    Hi everyone!

Wowsers Ali, I can't believe it was mainly empty boxes!!! What a relief for you to get shot of the storage unit I bet.

La E we put lots of wee things into cardbord crates, then over time we took the things out to use at home, and closed the crates back over. :rotfl::o We were both sure most of them were still full!

Ally, well done on emptying your storage unit. What are you going to do with the money you save? More travels?x

Dawn, we have a wee trip planned for Tue night and in a couple of weeks we are going abroad and DW paid for it and I am paying her back over a few weeks so it will help with that in the short term. In the long term it will be spent on things that bring us joy and help with household expenses.

Ditty, can I recommend Start Rescue? DNM (I think) recommended it to me a few years ago and they are awesome. Never waited more than an hour. Their prices are really l.o.w. compared to AA and RAC. Basic cover is £26.10 a year and you get a really simple App to summon help with, or you can call. When you call they send out a repair professional from your local area to help so you may have Dave's Autos Van come to help instead of a flashy branded van. We have 3 star cover which costs £38 for one car, the same cover with the AA is £145 a year! (Link)

I also recommend the MSE Resolver tool for getting complaint satisfaction. (Link) It has worked for me four times.

    Afternoon all :)
Horrid weather again, though it was ok for a few hours this morning. The wind has blown my French bean wigwam about so it has sort of collapsed on itself a bit (a French bean emergency Ally :rotfl:). I haven't been out to sort it out as I don't want to get soaking wet. It will have to wait till things dry out a bit!
    Today's small things:
Up a bit later than usual on a Sunday (went to a boot sale that starts later than the local ones). There was no market there, so only spends were business ones apart from 50p for a cargo net thing that might be useful in the camper van :)

All food from home - late lunch / early dinner as we often do on Sundays. Fish pie and garden vegetables, followed by foraged blackberry crumble with custard :)
My brother paid back £20 of the money he owes me :T
And brought a couple of food items from the staff shop at work - on Saturdays everything left has to be cleared, so that those doing the weekend overtime can help themselves free of charge :) It mainly comes from batches removed after packing for quality control testing. They supply some of the more fussy (and pricey) retailers, so they have to be on their toes. The items actually tested are thrown away, but others in the crate go to the subsidised staff shop :) I will give some to DD this week, as I have zero room in the freezer, and it is all a bit ready-meal like and samey (even though it has a posh label), so not that fussed tbh. Still, free food and all that!
My goal for this evening is to clear up the kitchen (again!) and sort out the freezers a bit, so I can find things!

It must have been blowing a kale out there.

  • Hello
Ditty - sounds as though you have had an absolute nightmare with the car and rescue. Pleased that you got home ok and I hope you get some joy with your complaint.
I don't have much to report really - it's been a quiet couple of days with a lot of reflection, and a little bit of decluttering.
We still have a few bits of uniform that we need to buy before school starts and we're going to dedicate a day out shopping, probably sooner rather than later. We've stuck to our summer lists fairly well so far and touch wood, things are mostly going according to plan.
Not much happening here - the rain means that I can't get out and about, there's a bit of flooding around. I've done a load of washing and it is busy drying indoors, and I've stuck with the decluttering so far in August, which has been really good and made a bit of a difference. Plus I've found things that I forgot I had, which will also be useful.
I had lunch out with the kids and my mam and stepdad. It was a bit of a last minute thing, and it was lovely. The food was amazing, plus I had jam roly poly and custard for dessert. :D
Out tomorrow with my sister, finalising plans for a party which seemed like a good idea at the time but is really starting to stress me out. However, it's been paid for and I just need to finalise the food and music, then hope that people will actually come. We're going to the party venue for afternoon tea and a meeting with the manager there.

Hi Ally I will check your links tomorrow when I write my complaint email - I have been too tired to think clearly today. Thanks

Had an attempt at bits from my list today:
    Weeded a bit
    Ran a bit
    Painted a bit
    Talked to dear sister
Tea w dear friend who is going through health worries(much more stressful than clutch issues)
    Nsd
Cooked a nice dinner from stores - risotto is a comfort fave
Watched a ridiculous tim burton movie
And now have a list of issues and mechanics to dig into tomorrow morning to get car back up and running.
Didn't finish anything - but tomorrow is another day
