    Morning all,

We had a lovely day yesterday, nice and chilled morning then out for a walk with the boys. Then in the afternoon we had a booking at the sports centre, as we had the kids playing with us they only charged us student rate for the court which saved us a couple of quid.

    Today's list
~ book gym sessions for the week :)
~ collect an order from sports direct nope will go in the week instead
~ call in to aldee as we need packed lunch stuff for tomorrow :)
~ move furniture in spare room, we've got rid of the bed and are making it into a man cave according to ds's!! Its the room dh works in when wfh and ds1s computer will go in here too as I won't let them have computers in their bedrooms. :) works so much better in there now, at some point we will replace the table in their for a proper desk as its not big enough for dh work really but will do until we find the right thing
~ ring sports centre to see if we can book a court for this afternoon. (and hopefully get the student rate again!) nope dh started with a migrane
~ ys bread or ys croissants for breakfasts :)
~ [STRIKE]freezer dive for lunch, thinking fish and chips (got a tin of mushy peas in the cupboard)[/STRIKE] jacket potatoes with fridge dive toppings!
~ cheese, salad bits, crackers and pate as a use up tea I think :)
~ make sure that ds2s school homework is completed :)
~ make families lunches for tomorrow :)
~ file away the stamps and vouchers from rm surveys :)

Thats my starter, take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

A bit of a spendy day yesterday.
In the afternoon I went to visit Shibden Hall (Gentelman Jack) - it's not far from me, and I've been meaning to visit for years!! £5 entrance, but I parked off-site so avoided the £1.50 car park charge. Might have had a coffee if there'd been a tearoom, but there wasn't, so I'm going to count that as a saving too!! It was absolutely fascinating, Ann Lister was such an interesting person. The series was filmed at the Hall itself, so I'm going to have re-watch previous episodes and see what I can recognise now that I've been there!!

In the evening I went to our local amateur theatre (£9 for a ticket, cheapest available). Not a brilliant performance, sadly - it can be a bit hitty missy!! Because I'd saved £1.50 on the car parking earlier, and not had a coffee out, I treated myself to an interval drink for £2.50. All in all I felt I'd wasted my money - £11.50 that I could have saved, as the performance was a bit turgid, and the wine wasn't good either!! Shame. It's a venue that I feel I can go to on my own, unlike pubs and restaurants where I would feel a bit out of place - but spending £11.50 to not enjoy myself isn't a good use of my money!!

Today should be better - I'm volunteering at the House, which often feels like a day out (after all, people come to us when they're having a day out!!), but will cost nothing. Mustn't forget to make some lunch.
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...

    Happy Sunday morning everyone
Quick read through the thread to catch up.
Haven't had much chance to get on, I seem to have a thousand and one little loose ends to tie up before the op next month plus other hospitals are involved with the planning so it's appointments to see them, the main hospital ringing me to go thru more stuff, tests required 2 weeks before that they've asked the GP to do, I have to admit it has left me feeling a little grumpy.
Been trying to tie up bits of paperwork aswell but everything that could go wrong went wrong yesterday but have been spending some lovely time with DD which makes up for the bad bits.

A little more decluttering done and items sent to charity for their tombola after they put out an SOS for things.
Spends book up to date but need to do the May month end.
Cashed out an amount out of quidco-can't believe I remembered to check it!

1LL it was great to hear about ur DS with his spends book and updating it and how he could have done something cheaper. It's one thing I am really proud of with DD is she looks at and monitors her spending. She always keeps the receipts and goes thru them. She openly says that money and budgeting should be taught in schools as if I hadn't of done it with her then she wouldn't have a clue. The final term they get their student loan with not that many weeks left yet many of her friends burn through their monies having nothing left to live on or live in their overdraft.

We definitely have not got the heatwave here, weather has been really bad. Have so much washing to do that I can't get dry that we are going to drop a big bagful off to a friend's laundrette to get it sorted.
Have family over this weekend so over to DM for Sunday day lunch. DD going to drop me back after

Have been working on getting my Christmas shoeboxes done. Had a lot of things left over from last year so have nearly completed 2. Have found big bars of chocolate, Tesc@s own for 30p that are really good for the boxes, need to get a couple more as I had to 'taste test' one!

trailing hopefully you will hear positive news about the job.

Right of to sort the cats out
Have a good Sunday everyone x

    Morning all :)
Up early as I didn't sleep well :(
Went to a boot fair and bought more plants :o Only £3.30 spent though! Also bought a nice bunch of beetroot and a melon from the fruit and veg stall, and a Terry Pratchett book, as I have never read anything of his :oAll spends dutifully recorded in diary.
    Walked dog
It is fine this morning, but rain is forecast for later on. Better get my plants in to make the most of it! Not done, as it started raining earlier than I thought it would. They are ok on the garden table for tonight.
    Other plans include:
Fold up washing dried yesterday and put away Done
Mend OH's trousers as one of the hems is coming down (I hate sewing :() Done, a bit of a struggle with my arthritic hands, but I refuse to allow it to prevent me from doing things - even things I don't like :rotfl:
Water tomato plants in greenhouse Done, also watered spring onion troughs as the rain seems to miss them.
Wipe down kitchen cupboards, which look messy :(Partly done - may do some more before bed, which will be early tonight! Don't know why I didn't get this done, as I don't have a very big kitchen :rotfl:
Read more of my current book - cheap entertainment, as it only cost £1 from a charity shop :)Not done, too tired to read
Cook a chicken for dinner later :)Done, had cold chicken, new potatoes and salad. Also made a naughty treacle sponge pudding in the microwave, which cheered OH and my brother up tremendously :rotfl:

Rain seems to have stopped, and it is forecast to be fine tomorrow, so I have put in another load of washing :T

HK, hope the preps for your surgery go ok and it is soon over for you.

Forgot to mention the very unfortunate spend. Got home on Thursday to find a letter... OH had been over the Merseyflow both ways driving to and from a gig and, it being the middle of the night, forgot to pay when he got home.

The system is pretty harsh. You drive over the bridge with no toll booth or anything. You only have 24 hours to pay and you have to do it online. You don't get any warnings until 2 weeks later when the fine pops through. £44 instead of £4 :(

It seems to me that it is designed to make you forget. Wasn't any need to tell OH off, he was absolutely gutted.

Ooh, a harsh system, CLF. Can see how it would be easy to forget payment.

    Hi all,
Postponed our day out, as I awoke feeling absolutely knackered & achy all over from yesterday's awesome day of gardening. Am having a gentle day instead. Even if I decided to go & plant the beans out, etc, it would be doubly silly, as it has been pouring with rain here for 3 hours, so the snail army would be gobbling my young bean plants overnight. A few money saving bits & bobs:
*Dealt with my stair basket, including putting all recent receipts on my desk ready for tomorrow's regular budget update/banking session.
*Checked greenhouse veggies for any pests/problems. Minor ants nest, but that's all.
    *Baked cheese oatcakes.
    *Wrote tomorrow's job list.
*Loaded washer for a timed load on the cheaper overnight tariff.
    *Knit current stash busting project.
    *Leftover chilli for tonight's meal.
*Leftovers from freezer for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Cashed in Ipsos points for a £10 voucher.
*Synchronised our diaries for the month ahead, which helps enormously with meal planning, packed lunches, budgeting, etc.
    *Mended a pair of tights.
    *Read my book (from library)
*Discussed some ideas for summer outings with mr f.
    *Discussed festival food/snacks.
    *Update my DFW diary.
And I think that will be all for today, as I intend to do not a lot.
    F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

    Hi everyone,

so I was on here some time ago and was successful in debt free and then...life...my failures and rotten failures I am now in 4k of debt again. I really need support from a place that isn't judgemental and can help me keep going whilst I clear the debt. I want to do this without my partner knowing because we did so well last time. I want to overcome this on my own. I already received some support to be on track with things and then my MOT! ouch!

But here goes, I will do my best to read the board for mutual support, add my own tips and get this debt cleared. Big thank you's in advance and if I can help anyone please ask. xxx

    So tonight, I am
scanning receipts for coins/points towards free shopping vouchers (daughters birthday next week)
print off claim form for ink/paper for DSA fund (money back for disability) use towards credit card

    lots of hugs unibear
  • Evening all, have managed to get washing dried on the line by waiting till the afternoon when the rain mostly disappeared. Have walked to my friend's house rather than drive so got in almost 10k steps. Made my packed lunch for work tomorrow. Did small shop in Mr S.

Oh no CLF - I've had a fine from the Mersey bridge and DD1 had a lot of fines till I signed her up for an account as an Xmas present. I've got an account too as we go to hospital in Liverpool a lot and means we don't have to remember to pay each time.

    See you all next week!
