Still on NSD No 16
Needed to get some kitchen towel as it is something else that I had a zillion of but which are now running out. Also need some wrapping paper for the Boy's birthday present. Bought the present awhile ago. A posh coffee machine and pods (both vastly reduced). He does love his gadgets!
Also bought some salt and vinegar as I'm trying to kill weeds on the communal path but I don't want to use weedkiller. Does anybody else have any tips on how to do this?
Weill there was a protest today and photos taken for the local paper. I'm stepping back now as the usual suspects, those who join in anything purely for the glory, were there telling everyone how much they had done to let people know what is proposed (and getting it wrong because they hadn't read the proposal). No mention of who had written the leaflet in the first place or the people who had delivered them. One of them even had the cheek to tell me to make sure that I put in a letter of objection. I think he was a bit taken aback when I said mine was the first one in and I had written the leaflet. No matter I've done what I can and through the proper channels. They can get on with it now and I'll stop being stressed. Sorry if I sound petty but I do so dislike people who don't give credit to the hard work of others and I don't mean myself. Writing the leaflet was the easy part it was the two ladies who had them photocopied and then went around putting them through letter boxes. Suppose it's the way of the world. People full of their own self importance.
Rant over. I am now going to have a G & T. The first for weeks but the last for the foreseeable future. I think I deserve it even it nobody else does. Actually Himself does. Told you he was lovely.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Toni'sFriend - well done to you, I hope you get the result you want.
Went out with the kids yesterday, I took my own lunch but DH and the kids bought something whilst out, not a huge spend though. I made up for the saving by spending in the charity shops.
Yesterday was payday for DH so I sorted all our finances out for September but did forget about topping up the ParentPay accounts and for bus fares for school so that will come out of my wage next week as will the overdraft on my bank account.
Collected the leggings from M&S and they fit DD and me fine so have transferred the £10 to the M&S CC.
DH and I have been out all day today, left home at 8.30 am and have walked Kinder Scout up to Kinder Downfall in the Peak District, small spend on some chips when we got back to the village. I have walked this route many, many times and have never, ever seen so many people up there, it was nice to see people getting out and about. It isn't a long walk but the terrain is quite tough so it takes quite a while to do. Oddly on the way home via Holme Moss there was a middle aged Pakistani couple who had pitched a large tent at the side road, in one of the gravel viewing areas, right at the top - so very, very odd.

Evening all
Was up early to take DD2 and friend to Manchester for Pride parade. Came home, put out washing and then went back with other DD and friend to watch the parade. DD's friend treated us to lunch bought from m£s and we had a picnic on a bench in the city.
Going to do a small food shop this evening and relax

Today I am grateful for my home, for sunshine to dry the washing, for a smooth journey, for texting meaning quick communication, for so many big ripe juicy rasps (and many more to come...), for a new-to-me Poirot novel to read, for a lovely few days away seeing rellies and being at the seaside, forcool fresh water, for a new utube downloading app meaning that I can access decades of past World's Strongest Man/Woman programmes
Well done Toni'sfriend. You have definitely 'done your bit'.

Hi all:j
Not an NSD as we went to a town quite some way away to go to the market, which is lovely. Bought a plant, donated a bit to the charity I support & had a snack for lunch.
Then rushed back to see the sport, just about made it & hadn't missed much.
Neighbour popped to see us, had a chat about what's happening locally, will get the plumber to call Monday to see about our showers that don't - shower, that is.
Lady who is popping in to let the gang out at home sent me a video of them playing in the garden. One of them has a squeaky cow that he loves to fetch, she will be his friend for life. Lovely to see them, but all I could think was how long the grass was!! I will need a scythe by the time I get back...
Tomorrow is not an NSD as we will be going out for lunch - again. It's already booked & is at a dairy that has a wood-fired pizza oven in its garden, it's wonderful fresh produce & a lovely garden.
When we get back will be eating all meals from freezers & getting rid of a lot of tut. Have written it now so it will happen!
Popping in to post when I can: Hello Turtles!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
Toni'sfriend - I completely agree with you about people that take the credit for other people's hard work. It's so far from what I would do that I am unbelievably uncomfortable when I see it happen. Good on you though, for being fully informed and standing up for what's right.
I have had a couple of days being in a bit of a rut but finally have slept a bit better, and that makes a massive difference to my general outlook. Plus the weather has really picked up too - and it makes me feel like doing something. Unfortunately, my mental health is such at the moment that I can't bear the thought of being in crowded and busy places with other people so I seriously doubt that I'll get anywhere this weekend. That coupled with my children's wifi addiction.
Got a few little bits done yesterday - finally got dd's apron for her catering course and also got rid of my old sofa. I gave it away on fb - I just wanted rid and feel better in my mind for knowing I helped a young couple that couldn't afford a sofa. Put a couple of garden chairs in its space until the new sofa comes on Wednesday. The cats really like them:rotfl: - I have my other sofa which I can fit on with both kids if I sit in the middle to stop them killing each other.
Operation use-up-food is going well as well. So plenty to be positive about. And I still have a whole 7 days off work (not including today).
Onwards!Not giving up

Morning!
NSD 13 achieved. 5 days til payday. All within budget still, thanks to a few survey payouts adding a little something. Nothing at all is getting done. Which is annoying, but the kids need to relax and decompress. Normal service resumes on Thursday.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hi all,
Sorry for my absence, time just escaped me! Two results days done - not good for my A level students but amazing for GCSE so swings and roundabouts. Plus the unis didn’t seem to care if students met the entry requirements and nearly everyone is off to uni who wants to be.
Did most of my admin contract and going in for two half days next week to finish off. Been paid for that and salary but spent most as had a list of items I had been putting off getting. All sorted now and very few spends left for the next 30 days, fingers crossed.
Sold items on eBay so that’s all going into my kitchen fund pot which needs paying by July next year.
Painted fence today, got up super early as it got too hot yesterday to get much done and so now I’m just waiting until tomorrow for another cool morning for me to finish it.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

God, isn't it hot? I've spent a pleasant afternoon trying to sort out my plant containers. Really need to buy a few new ones. - plants that is. I've got lots of pots. The parsley and the oregano is coming along well but I think I'm failing with the chives again. Himself has spent the afternoon watching some of the 25 Van der Valks that he's recorded. Only 8 more to go.
I had a long conversation with my next door neighbour. I don't often get to do that because she works shifts looking after adults with learning difficulties. They are a lovely family. Her son volunteers for a lot of local charities. He's only 16 but wise beyond his years and just the nicest, most caring person you could ever hope to meet. I remembered that we had a whole box of printer paper which we are never going to use (how we came by it is a long story) so I asked her if the main charity he works for would like it as it's expensive to buy and they rely entirely on fund raising and donations. It is something that is really worthwhile and badly needed. It was bit of an odd donation but they were delighted to have it. I might have somewhere to rehome all those books if they ever have a Fayre of some kind. I would really like to support them financially in some way. I think I'll have a word and see what I can do.
So the Boy will be here later for his dinner. The arm is healing nicely but I don't think he'll be cooking steak again for a while.
Not a holiday here but I hope you're all having a lovely weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Have put the very soggy and enormous tent up in the garden today and it is now just waiting to be packed away all lovely and dry. We are very lucky to have a garden big enough to get it all dried out. Have dried the washing on the line and pottered about a bit. Nipped into town to the Artisan food market, we arrived quite late but I wonder if the beautiful weather worked against them as it was very quiet. No spends in the market but we did buy some dog chews, filled the car up with diesel and used a 10p off/litre voucher and bought some supper things.
Also went over the road into the graveyard and filled a large tub with blackberries, will go back tomorrow and get some for the freezer. I like to put fresh ones on my porridge for breakfast.
Lazy day apart from the tent bit but it was much needed as it has been a busy week.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
