Emmia said:Suffolk_lass said:Not sure if you are aware but you can buy 400mg Ibuprofen (generic name for your brand) from behind the counter in the pharmacy (but not out on the shelves). Personally I find codeine based painkillers work better for me because I get the nausea and pain when I get one. After a serious back injury I am able to get higher dose than they can sell over the counter (on prescription) but I believe you can buy Paracodol or Solpadeine (soluble) that are 500mg paracetamol and 8mg codeine without prescriptionamanda_p said:You need Imigran tablets, you can get them over the counter from the chemist..They are part of the Triptan group.I have been a migraine sufferer all my life and these are the only tablets that work.If you go to the doctor they can prescribe Sumatriptan tablets. Codeine product should never be used long term unless prescribed and monitored. However as one offs for short term acute pain they can be helpful. Nurofen plus is ibuprofen and codeine and solphadeine max is Paracetamol and codeine. These two contain 12.5mg of codeine and are the highest available otc. The others contain 8mg.
Paramol contains a similar opioid and again should only be used short term.
Hope this is of some help, if your migraines are more frequent or more severe than normal it would be worth chatting to your gp as there are other ways of monitoring and managing them with more regular medication.
(I used to work as a dispenser in a pharmacy, if you have any medication queries remember that a pharmacist should be able to help too, either face to face or over the phone)

I have found it helpful to remember that being separated / divorced is like a kind of grief and just as when you are grieving for the loss of someone, grief for your past relationship can come in waves and hit when you are least expecting it. Hope that makes sense.

You poor thing. I'm so sorry you've had so many problems with migraines. I'm the same: when stressed I can have them for weeks. I went to a GP and was prescribed all sorts - tablets to stop me being sick that just seem to work and sumiptran. It helped a lot just to admit to myself I was doing too much, I was stressed and I needed time off. So do consider getting some help if it comes back.
I don't think you can blame yourself for putting trust in the wrong people. Thats their problem, not yours and now hopefully you're more aware of earning signs. People like your ex are charming and fun and designed to draw you in only to then change to their real selves. You can't feel stupid for being convinced.
It would definitely be nicer if you could have it easier. I totally agree. And I do feel like modern life is costed based on couples sharing so when a person is doing it alone it is so hard. But you are doing it. You are fantastic.
I hope this therapy week is really positive for you. I also wonder if you can seek more through your union? Do look into it as you get recommendations for who to go to as well as some free sessions.
You can do this. I am also wondering if it's time to end the DMP and go self managed. I think ticking off creditors and not seeing it as one big number would suit you now. You can always go back to the DMP if it doesn't work out.
Keep going you lovely lady! Xxxx
Oh and we've got pallets for seating in my garden. Totally free and I've bought an ikea futon mattress to go on it, I've seen others buy dog mattresses to go on.Loan 1 £5200/£8000

Spot on @Kitten868. Just to add that many of the happy families you see out and about are putting on their public-going-out faces, and more of them are living for the now, either up to or beyond their incomes.
We also have pallets deployed in the garden - a quick drive on an industrial estate, a chat with a builder doing home renovations, or a FB marketplace search can usually come up with free pallets that can be adapted with a few nails and some cushions. Make more than one and they sell too.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Try to remind yourself how far you have come. You’ve knocked thousands off your debt haven’t you? Plus you got out of that toxic relationship. Try not to take too much notice of what everyone is doing on FB - a lot of people will be prettying things up on there rather than saying exactly how it is. Keep going. Well done on managing your daughter's silk pyjamas request. Sounds like a double win to me - she,s got what she wanted yet you've hopefully managed to teach her a lesson in not wasting money when one is on a tight budget.1

My ex messaged last night and asked why I had been trying to log into his Netflix acount (I haven't). I thought it was an excuse to make contact. He knows I have no access to his password, he's a very secretive person.
Reading Mumsnet last week, I learned about ‘hoovering’. It’s what ex’es do to suck you back in and the text you received is a classic example. Best advice is to ignore, ignore, ignore.Good luck

Good advice. As long as you continue rising to the bait he will regard it as a sign that he can still influence your behaviour and allow him tofeel he still has some kind of hold on you. The most frustrating thing for him will be to get no response. He,s probably thinking up a string of excuses to use at regular intervals to test out where you are on his "still capable of being influenced" scale, and the deeper in debt he eventually finds himself because of a lifestyle he can,t afford, the harder he may keep trying again.Do you have any outstanding legitimate business to be sorted out between you or could you Now block him on your phone?4

There are helpful guides and posts on peoples experiences regards self managed DMPs on the main debt free wannabe page. You've got the hard bit done by the charity. Now you just tell the charity you want to manage it and send letters to your creditors that you're now managing it yourself. They may want to go through your expenses again to prove it's all you can afford but you can probably afford less now it's just you according to their i&es. I'll try and look for some for you. I'm really hoping your dmp is with a charity not a company.
Keep your head up. He's desperate to wind you up. XxxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000
