could say it cost me 50% more...Jumbo

I always try to get the best quote and cashback to boot. Last year I paid £280 with More Than and had £65 cashback.
I was really struggling this year, More Than wanted £500 renewal....unbelievable!! I tried the comparison sites and the quotes were not great even with high excess (I always got for a low £150).
Was just about to go with Direct Line at £325 as we already have one other car and the house insurance with them.
Anyway had a quick look at the MSE article and noticed Aviva were doing 2 months free so tried my luck. Just paid £276 and have the bonus of £50 cashback from Quidco, pleased with that.0 -
sorry if this is in the wrong place but does anyone know of any cashback sites that will hopefully bring down a quote i had from swiftcover (this was the cheapest by far)0

It's not bad if you have free european breakdown cover in with it, if you're not with anyone else, and go abroad a lot.
I usually take the other choice having said that. I don't mind third party european cover, I have AA breakdown, and I never speak to customer services, so I would rather spend the £100 or so on filling my car with wine and beer coming back through Calais from my next holiday.0 -

Swiftcover are on quidco but it says they are temporarily unavailable..... If you dont have to insure straight away it might be worth waiting a few weeks (website says should be back beginning of september).
We're taking advantage of the 'Aviva Deal' this year too, they're the cheapest by a few pounds plus cashback:j Mortgage Free!! )Generally trying to cut back where possible :j0 -
I dont know if anyone wants to try lv insuance as for me they have been quite good.
my first year was stupidly expensive which is expected for first year of driving.
i have an 09 punto with a 1.4 engine and it was 3400.00 over 10 months with a 1200.00 deposit and a 500.00 excess. this is fully comprehensive cover. I have renewd it july this year and it has dropped to 1500.00 staying with lv with no deposit. so it may be worth having a look with them if anybody else is struggling with insurance for young drivers.0 -

The only time I would speak to Customer Services is when I had an accident. I don't plan to do it (15 years NCB and climbing), but it's when dealing with accidents (possibly in a foreign country) that you might wish you'd spent the extra £25 - £50 on decent customer services. You pays your money and takes your choice...Jumbo

I've gone with Esure this year, customer services are supposed to be ok, (never spoken to them myself, but my wife had a claim years ago) any accident or breakdown is handled by the recovery service you have anyway, and I saved enough to fund the trip abroad and get the wine in.0
