What small DFW things will you do w/c 3rd June?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Morning all :hello:

Lovely and sunny here after some much needed rain for the garden yesterday. Before starting the thread I always check there isn't another one started and then do it ASAP to avoid a double thread. I had flashbacks to when we used to start a new one daily until I think it was Bob came up with the idea of weekly. It's much less stressful :rotfl:

Anyway enough ramblings. As the first has been and gone over the weekends, several payments in and out of banks to deal with this morning so:
    Check bank, update sheet
Put interest to either pennies account or savings depending on where it was generated from
Something out of freezer for tea
Pull together smalls packed lunch, leftover pasta bake already portioned up in fridge
One wash overnight on line, another in - will be out too in a short while
Check washing machine - it's making a funny noise
Pop out and get cheap things from a couple of shops, including coffee that's on offer at the moment.
    Wfh so no commute :j
Make a cake with what I have in so I can gift to someone tomorrow
Message pal whose son's birthday is today
    Some form of exercise later

Have a good day all Purps.
  • We nearly had a double thread on our hands purps! Luckily I got distracted and went off to check out my cc payment date.... Thanks for starting us off :D

Today I am going to do a day's shadowing at another team. Honestly am regretting it! I could have had a day off... but anyway!

    * get oh to ask his ma if she'll have madam at ours after school
    * take lunch & snacks
    * bus to work as ds has my car
    * order some items for decorating madam's room - got some bargains at the bootfair for it including a rug, a lamp, a picture frame & a photo holder :D
    * home early so will get to do some things this evening :D

Better go and get ready! Have a good day

    Morning all!

Thanks to purps (and nearly DNMS) for starting us off!

Deni - I thought you were quite near me. That bridge is a pig. We have a fast tag for the tunnel. OH looked at an account after he paid the fine, but we rarely go over it and they take a fiver off you just for having the account! (Although still cheaper than £44!).

Unibear - welcome on board. This is def a non judgemental place for your journey :)

I had a burst of productivity last night. i find that the light levels at this time of year make me very awake. I didn't settle until 11.30 last night (tired now though!). In the winter I'm dragging myself up at quarter to 9!

    Today's mission:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores - done
:heartpuls Walk at lunchtime (as programmed) - done
:heartpuls Nip into B&M for antihistamines - done. also picked up BBQ sauce as we are out and it's half the price of Asda
:heartpuls Do not even look at plants in B&M - one 50p plant doesn't count right?
:heartpuls Give the garden a good water as it's looking very dry. All that rain did nothing  - done
:heartpuls Charge phone in work - done
:heartpuls Washing in and away - done
:heartpuls Continue with scarf - done
    :heartpuls Check PMP - done
    :heartpuls No alcohol - done

    Have a good one all

    Morning all,

Thanks PF for the thread, I agree much easier now its a weekly thread :) I often think of Bob if I see roadkill! I hope her and her family are doing well.

Clf, thats really bad about the charge! How sneaky!

Unibear, welcome to the thread, its a really lovely place ..

Dnms, I love it when car boots work their magic! When ds2 was about three we changed his bedroom after a car boot trip where we'd bought some lovely next curtains a rug and a lamp all with cars on which he loved. We changed his bedroom and then the following week we did our own car boot and sold all the "baby" room stuff he'd grown out of.

    Todays list
    # ys bread used for ds1s breakfasts :)
    # ds2 to free school breakfast club :)
    # wash a load on the super quick 20 minute wash and hang on the line :)
    # run the dishwasher on the quick wash :)
    # refill water bottle at the gym at least once :)
    # empty dishwasher and wipe out the cupboards with stardrops/water mixture in my spray bottle :)
    # wash another load on the quick wash after checking the forecast :)
    # make families lunches for tomorrow :)
    # [STRIKE]make a quick chicken curry for tonights meal[/STRIKE] doing chicken salad instead as its turned out nice and warm this afternoon
    # update freezer inventory and do a rough meal plan based on whats left in the fridge
    # clear away tools properly in the garage after yesterdays furniture moving - everything in its place and a place for everything as my nan would say. :)
    # spot clean cream carpet as when we've moved one of the sofas its left a few black marks :)done the ones I'd seen but you know what its like, once you've cleaned some marks you then see others, so will give the carpet another go tomorrow in the better day light

Thats enough to be getting on with. I'll crack on with that for now and update when I have my next drink :)
    Take care all.
 prepped next weeks rm surveys
 correctly delivered survey done too
 added a couple of books to the pile we're going to offer ds2s school
 cancelled our n0wtv entertainment pass as we were on a reduced price deal and we don't want to pay full price next month, they offered another discounted price but as we're heading into the summer we'll watch less anyway and still have normal tv, catchup and amzn prime
 checked banking, updated spreadsheets, transferred pocket money and emailed spreadsheet back to myself as a back up.
 2nd load out on the line, its just started to spit with rain now, hopefully just a quick one as we've a lot of rain in the forecast this week and I'd like to be on top of mount washmore!
 ironing done, just what needed doing and I switched off as I started the last item - small things eh!
 my lunch is the end of a packet of crackers that had been sat in the cupboard since xmas with the last of the soft cheese from the fridge
 re-purposed a couple of side tables that had been relegated to the garage and conservatory, its now a mini stack unit which ds1 said was perfect for his computer games to be stored

Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Morning Campers,
Bright, breezy & cheerful-looking outside, so am feeling inspired to crack on with my job list. Here are the frugal bits:
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch (done)
    *Peg out overnight laundry (done)
*Wash another 2 loads on the most economical settings appropriate. A good few showers in the forecast for this week, so am going to maximise today's free drying opportunities. (Almost done. Final load in)
    *Dye skirt (In hand)
*Make dough for tonight's pizza & a batch of cobs (done)
    *Update budgets & banking (done)
*Stand remaining veg outside for hardening off (done)
*Put cash aside for gig tickets at the weekend (done)
    Still to do:
    *Water greenhouse veg.
*Plant out climbing beans & surround with the eggshells I've been collecting for the last couple of weeks.
*Free fitness sweeping back courtyard. Quite big, takes ages as involves moving patio tables, chairs & pots.
    *Sow more lettuce & radishes.
*Cut first lettuce & some other home grown leaves plus radishes for tonight's salad.
*Top dress a few used coffee grounds around witch hazel container.
*Aim to finish library book so a few things can be returned.
That will do, as the garden jobs will take me longer than I think they will.
Have a great start to the week, all.

Happy new week one and all :)

I am feeling the pinch of my recent off-wagon excursion. Not moaning, just a statement of fact.
I am also trying to be more together in a few aspects of my life – timekeeping, ironing, keeping the car clean. Basic things most people seem to manage quite well! Darn seagulls are making that last one difficult though :rotfl:

    Today’s list:

    - Meal plan (only got as far as tomorrow, need to buy bread today and am sick of supermarkets – do NOT want to be going more than once this week). I’m all out of ideas tbh, I feel so uninspired in the kitchen at the moment. Honestly if I could have milk, we’d just have cheese toasties all week. At least they’d be cheap :rotfl:
    - Supermarket shop WITH LIST
    - Send card to sis with what is possibly the last Christmas 2017 stamp
    - Agree weekend plan with OH
    - Mending or sock-knitting. Probably mending as I would like my blue blazer back in the work rotation.
    - Gym AM to use the membership - done
    - No alcohol (day 9 :D)

Hope everyone is having a good day :)
