Dolly - You're right. I have been amazed by the number of people who didn't even read the letter but were outraged when they were told what the plan was. It's just that I feel as if I've been pushed right to the forefront and I'm more of backroom person.

Today I am grateful for finding a set of books for dd in the w0rks, for some morning yoga-ish stretches, for spending several hours with my cousin, for catching up on some family news, for going to the beach with dd and dh, for dd and I swimming in the sea, for lovely weather, for an increasing number of scooters in the area ready for a rally(?) at the weekend.

Yesterday all twelve books arrived I ordered (second hand) from the South American retailer that is currently on fire. All from vouchers earned from survey sites. So I am sorted for a while.

Inventory of cupboards done, meals planned, the freezer is a barren wasteland. One week left til payday.

All is well in the world of the Foxes

    Happy Friday Turtle-friends.

Bought a Dine In for £12 in M & S plus some grapes on special offer but used a gift voucher to pay. Bought some items in Aldi but all on the list. I'm beginning to find that my stash of coffee, oil, etc is beginning to run down now so I'm just buying one spare rather than stockpiling. Taking the budget out of the bank in cash every Friday is definitely making me more aware of what I'm spending.

Other than that still plodding on.

  • Evening all,

Spent a lovely pre Bank Holiday on the various motorways and A roads on the west of England :( Took us double the time to get home and we were both a bit hot and frazzled by the time we arrived. But lovely to have DD2 home for a short while - I say home but she is currently out with her friends! Have spent a lot on petrol this week and bought some gifts as thank you to DD2's boyfriend's family as a thank you for letting her stay for 6 weeks. Bought a few items of food but not much.

Grateful that DD2 is now home after a lovely few weeks away; DD1 had a lovely day - she went for a picnic with a little girl she used to look after; my own bed tonight :)

    hi all:j

DH's plane was very late last night so didn't get back till the early hours. Nice to see him & that he fixed the heating (it wasn't working downstairs) as soon as he got in despite the late hour..

So saving money as no need to call out a professional

Did some outside painting yesterday as it was fine, did some more today but then it rained a little bit

Cat is coming now for breakfast as well as supper. Hopefully these meals will help to sustain her when we leave.

Yesterday was an NSD, but today, Friday wasn't. Went to a town where I - yet again - had fish & chips. My excuse is that I have been with 3 different people...still it meant I went 3 times & they went once..

Also in this town apparently was a tractor parade, I did not see it & find it hard to believe , well not actually, considering where I am..

Bought a birthday gift for my friend who admired something in a shop when we visited the other day. Was a bit pricy but the shop assistant wrapped it up as a present, so all I need to do is tag it & hand it over - always supposing I don't forget I bought it by October..

Holiday is coming to an end, back next Wednesday I think it is. Will be sad to leave but keen to get back home. DH confessed that he has 'tidied some things away' in the bedroom, which as it's him involved plastic containers. An obsession.

Popping in to post when I can : Hello turtles

I have done very little for the past few days. Moving the chimneypot for mum (she reminded me yesterday that I had done some sawing as well and had to use both hands and adopt a variety of sitting'kneeling and crouching postures) my left leg has been fairly useless since then. My knee and ankle (I was already supposed to be looking after the ankle) but in particular my inner thigh have been so painful I've had 3 bad nights sleep and stairs, especially going up has wavered between difficult to agonising.

Physical activity has been minimal (so the kitchen has not advanced much) although I found DS3's oldest walking stick (present from his out laws - very posh) which has helped as long as i don't need to carry stuff.

Only fell asleep in the early hours of yesterday and then woke to find it was 9.54 am and mum's hairdresser arrives at 11 am. Did my mantra of morning jobs, stuffing things in bags as i went (pills, medicine creams, old clothes, shoes, foot supports) and then walked to the taxi office. Luckily I had already packed the things for mum.

Mum was very entertained by my struggle to get out of the taxi. I got my own back later by making her go through the exercises the doctor gave us. I took things slowly so had only done my pills and bacon barms for breakfast (threw w'meal rolls, a pack of bacon and some tongue into my bags) before the hairdresser came. I had left my hair the way it was when i woke up (poor sleep and the straps on my mask left little sticky up bits everywhere and not in a good way) so she could understand why i wanted in short(er).

Booked to have mum's hair done on Thursday the week after we come back as the doctor's receptionist phoned me on Thursday and we booked mum's scan appointment (doctor had asked to try an get an early appointment). Told her the cleaner will be there as we will have reverted to term time schedule (Thursday is cleaner's day and my day off).

After lunch for mum and the cleaner (I'd only recently had breakfast) and I had stopped mum from nearly killing herself trying to separate 4 frozen sausages from a pack of 12 - I ran a knife under the hot tap which quickly sliced through the ice linking them. She was planning sausages, bacon, eggs and tomatoes for today's lunch with her visitor - sounds posh but she's only using up the bits from the fridge, as I am (bacon barms because I've used all the yoghurt and finished off the cheese spread that was open).

The girl came to do mum's nails and I went in the shower then did a little bit of tidying in the shed (plans included touching up the paintwork on the garden pots and finishing the sawing but they were beyond impossible).

Mum settled down to watch a film and I spent the afternoon alternating between lying on mum's bed and sitting in the front room drinking water. I helped mum pack her suitcase and wrote and attached the label. We went through her exercises again (told her to ask the visitor to read them for her today if she can't remember) and finally i used three of the dressing pads I bought with cotton wool and cider vinegar to dress 3 patches of the warts. Told mum to leave them in place for a few days and we will repeat it the week after we come back.

Came straight up to bed when i got home and have slept well. I feel much more mobile today but haven't tried the stairs yet. Whilst confined to bed (mostly) I've refined some of my weight loss goals, gone through my budget, identified 3 bad spending habits that have been creeping up on me and taken some steps to rectify them.

Congratulations to teachers and pupils on your exam results (hairdresser's daughter had also done excellently) and hugs to everyone. Today I am grateful for the chance to rest and recover, for discovering the last ice lolly in mum's freezer (she's eaten all the ones I bought for her) and for finally getting my hair cut properly for the first time in months.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

It was a victory for me to get the bus to my sister's - the fencer she hired was just finishing off, and I've taken his details. The trip tired me out for the rest of the day, but I feel all right this morning, and actually managed to sleep fairly well. I also met one of the ladies on the council's healthy walks scheme, while I was at the bus stop, so that cemented local links I've been trying to make, we actually talked about exchanging phone numbers, thats a big deal for me.

    Good morning!
The weather forecast for this weekend is hot. So enjoy such things while it lasts, for soon it will all be but a memory.

I want to go blackberrying, charity shopping, and pay a cheque into the bank - why can I take money out of any bank machine with my card, but I cannot pay a cheque into my bank account at any bank?

All back to school on Thursday.....

eta: Today will be NSD .....13. I did not manage to spend anything.
