    Morning all!

    So today I have/ will:-
Make lunch to take to work
Wash load on 30 degree eco wash
    Make small CC payment
Apply for balance transfer CC to reduce interest payments
    Check Onepoll for any surveys
    Check FPL
    Update spreadsheet with weekend spends
    Make meal plan for week
Make shopping list for small shop at lunch - STICK TO LIST!
    Snap receipt
    Charge phone at work
    Hanging washing out once home
Use free parking for strength class tonight
    Cook dinner

That's everything I can think of for now. Hope you all have a good Monday!

    Morning Monday Money Savers,
I feel like I want to achieve quite a lot this week, & as the weather looks as though gardening activities will be curtailed, I need to look at some indoor tasks which could usefully be tackled. Anyway, on today's list:
*Rubber chicken. Mr F did Madhur Jaffrey's fab whole spiced Indian chicken recipe on Saturday. We had it with garlic rice, then cold with new potatoes & salad yesterday. There's easily enough to fill a couple of pittas tonight, with a stir-fry on the side using some of our home grown veg.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch (already done, the last of the spicy chicken combined with mayo made a lovely sandwich filling)
*Leftovers for my lunch. I love leftovers.
    *Water & feed greenhouse veg.
    *Read meters & submit online.
*Update grocery budget & pay off 'just for points' CC.
*Paid £3.00 of 50ps into my sealed pot. I don't seem to be getting as many this year, but they are all going in when I do.
*Loose small change rounded up for shrapnel jar.
*Make chutney. Jars fetched from my stash & washed ready for sterilising.
*Ordered another fish box. It feels like quite a big outlay at the time, but is only every two months & as I portion it up myself, we do get a lot of meals out of it, & I love saving all the little trimmings to freeze ready for a fish pie.
*Chopped cat's spurned dinner into his breakfast to avoid waste. He wasn't keen, but am hoping he might see sense later on. Think he may have pulled an all-nighter.
    *Pick more tomatoes & courgettes.
All free leisure today too, as intend to read my book, catch up on a TV prog & continue a research project I'm doing.
Wishing everyone a great start to the week. If things are tough, all I can say is to hang on in there. It is at least the start of a new week, & sometimes all we can do is see what that brings, while just keeping going.
    F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Morning all, Thanks PF for this weeks thread.
Lovely to read everyones news this morning (I love a busy thread!)

    Todays list
 gym session to make the most of my membership and refilled water bottle Done
 kids finished off another box of cereal from the back of the cupboard for breakfast Done
 pick up a pack of bread rolls on the way home, only take the right money as I don't want to buy extra food wherever possilbe this week - mission use up it is! Done
    rm surveys Done
 empty our 2nd fridge freezer so that it can be switched off for our holiday. I'm pretty sure I can freezer tetris everything into one! that way it'll be off for nearly two weeks instead of one! Done
    check banking/update spreadsheet Done
 remind ds1 that he needs to transfer some money to me from the weekend when he forgot his wallet Done
 wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash and hopefully hang out....next door have a guy jet washing their house which is all blowing our way at the minute Done
 cook a gammon joint, will do it in the convection microwave rather then heating up the whole oven Done
 make dh's lunches for tomorrow Done
 update freezer inventory and meal plan to use it all up! Done
 stew some apples that are looking a bit wrinkly will have with a peanut butter and banana muffin that was a bit dry (And part of a bag of berries in the freezer as part of use up) Done
 sort out my purse as we've done a lot of spending this last couple of weeks and my purse is full of receipts that I need to file. Done
** 2nd load in the quick wash and hang out
** lunch was a packet of crab & corn soup that I'd cleared out of the rental house earlier in the year, didn't really fancy it but decided to use it up and added in some noodles too and it fed the three of us nicely, it was quite tasty
in the end and its not ended up in the bin (it was BBE april 2018 but was fine)
** got various leftovers out of the freezer for a pot luck tea tonight, theres a portion of meat pie that the kids are going to share, and a couple of portions of curry for me and dh - I love cooking once and eating two or 3 times!
** ironed just what was creased (mainly dh's work shirts) everything else just hung away - oh and switched off before starting the last shirt to use the residual heat
** chopped some celery into a bag in the freezer that had gone a bit limp, will add to stews or curries next time I make something to use up. I HATE FOOD WASTE! :D
** made a batch of melting moments to start using up some stork as down to the small fridge, (also finished a bag of desiccated coconut, used some dried cranberries that I don't remember buying)
** also made a little batch of cheese scones (dh will love me when he gets home as they're his favourite! )

Thats my starter, I want to get lots done today as its ds2s birthday later in the week and so it will be full on hyper kids time!
    Take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Afternoon everyone
Many thanks for starting us off Purps. Only flipping posted on last week's thread! :)-I blame the dodgy anaesthetic they gave me:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have been reading along......4 weeks into recovery and I'm climbing the walls:o
Seem to be just spending money at the minute. When I do go out its trips to the supermarkets or h..bargains. Can do these without tiring me out but money gets spent The only positive- few YS items have been picked up and used:A

Plus add in the fact that every appliance seems to have come out in sympathy with the stairlift.:eek::eek:
Noticed when we bought ice cream that it wasn't solid coming out of the fridge/freezer:(
Have put it up to maximum, it is limping along-both the fridge and the freezer.

It doesn't help that it is positioned next to the oven, the worst possible place but the only way they could get everything in when the kitchen was changed to an adapted kitchen. Mustn't grumble as it is limping along, have ordered a new one doing it thru a cashback site so if it can last till Friday I will be happy.

Have been using up as much as we can from the fridge/freezer

The OT is coming out to see the temperamental stairlift on Wednesday. Measurements have already been done. The plan is to act fast.as I can't afford for it to break but more monies to be spent for a landing and stair carpet to go in when the stairlift goes in.
Don't get me started about the washing machine:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Banking all checked, everything good.
    Quidco checked

Plan this afternoon is to get some paperwork done. Feel in the mood to get stuck into it.

CCL great to see u back posting, not so great news about ex OH. Hope it gets sorted and hoping that DS is doing alot better
    Ziggyhoping u are feeling better
CLFhere's hoping that this month is a better one for u. Last month sounded just horrendous for u:(

Right off to feed the cats. Still getting their cans from home. Bargains. The price for the tins in Tesc@ and Morris@ns is awful, real price hikes.

    Have a great afternoon everyone.

Gutting :( Probably the compressor. Perhaps you could use some foil or similar to make an insulating layer between it and the oven?

  • Morning :D Thanks for starting the thread purps. How decadent eating out twice in one day! And lovely one was free :D

ditty you are putting me to shame with all you are doing! I really am on holiday mode. Madam had the choice of a number of activities and has opted for asking friends round for a play date :D Will make sandwiches and a cake and probably pick up a punnet of strawberries for a cheap mini tea party ;)made frankfurters, mash & sweetcorn, picked strawberries and raspberries from the allotment and the visiting friends brought cake. Free tea party and 3 hours of madam being entertained so I could get on with other things

So far in to our summer holidays we have used £14.50 of our £100 holiday budget :D

[STRIKE]need to take pup for a good walk[/STRIKE] good 90 mins walk (walked long way to the allotment and walked back

[STRIKE]reading[/STRIKE] with madam before making the cake ;)did reading but friends brought cake so will save that little activity for another day ;)

think I'll make a chickpea and chorizzo stew ready for returning to work on Thurs :'( made batch of kinda minestrone soup - used lo mash instead of pasta

30 mins garden work - after my lovely stint at the allotment yesterday I don't think I can give it up! Need to put a lot of effort in at the end of the season to try to get it to a low maintenance plot

[STRIKE]flylady kitchen[/STRIKE] kinda I got up and cleared all the cobwebs around the edges of the ceiling

cut my own hair :D really pleased with when I did it in June. So many people have complemented my hair recently!

    sewing :D

[STRIKE]go for a run this evening when oh is back from work [/STRIKE] longest run I've done for years. Almost up to 30 mins of running now...

[STRIKE]logged on to banking and did some shuffling[/STRIKE]

dinner will be bbq as we have some lo bits from Saturday ;)I had soup as my tooth hurting again. Burgers live to see another day!

ok that's my lot. Happy new week guys

happy with my efforts today. Will finish the list by the end of the day I think :p

    Update:
    Things to do today:
List lots of items on FB - did a few things but took lots of things to the charity shop
Go to charity shop - dvd's and (school) clothes
Do 4 hours of agency work - will pay for groceries next weekend - done, same nursery - this nursery can't be normal.
Call tax credits as some decisions seems unclear - did am due small windfall - very excited
All food from stores - well ds cooked lovely dinner for us, but then I went and got us something to drink and snack on from shop
Start moving back into own bedroom, after 1,5 years in very small bedroom - long story. WOrking on it
    Reposts from last week:
Clean house - ds vacuumed a bit and I worked elsewhere(agency)
Weed front of house - nope, the meadow is looking lovely
    Colour hair - nope
Make skirt - nope don't quite know what to do now sewing machine is out of business - might ask nice neighbour to keep her machine for the week
Make decoupage bin - some progress - well not today
My big effort this evening was to sport through a box of art exhibition ephemera - kept about a third, will go on shelf in garage, and the personal negs and prints will to in my personal archives under stairs!

Tomorrow is a run w ds and then more of the tidy action. Have already filled recycling bin and black bin, I am not giving broken dirty clothes to charity shop, it will be just fine festering on landfill.

Oh and the big MSE news ... took malfunctioning spray paint back to shop £7,5 back to me and took tyre levers (too thick) and a broken bulb back to W... and 6,50 back to meeee nice shops - but it really would be better if things worked the way they are meant to do.
Ds did a fab job though with spare chalk paint from aldy on his closet doors; room now looks very classy.
Have . fab start to the week
