Today I am grateful for opting out of the after-church picnic, for keeping cool in the house, for the washing drying easily, for a chilled day, for chatting with some friends, for getting some sch prep done, for discovering that I'd done more prep than I thought, for exchanging texts with my cousin, for more fresh rasps.

I've had a hectic day. Mum's Saturday visitor phoned me yesterday to say the boiler was leaking (she hadn't told mum) so I phoned the plumber and he promised to pop round today to look at it - he's not the cheapest plumber but he always comes when needed and won't charge any extra for working on a Sunday.

Visitor had left a bucket under the drip and if it can't be fixed today I will turn off the water at the stoptap before we leave tomorrow. Mum was worried that she did not have the money in the house to pay him so I went to get more cash out yesterday evening. Thought about going to mum's with it straight away but was very tired.

Have had a few minor problems (head sore, ears and teeth aching and neck still very stiff and sore) which took a sudden turn for the worse. Was in so much pain it made me cry (I don't often cry). I googled the walk in centre and they open at 7 am, so was prepared to be waiting on the doorstep - wasn't expecting to go to sleep.

I did sleep and took the cash to mum. I also took my lump hammer (actually my grandad's lump hammer - I let DS1 have the modern one) as mum has an unspecified job which requires it. I also took 2 of the pizzas I included on the penultimate food order as Beloved doesn't like those ones.

Went from mum's to the walk-in centre as it might be nothing but if it's an abcess and needs antibiotics I want it sorted now rather than when I'm miles from home. Went into triage - nurse thought it was a tooth problem which they couldn't help with and gave me the phone number for out of hours doctors as they had no-one who could prescribe. She also thought it was like neuralgia (seconding the taxi drivers diagnosis).

Sat outside in the sunshine and phoned the number. Was given an alternative number and told not to leave a message on the first number. Second number was for health visitors (asked me to include the child's name on my message). It also said they worked M-F 9 am to 5 pm - no use to me.

Phoned for a taxi home and ate my cheese and drank some water. I hadn't had breakfast and mum said to take supplies for a few hours wait, so took one of my bottles of water and a cup from her cupboards and the last lump of cheese from an opened packet and a few biscuits (we are doing well on the using up but mum only had milk and cheese left in her fridge and I've filled 2 of the pint bottles and frozen them for when she comes home).

Once home I set to doing my room and had a bung it in the oven lunch. Bed has changed position again (more shade from the sun and not exposed to the car park when I'm naked). The quilt, pillows and sheets went in the bath, everything else was bagged or boxed neatly (so nearly sorted). Put the sheets and pillows on the bed. the quilt with have it's cover on and be rolled up at the bottom of the bed.

It was 3 pm by then so I went out to shop. Reverted to my original plan of buying witch hazel (for the sore head), teething gel to reduce the pain and heat spray for those hard to reach places. Carried on to Tosco which was fortunately open until 5 pm. Wanted caffeine free coke. I also bought a few bits to take with me tomorrow including a ys pack of broccoli/ sweetcorn/ peas to have with hummus and reduced fat dip plus several packs of biscuits which were put in the food bank bin.

Was pleased to see that the food bank bin was holding it's own. Awhile ago they added a box for donations to an animal shelter and I've been in there when the food bank box was bare and the animal shelter one was piled high.

I ran myself a bath with horse chestnuts. Had no idea if I would be able to get out again and they were settling down for a nap. I decided that given the (hot hot, so hot) weather being stuck in a bath of cooling water might not be the worst thing in the world. It was lovely (I let the water go). It was a while before I managed to get out (I rested between attempts). I may have to get one of those rubber suction mats to put in the bath - I think they're disgusting but needs must.

Going to put the suitcase on the bed and pack what I can. I have found mum's card and present and took the wrapping paper out of the wardrobe whilst I was hanging thinks up. Have booked a taxi for tomorrow and am hoping for an early night.

Today I am grateful for a bedroom that is rapidly approaching sanctuary status, for the sun taking care of the drying, for friendly taxi drivers (leg is a lot less painful but still severely limiting and stairs take a lot of effort), for removing half a sack full of rubbish from my room (includes my old paint clothes and a 'wear it out' dress which has laddered at and alongside the seams).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Had a nice walk this morning with an old friend - we moved next door to her 27 years ago when we moved here and although she's moved twice we still keep in touch. Went back to hers for a cuppa tea and saw her 20 something daughter who I've not seen for years!
Then DD1 and I were taken out for lunch by my parents who are visiting the north west.
DD2 cooked tea and I had a lovely catch up with her and her boyfriend.
Did a small shop and have paid for DD2's travel insurance which is always expensive because of her health issues :(
This evening I have caught up with emails for my PT job while lying in front of the fan !
Gratitudes - catch up with my friend; nice (free) lunch with parents; tea made for me and lovely catch up with DD2 and boyfriend
Hope everyone has a relaxing Bank Hol Monday

    Hi all:j

Pleasant day here temp wise, about 12 degrees cooler than the UK atm. Stuck some washing out which up on this hill soon dried.

Out for lunch which as lovely as usual, they must think I'm a permanent fixture there.

Little shopping after taking quite a few items back that I ordered. Got DD a swimsuit she admired when she was here, for one euro. May take some more items back tomorrow as well if I can find the correct receipts.

Did some more outside painting & DH - after a nap - did clear out some of the guttering.

Came in to do supper & had a power cut, never happened before. DH looked it up & the service was due to be back on from 11pm...luckily it was restored after about 45 mins. Saved from eating cold pizza.

Will do some packing tonight although we have another day and a half till we leave.

Plumber due tomorrow, hope he can sort out the showers, neither of which work properly.

Checking in when I can: Hello turtles!!

Had a terrible night's sleep or should that be not sleeping. I was really wheezy and when I tested with my flow meter this morning it was just above the point where they suggest seeking medical attention. Just did it again and it's a bit better now. I think I'm still feeling a bit stressed.

Anyway, used up the rest of yesterday's chicken for lunch and made stock with the carcass which I've turned into soup for dinner tonight. Washing done and dried outside.

So I'm going to watch Downton and then off to bed hoping tomorrow is a better day.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Hope you feel better soon, Toni'sfriend. Take care.

Sashanut - hope the plumber can fix the showers for you.

Mothernerd - enjoy your trip. I can't remember how long this one is for. Was it you who volunteered to run sept? If so, will you have time to set it up? Or was it dolly? I'm sure I made a note somewhere...

Dolly - love the idea of collecting blackberries from a graveyard!

    Deni - aren't long-standing friendships great?!

Fmess - did you finish the fence? Glad you are happy with the results, esp as you've had such a frantic frenzied year.

Today I am grateful for a breeze, for dh taking himself off to the cex shop, for a chilled day with dd, for the neighbourhood being quiet, for books to read.

apple - it's me doing September. I am going to get it organised today and posted in the next day or so.

Never left home yesterday, just relaxed in the sun. Would have been a NSD but DH got wine and pizza (wine at my request) in the evening, I tried the Goodfellas vegan pizza for the first time - it wasn't bad.

NSD 14 achieved. Not much else. I am getting PE shorts and shoes today for DS3. So a trip to town is in order.

So hot last night it was ridiculous. Dh snored like an angry horse all..... night..... long......
I put all the kids to bed at a decent hour last night, they need to get back into school mode.

    Plus Bake Off returns tonight.

Adventure : took photo of cheque on my mobile and tried to put it in the bank electronically. Will see if it clears. If it does, hooray!
    Happy Tuesday Turtles.
