Ooh, I really enjoyed the new Mary Poppins lauren. Hope you do too.
Today I am grateful for being able to take it easy, for copious amounts of birdsong, for my tommies doing a triffids impression (when should I 'pinch them out'? And how do I do it?), for the tennis, for getting stuff I'll need on Monday, for dh taking dd to dance, for my book.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Of the things that I'm concentrating on, these items are what I've managed to act on (I've been on a 4 day caravan holibob):
Minimise:
-plastic
instead of bagging up my porridge mix (herbs, nuts and seeds etc) in single use bags, I used plastic clip boxes I already had.
-screen time (you’ll sleep better, get more done, be more sociable…)
the only screen time was google maps to find tourist destinations, and websites of places we were visiting to find out hours and prices
-spending
two lunches out (baked potatoes each time) but ate at the caravan for everything else: I'm a cow lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant vegetarian, and its just *easier* :rotfl:
-wants ( at heart, we are simple folk who don’t need much)
I bought an RNLI badge (and I haven't seen it since I came home, hmmm. Plus I'm plotting on making great use of my NT membership.
Maximise:
-fruit and veg intake (we know the health benefits)rubbish while away, but the side salads with the tatties were remarkable
-getting niggly jobs done (then they can stop bugging you)
been doing that today, and its paid off in the look of things.
-health (don’t pay for health issues later in life – be healthy now!)
Hmph! Not wonderful, actually, and certainly not getting enough sleep. Still doing well though.
-inner ninja superpowers (we all have them. Dust down the cape)
confirmed map-reading as my ninja superpower
-moving more (goes with health. Get shifting that booty)
we were on the go *constantly*! Been out in the garden, weeding, twice today.
-pennies (they are powerful. Treasure them)
holiday was *extremely* cheap. £60 between two of us for 4 nights away.
-time with those you love
holiday was with my sister2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi all:j
Minimise:
Bills Looking to get some secondary DG on our old windows to help with heating this place. This will be a long-term project IMHO. To that end:
Clutter: Lots to clear before even survey to do windows could be organised. Cleared some more stuff, this time upstairs. Also got rid of another bag of paper rubbish, I swear it breeds. More sorting upstairs today & more stuff into the garden waste bin. On wards & upwards. Not much clearance today, but did use up some fridge bits & other stuff to make soup for lunch & spag sauce for supper.
Spending: Need to budget for groceries. Starting with £300 including pet food. Have receipt ready to file, but about £35/300. Only spending today was on a course for the end of June, which got rid of my NSD.
Unnecessary spends Proud of myself today, as I saw a handbag I 'wanted' on a FB selling page, & immediately stated my interest. Then had second thoughts, it was nice, I did like it, it was being sold for a reasonable price, I have the money - but I have the same bag in other colours!! And lots of other bags too. Messaged seller to retract, no problem as she had a queue of people interested. DH however unimpressed with my restraint. Spent on course which technically was not necessary but is a cookery course cooking food from my heritage, so should be fun.
Waste: Ate leftover sandwiches for lunch - 5 days running now, did waste some pineapple that had gone bad. Thank goodness have no more blinking sandwiches left. Some fridge bits (of DDs) into dogs which I don't consider a waste.
Maximise:
Dreams (dream big): Would like to fit the DG as mentioned earlier, also need the driveway doing but would be a very large amount of cash as it's so big....Clearing the clutter will help enormously with this, both financially & in the long term. Outside painting needed now, will be a big job & need scaffolding. This again will be £££. Did find a few items for selling, ready for photographs. Added to pile of For Sale Items but bad weather meant I couldn't photograph as yet. No progress but found some other items to sell. Have funds building up in my b/a to pay for next trip.
Education
Fruit and veg intake: Definitely need to increase F&V consumption, on this. Fruit with breakfast & some fruit this afternoon. Need more fruit & no veg eaten today. Fruit with breakfast & lots of veg consumed in the form of soup for lunch & incorporated into spag bol sauce.
Getting niggly jobs done Painting inside & out, get builder to fit cowl on chimneys, get chimney swept, painting outside as well. No progress as yet. Too busy clearing/cleaning in prep for all the visitors. No progress yet. DH fitted new toilet seat yesterday, thankfully before visitors arrived as the seat was cracked, luckily he got it fitted as initially he said it didn't fit. Bravo HB! (& DH of course). Outside weeding the rockery this morning before the rain struck. Still struggling with little sleep, dogs restless & woke me every hour from 3.30 am..ugh. Does answering emails count as a niggly job - it does to me! Well in that case answered a few.
Health: Lose approx. a stone & a half. Probs no progress. See cake making & eating above. Same old same old. More visitors, another cake. Damn them all. Better diet today but ate a few sugary things due to feeling unwell. Still eating a bit of sweet stuff as head still bad. Hopefully some sleep tonight & better tomorrow. Hmm no comment.
Meal Planning: Need to meal plan as tend to go with the flow, and it doesn't always work out. Plan for next few days so far. Tomorrow this is happening choose what. Sort of, I do know what's for the next few days. Felt too poorly to clear out fridges though. Supper was just poached eggs on toast, all I could manage to cook today. Always feel this is not a proper meal. Back to meal prep in earnest & managed to make both lunch & supper from stores.
Moving more - More exercise taken as gardening. Todays exercise was cleaning AND gardening. Only exercise cleaning in the last 2 days. Note to self, do not have visitors round when you have 3 very large hairy dogs (and a cat) and it has been raining. Out in garden this morning, was very warm although that could be to do with me pulling weeds out of one of the many rockeries. More weed pulling but this time not sunny so easier. Short time outside today bit of weeding & more time in greenhouse potting on.
Time with those you love: Visit of uncle & aunt today, great to see them & did get to discuss a bit of FH with uncle, so a bit useful as well. Visit of BF yesterday, visit of other BF & guest today. Was a hoot - and they gave me a gift card!! And an orchid, how kind. Wish all visitors would pay for their visits LOL. They also said 1. Your hair looks nice (!) and 2. Have you lost weight (absolutely not). They can come again, soon. Time with DH today until I gave up & had a nap for an hour. Then DD came after her shift & after a meal out with her team. Emailed friend in US that I haven't been in touch with for a while. Lunch with DD & DH today.

Morning all,
Yesterday was NSD 5. It almost wasn't though. In the middle of writing my next blog post my mouse battery died.. I searched high and low to see if I could find a replacement and alas I couldn't. So I had to go to the shops to get somemore. However, I had a £5 Argos voucher and bought two packs of batteries for exactly that price. :T so essentially got them for free.
In the morning I made £5 on swagbucks and cashed out. I also got onto a focus group for my local housing association at the end of the month. They will refund my bus fees and also I will get some love2shop vouchers which will go towards my next food shop.
Today will be another no spend day, I have to finish the blog post and make sure its readable. :rotfl: I have given up on the crime book as its awful. I have started reading a book by Carolyn Spring instead but, have to read it in small doses. I also want to do some more work on my novel. No Spend November 2/15 and SPC 1340 -

So much for a 24hr society, took DS1 off to his further maths cramming session at school (on a Sunday!!) and wandered down the shopping precinct trying to find an open barbers to get kids hair done. Quite a few had 'Now open on Sundays!' signs put up in the window over the last fortnight. Obviously it did not mean 10.15 on a Sunday, it meant randomly, when they fancied it on a Sunday.
So I am sat here with my homemade frothy coffee watching politics and waiting to go pick DS1 up again.
Will line dry some laundry while it still looks good out, will knock 3 things off my to do list today, will studiously ignore DH prepping for his camping trip, might make scones and lentil soup for lunches next week. It looks like a washout here for the first 4 days, so a nice soup while staring at raindrops will be just the ticket.
And tidying.... I am going hardcore today on the bedrooms..

Thank you f0xh0les! They're only 4" tall so far...
Today I am grateful for a little lie-in, for a lovely relaxing bath, for line-drying 2 loads, for neither set of neighbours being around, for my head being a zillion times better than of late, for getting ready for the week ahead, for clean clothes and a snug house.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Evening everyone
I've had a lovely relaxing weekend chilling at home and been out for lunch with my friend today, reasonable cost and I don't think I'll need any tea either so that's quite MSE?!
I haven't used my car since I got home from uni visit on Friday eve.
I've made a conscious effort not to think about my FT job and didn't talk about it at lunch - or think about it either
I would've had a NSD yesterday but had to renew virus protection on our laptops - my personal one, the one I use for my PT role and DD2's - can claim back 1/3 for PT job.
Managed to almost dry my washing on the line today.
Walked 10k steps yesterday. Off for a walk now and to collect some shopping DD1's BF bought for me from the Swedish store
Grateful for - relaxing time at home; a good night's sleep last night; 2 x lie-ins over the weekend and reading my book
Hope everyone is feeling ok and ready to face the new week ahead

Hi guys
Just checking in. We’ve been away since Friday morning due to a family wedding. No more NSDs and OHs credit card has definitely taken a hit this weekend. The country house hotel was quite expensive and the drinks were very pricey. But it was an absolutely wonderful wedding and these things don’t happen often. I’m still feeling a bit tired and wooly headed so tomorrow I’ll do a menu plan and try and squeeze the budget to recover it a little bit.
We go on hol next month so now it’s a matter of cheap and cheerful as much as possible
The nice thing is because we do live frugally these expenses are possible
Anyway time to go
Bye for now guys
