A NSD for me. Was out early pulling up stuff from the yard and backs to fill the green bin. Could hardly stand so hobbled round, holding on to things and picking the things that were easiest to pull up.

Had a bit of a rest then showered and dressed. Phone call from mum to say my aunt died last night. My dad's youngest sibling and my only remaining aunt. Her husband is my only uncle and he and mum are the last two left from that generation.

Went to do mum's shopping which was more convoluted than expected. Ended up hot and bothered with heavy feet. Met one of my cousin's. He had been on the phone to my aunt's younger son this morning - he's the one who will be doing all the arrangements. He had just come from passing on the news to another of our cousins. Put in a tentative plea if there is an extra seat in his sister's car for the funeral - it will be in Abingdon and mum won't be able to go.

Did more garden work with mum and put her bins out. Made food for both of us. Going to have a little sloth as I want to get back to clutter clearing with a vengeance tomorrow.

Today I am grateful for my aunt's life, that her end was swift and her troubles are over (MS, dementia and a broken hip amongst other problems), for food from mum's freezer, for a lie down on mum's bed (sorting out my aching back).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

So sorry to hear about your aunt, mothernerd, even though her troubles are over, as you say. I realise she was your dad's sister, not your mum's, but I hope your mum isn't too badly affected - the thinning of the generations can feel very hard sometimes.

I hope you can get to the funeral, and I hope your aching back feels better.

Spendy day on lunch at the pub but redeemed myself by getting free car parking for our walk. Walked around a new to me country park before the rain and just sat down in the pub when the heavens opened. 17000 steps done in total.

Had a lovely afternoon and evening catching up on tv is recorded.

    Night all

    Hi all:j

So sorry for your loss mothernerd, it is hard even though they had a long life..

Foxholes - the painting is truly horrible. But my DH likes it even better now he has it home. He suggested we hung it in front of the TV screen so we could both enjoy it. Well I hope he was jesting. He sensibly has it turned to the wall when I am in that room. It would give you nightmares....I have suggested where he might put it, but he didn't seem that keen....

Awake very early for me, must have been the thought of the CS shift. Oddly, there were loads of staff there, it's either feast or famine in that shop.

Again not an NSD although I didn't spend very much, as I have a coupon to use up, will do just before we go away.
    Still : 12/12 NSDs
No gardening possible as torrential rain most of the afternoon.

All food from stores, I had leftovers & DH some bargain pasta bought last week. Will have to cook properly tomorrow..

Some progress made on the clearing up although not much energy after CS stint. However, last one till September.

Progress also made on preps for hols; as we load up the car & take stuff over there is a lot to remember. And usually I am running round like a demented thing on the morning we leave. Hence I arrive for a 3 week stay with a) loads of tops but only one pair of trousers, b) the reverse of a), c) a random assortment of stuff none of which goes together or even could comprise an outfit, d) a caseful of woolly jumpers when there is a heatwave, e) a caseful of vests when it is raining/snowing/freezing. Well you get the picture...…

(the Doors are playing in the background)

Live your life, take chances, be crazy. Don't wait. Because right now is the oldest you've ever been and the youngest you'll ever be again

Do all the good you can
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
for as long as you can.
    John Wesley

You can rise up from anything. You can completely recreate yourself. Nothing is permanent. You're not stuck. You have choices. You can think new thoughts. You can learn something new. You can create new habits. All that matters is that you decide today and never look back.

Sorry to read about your loss mothernerd - lots of love.
Thankyou for running July, even though I've barely been here between exam marking, holidays and hospitals. It's been amazing as always.

I finished the month on 15 NSD's. Which I view as bang average. Must try harder.

Once again, it's the silly and small spends which scupper me. Milk for the office or a forgotten ingredient. My spending habits have certainly improved but this is an area which needs work. I will get there.
