Sorry!
Can I sneak in with my puppy eyes and apologise for being late - as usual?! I'd like to join again this month and be a super ninja if I can?
Already managed 1 NSD, with today being number 2. I've a busy month ahead so if I get 15 NSD's I'll be happy. I'll pop back later on lunch and provide some further context, for my own benefit as much as anything,0 -
Good morning all
yesterday I manged to minimise-
Food waste- I am trying to use up what needs to be used before it goes off, yesterday I gave the kids corn on the cob for snack that was a few days past its BB but still fine and I used some stuff at the bottom of my fridge in my spag bol!
Plastic- we took what we have used to the recycle centre, I find it utterly terrifying how much plastic we use, even when attempting to cut down! I must work on buying less of it & looking for food that is packaged in other ways!
I maximised-
Health- I did 40 mins on my exercise bike, hub bought me it 2nd hand for a tenner, as when he is away I struggle to get out of the house with the kids after work to do anything. Just did i while watching tele
Time with those you love- swimming with the boys & then I had a big chat with my 2 year old at bed time, I like his little conversations!
my mum gave me £100 which I have put toward 2 big Christmas gifts for the boys ( sorry to use the C word), our Xmas budget is much smaller this year than in previous years because of the house saving, and so hub & I have agreed that any extra cash will go towards Christmas & getting a few bits put to one side which will really help when it finally arrives.
Today is NSD #20 -
Good morning,
productive, busy but spendy weekend.
Slowcooker died a while ago but can't live without. Kept the ceramic insert to have a spare. So went round the shops to get a new one. Every shop only had about 4 tiny ones on display and told me, nah, can't order that here need to order that online. So even if I wanted to spend my money in the high street/actual shop I can't. In the end found it cheaper at Amazon anyway.
Then had DS's school fair and contributed a few bob to the raffles etc. Done alright. Bottle of whisky and Lambrini, two teddies and a balloon :rotfl:.
Then nearly caught a shop lifter in Home Barg@ins. The shop assistant just noticed/understood me too late and the guy was out.
Had a lovely BBQ on the one day without rain this week, got a few odd jobs in the house done and had yet another skatepark accident. Oh I started to hate skateparks. If you have kids who like to scoot, skate, ride bikes etc, please make them wear a helmet. I know we back in the day survived without but it saved my children some serious injury (beyond the lost teeth, bust lips, eggs on forehead etc they had despite wearing one).

HI everyone! I'm on 1 NSD.
The main downfall for my NSDs is drinking coffee at work. I decided to boycott the machine a while ago due to the waste and cost, but I have not been very true to my word and keep using it. So... today pleased to report i didn't buy any... however a student bought me one! but that still counts so tomorrow none will be had. I'll try to be organised and take a nondescript flask to sneakily drink at my desk (coffee is not allowed at desks here as the offices are basically a showroom and beautiful)
-Exercised a little yesterday and used the parallel bars in the park and will do a HIIT workout tonight.
- Batch cooked a curry yesterday. Accidentally bought normal horrible stringy and hard skinned squash instead of butternut so wasn't as good as I wanted it to be
Planned all my classes yesterday and this morning, so listened to spanish podcasts at lunchtime and studied a bit.
I’m off to a good start - I just need the rest of the week to continue like this.
Grateful for.... having a couple of free hours at work to read Quora in Spanish and write down new vocab. Also for crazy students making me laugh and demonstrating the birdy song which I hadn't heard in years and then got stuck in my head all day :rotfl:Student loan £5655

Speky - you are in!
thrifty -ninjas have perfect eyesight. I can still see it when you type in light grey...!
Today I am grateful for good kids on a trip to cafe rouge, for working with some great people, for my lovely y10 group, for my kettlebell, for dh mending the upstairs loo.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I was wondering where Speky had got to.
Ninja with the pot mending husband - I discard cracked cups and dishes when I notice them - not good to eat from them (and have had a hairline fracture split from top to bottom when full of hot liquid - not funny). I save broken pots to put in the bottom of large plant pots and tubs and have used a lot to stabilise the 'earth' around my back gate which turned into a quagmire in winter.
Thrifty DS2 went from 'climbing' trees (falling off or out of them) to roller-blading, playing street hockey, using a skateboard, more trees (ended up in hospital having told me he'd fallen off the 3' car park wall when he'd fallen from a tree, hit the 6' car park wall and landed on a pile of bricks). He started playing rugby (union the class traitor) when he was in high school (not at all built for rugby). I breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the season one year only for him to have a 'strap' injury to one hand playing football in the street. He didn't make the rugby squad at uni (got made the mascot after he was concussed during the trials and waited at the side of the pitch until they took him to hospital after the trials concluded). He then set up an American Football team for two unis and then set up separate teams when enough people were interested in addition to still playing rugby when he came home at weekends. He went on one of those bungee jump swing things whilst still concussed from a rugby injury.
A couple of years ago he went back to playing rugby for the veterans team (he's 31 now). Thankfully last season he decided to sit out the rest of the season last year after his 3rd concussion.
His brothers responses to news of one of his hospitalisations were "Did he do something stupid?" and "Was he drunk?"
I've spent more time in hospital by his bedside than I have in hospital myself (3 pregnancies and 2 major surgeries).
Today was my diabetic eye test (drops and photographs) at the place 8 miles away - she did apologise for a suspected mix up as she had a batch of people sent to her instead of my local infirmary (my second home and go to place on my days off). Staff were fairly helpful and very pleasant after the shocking review scores (still had to follow lots of signs and no-one told me what to do when I got there).
Decided against trying to get to the outdoor equipment shop for trainers. I went round the corner to Morries and had to swap to my long range spectacles as the eye drops made everything green and subterranean. Spent $17 but included a fair haul of ys goodies and enough healthy salad/ veg to see me through the next 2 or 3 days. Got home at 5.30pm and ready for bedtime now.
Need to be up to catch the 9.30 am bus at the latest (may need to get an earlier one but can't buy a special all day ticket before 9.30 am) which means staying awake from 6 am.
Today I am grateful for an interesting day, good reading material and a selection of healthy food.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
