Anyone who’s bought a Huawei phone in the last year or two will be pretty unhappy at this, and clown Trump’s efforts to get re-elected - the real cause.
Hardly retailers’ fault, but some of the better ones (Amazon?) may take a pragmatic view of the situation and offer refunds.
This is where the really good retailers have the opportunity to show how good they are.0 -

I'd be surprised if anyone offers a refund, at best it'd be a discount on a new phone from another supplier.
And to be fair, why would they? Even if you can't get Android R for instance the phone would still work.0 -
Bought an Honor phone last year, love it. So that will probably update to the next Android, but not the one after that.
Can't say I'm bothered. Phone still works, and I generally change phone every three years anyway. Whichever brand I buy, they generally "stop releasing" android version updates for my phone after 2-3 years, so this is no different.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Why should they?
Any phone out there now is going to carry on working just like it does today, they even expect the current phones to be eligible for Android Q.
It’s buying a Huawei Mate 30 later this year or a P40 next year that is more of an issue (mainly for Huawei).====0 -
I wouldn't of worried about mine but they stopped issuing free bootloader unlocks meaning members of the public couldn't make home made custom updates. Shame really as my first and last experience with them0

I'm just waiting for Trump and his friends at Apple/google to try this trick with my Lenovo laptop, could well be next. The spying bit has been going on for years in most countries so this is just an excuse to try to build up Apples flagging i-phone sales.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I will never ever buy another samsung or iphone again. I had a couple of them many years ago but if Huawei will go bad I will stick with another chinese/cheap brand (xiaomi &co). I also don't mind if there will be no other update for android (I was never a fan of endless updates).
I wont pay extra for a stupid brand. Google and it's apps is spying on us for years, all apps from G store ask for any permision regards to it's intend, 'merica is spying on it's allies for years, social media platforms is spying and using personal data of it's customers for years and now those who spread democracy in the world are scared of chinese who might use their equipment to spy on them.0 -
mustiuc, Ive got the redmi note 5, had it a year. Best phone ive ever owned. Battery lasts 2 days+, quick as a £800 phone, and basically can do 99% of what any phone can do. And it was £1100

I purchased a Huawei phone for my daughter at the same time as I pre ordered the Galaxy S10. I believe this was late March, early April. As this news has hit today I was wondering where that would leave me as the bill payer and my daughter as the user of the phone. If, as things seem likely to, that Huawei are going to be unable to provide new security updates for their newer product lines, this leaves me with a lot of concern as she isn't even a teenager yet. Not to mention the fact that she has to travel to high school using public transport and the use of me being able to continue to use Google's Family Link as a means of knowing where she is will also be rendered useless.
Where does this development leave someone like me in this position?0 -
Maybe you should send an "official" complaint to Google and United States Government.0
