My insurance is due to expire on 21st October. When should I buy again? Last year was the first time I had a car and Asda's online only insurance was cheapest and let me buy there and then for that day. Do I need to leave it until the last day again? When should I purchase? Also how do I prove my 1 years no claims (hopefully, still a month to go)?
Feel like I know absolutely nothing about this.
Thanks in advance.0 -

you can start looking for quotes now.... follow the insurance tips posted by martin here and find teh best/cheapest policy...
you can contact your insurer once the poilcy has ended and ask them to provide you with your no claims bonus proof. (usually though your renewal form will have it on also).0 -
Your pages about car insurance recommend i-kube for young drivers. The suggestion is that lower premiums are achieved because the policy discourages driving at the high risk time of day (11pm-5am).
I am trying to get insurance for my 17 year old daughter to drive a 2001 Corsa 1.0. I had been expecting to have to pay around £1000 for the first year.
The quote from i-kube £2400 was similar to quotes I had from a number of other insurers. £2400 equates to approximately 50p per mile for the stated annual mileage of 5000 miles!
I queried why anybody would chose the i-kube policy with it's restrictions when you can buy an unrestricted policy for the same money.
The lady I was talking to stated that they had recently switched insurers (i-kube are effectively a broker) and that their rates had gone up as a result.
As a result I don't think you should continue to recommend their policy. I am sure they get quite a lot of business from people using moneysavingexpert.com. Removing the recommendation might make them attempt to become competitive again.
The best quote I have had so far is £2200. I'm not going to pay that much so my daughter will not be able to drive.
Bizarrely one insurer recommended that I wait until she is 18 as it should then cost less to insure her because she will be a year older and will have had her licence for longer. I pointed out that while she will have had her full licence for months by then, she will not have driven since passing her test because she can't get insured. Surely she is less of a risk driving unaccompanied for the first time immediately after passing her test than she will be after nine months of not driving.0 -
Quick question about changing insurers.
I was involved in a minor accident back in April, really minor and no damage to either vehicle or injuries. However the person I bumped into saw an opportunity for making money and made a claim for personal injury. I informed my insurer of my case - supplying photos and witness statements, and they agreed that the claim was rubbish. However the claim is still ongoing.
As a result the price has gone up.
What will be the consequences if I change insurers at this stage with an ongoing personal injury claim against me? Will the insurance company just settle it then (prob cheaper than funding solicitors) and if so will my record have a black mark against it so to speak - making my insurance more expensive in future years?0 -
I am desperate for some help, i am a 22 year old nurse and until last year i owned a N reg car and had insurance with Endsleigh at £76 a month, i then bought a Ford Ka 2002 and took up insurance with Kwik Fit paid an initial payment of around £130 and monthly payments of £97! My insurance ran out today and the renewal uote is ridiculous.
The cheapest quote i can now get is with Diamond costing £114 deposit and monthly payments of £114 how is it possible for it to increase every year, i have 4 years driving experience, with 3 years no claims, no convicitions, my car is kept on the road and not on a drive, i want comprehensive cover!
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, at this rate i wont be driving my car anymore and will be cycling the 22 mile journey.0 -

I pay about £230 a year with Direct Line and have 7 years NCD with them, they've just sent me a renewal for over £400 a year!!
I was put through to some main bod who said all insurance is going up so I told him to stick it. I've been with them on and off for over 15 year and they reward my loyalty by nearly doubling my insurance. He didn't even seem to care that I was leaving so now I'm off to search for a better quote.
Do I have to contact DL for my 7 years NCD or is this all done automatically now between insurers?
Thanks0 -
Shop around, use the comparison sites, use cashback sites, and move each year. It's the only way to get competetive insurance.
I'd been told Bell are good for newer drivers as well, but never used them.0
