bought a new, (old style) razor lol.

the double edged, stamped sheet of metal kind..

bye bye expensive multi blade cartridges (around £1.50-2 EACH even when bought in bulk). and only good for a few shaves, so each shave probably costs around 50p.

new razors, pack of 100 works out at 10p per blade, and get closer shave and more shaves per blade. so huge savings on shavings!

thats my MSE for this week

OK I went to the Mr A and I shopped without a list, and I might have over shopped, but we now have lots of lovely food and no reason to shop till Friday or Saturday for a small vege top up.
Tomorrow might be a LSD as am going on all day trip w students, on the other hand I'll bring food and snacks and stash a snack in the car for the trip home, as this is the most dangerous part of the journey.
Apart from over spend I cooked a lovely 2 day chili as will be home late tomorrow.
No real exercise today - so am feeling bloated and lazy.
Pretty much only food and conversation happen here mid week.

    Morning all :)
Nice and sunny here, at the moment anyway!
Thankful for this as I have a tetchy 18 month old grandson to look after for a good chunk of the day. Not much else will get done! He was actually a good little boy for Grandma :heart2::), after keeping Mum up for most of the night :( She had to deliver stuff for her small business this morning - OH drove her, as he was concerned she might be unsafe due to tiredness.
    But I have:
Had a handful of HG strawberries with breakfast :)
Dug my first new potatoes of the year (if you can call grubbing about in a pot 'digging') :D These were some odd ones that I knew I wouldn't have room for in the veg patch, so planted them in big pots really early on, and covered with fleece. Was a bit of a gamble, but paid off. If it had failed I would only have lost a few left over seed potatoes, so a no brainer really :)
    Checked banks
Dinner will be leftovers, plus lovely new potatoes :)We ate the leftovers for lunch :o so looking at jackets for dinner instead (I still have some baking potatoes to use up!)

I intend to take my boots to get them reheeled, which I didn't get to yesterday, and make some flatbreads later, to use up some not very nice yogurt, but if I get anything else done, it will be a bonus!
Fail re boots, I did take them into town but the shoe repair shop is apparently closed on Wednesdays - so still not done :(

Flatbreads done, had some for lunch to wrap leftovers, the rest have been frozen :)

Also froze some of the jam sponge I made yesterday :)

Popped into garden centre as OH wanted some advice on some machinery thing - bought only some seed for the birds (love our sparrows :)) and some reduced pork chops from the farm shop. Looked longingly at plants, BUT I HAVE NO MORE SPACE!!!!
Gave DD the cabbage plants I didn't have room for - I used about half of them, and there were loads for £1 (boot fair not garden centre purchase)
Cleared a trough of salad leaves - they are getting a bit tough and bitter now :( Kept the best leaves and composted the rest. I have 2 more troughs to do. Sad to see them go, but we have had pounds and pounds worth of salad from them, looking at the supermarket prices  I have a few plants remaining in borders in the meantime, plus self sown wild rocket and land cress. I have sown more lettuce, but it can be tricky germinating them in the summer. If they fail, I will buy a supermarket pack of 'living lettuce', split the plants up and grow them on :)

    Morning folks!

Ziggy - we cross posted. Big hugs to you xx

Ditty - your challenge for today is to get moving gently at least :) maybe a nice short walk?

Dawn - nice work on the bonus spuds!

Weighed in today - another 1lb down. That's 2lb in 2 weeks, with a bit of over eating too. I know this is going to sound odd, but that's actually a bit too fast (aiming to preserve maximal muscle mass and strip fat as opposed to losing weight) so I'm upping my calories a bit and looking to lose only 0.5lb a week.

    Today's mission:
    :heartpuls B/L/D from stores
:heartpuls Log cals in free app - done
    :heartpuls No alcohol
    :heartpuls Charge phone in work
:heartpuls Gym at lunchtime - done
    :heartpuls Crochet scarf
    :heartpuls Check garden
    :heartpuls Check PMP
:heartpuls Start thinking about a painting I have in mind - done

    Have a good one all

    Morning Campers,
I was sure I'd put a post on this morning - must be going gaga! A few frugal bits & pieces on the list for today but am not planning to overdo it:
*Free fitness hacking down the overgrowth at the back of one of my big flower borders. DONE (well as much as I could, as the brown garden waste wheelie bin is now so rammed with ivy, branches, briony, etc, I can't get another thing in it).
*Replanted a small area of the above bed with free plants. DONE
*Planted out the last 3 squash plants as this fell off my list yesterday. DONE
*Check for surveys - a couple of quick ones done. DONE (I might cash out my Prolific account as I've over £50 in there).
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Cut more home grown salad to serve with the two portions of leftover red bean pie I cooked yesterday.
*Feed all veggie plants which have begun fruiting.
*Knit more of my friend's socks for the presents box.
*Remind mr f he owes me some cashola for the survey voucher I'm selling him. Win-Win as I sell it to him at a discount, but I gain actual cash, which is more useful to me atm.
*All free leisure today. I was thinking about cycling into town, but I don't particularly need anything & these occasions can often lead to less than perfect charity shop splurges & coffee shop visits - not that I mind either of these as I do have a personal spends allowance each month, but we have a busy weekend coming up with festival day tickets & another gig in town, so I think I'd rather save my money for looking round all the festival stalls. So today, I shall stay in, read, knit, do some research online, watch a TV series & maybe write a letter. Nothing remotely spendy there!
    Have a good day all,
Trailing spouse - sorry to hear about the combined job/lodger problems. Hope things pick up very soon.
Ziggy - I was in a 'toxic friendship' for many years. It was absolutely liberating to be out of it. I now have no contact at all. I did think we might continue to do Christmas/birthday cards, but no, that didn't happen. I think the clean break was the right thing to do & I felt I should have done it at least a decade earlier.
    OK, time to crack on.
    F xx

    Afternoon all,

Ziggy, I had a couple of similar friendships over the years, very one sided and like Foxgloves, I wish I'd dealt with them much quicker then I did.

    Todays list
    # ds2 to free school breakfast club
    # gym session done to make the most of my membership & I refilled my water bottle
    # was meant to be going to aldee on the way back but I'd forgotten my list so came home for a coffee first (and picked up list!)
    # popped to aldee with the little list and stuck to it! Called in to collect repeat prescriptions for dh & ds2 whilst close by
    # collected some trainers and squash balls we'd ordered from sp0rts direct, as it was delivered into store we also got a £5 voucher to spend in store, so whilst there I bought a couple of mens toiletries sets £6 each or 2 for £9, used the £5 voucher so just paid £4 cash for 2 xmas bits for the kids

    Still need to
    # check banking/update spreadsheet :)
    # make families lunches for tomorrow :)
    # make a chilli and a spag bol for the next couple of days :):)
    # more carpet spot cleaning to be done :)
    # message my sis about maybe borrowing a sleeping bag for ds2, rather then buying one :)
    # tie back a Photinia bush that is now a bit too big, as I'm trying to reverse my car onto our drive its bashing the side of my car. :)

    Take care all.
