Take a photo' of your doorstep and ask if they have any of that type already. Ask if their collection of doorsteps is open to the public and if so is there a charge as a number of people on MSE are interested in seeing them.

Ask if they just collect them or do they do swapsies as you would prefer a different style.

Coupon -Mad kindly tweaked my letter that I sent to the hotel (post #6) I also wrote to them before this but nothing back. The hotel has a terrible reputation & when I knew our friends had booked it I suggested they change it but they had already paid & thought it would be OK for one night – it wasn't!
I still have our conversation on messenger about all this, including them asking if they could leave their car at ours because of the ridiculously high cost for overnight parking at the hotel. Also all of our arrangements for dropping off & collecting them the next day. I thought it best not the delete it for now!

Get back in touch withy the hotel and ask why they haven't answered/replied to your letter, tell them what has happened since - badly worded and misleading letter claiming to be from a debt recovery company, tell them that they are liable for their agents actions and you are taking this as a data protection/GDPr breach.

Draw up a letter, and send it based on the above, although its not recommended in most cases, you could phone them as well and ask to speak to the manager/peson in charge and state what is in your letter, keep a record of the phone call ( ie the time you called and who you spoke to) as it may come in handy if you need to show that you have taken all reasonable steps to resovle this matter

I have had yet another threatening letter from Credit investigation Services with NOTICE OF LEGAL ACTION. In huge type across the top! & then.. “ in view of the circumstances I see no option but to give notice that unless payment is received within 7 days I intend to recommend that court proceedings be commenced against you”

Obviously I haven't paid! I haven't heard back from the hotel or MP but I have just received this email ( below) from the DVLA I have underlined the bit that I find particularly annoying! Why should they take NPE’s word against mine when I have witnesses who where in the car?! It doesn't give me much faith in them that's for sure!

If this does go to court how much notice do you get? It’s just that we have a few days away planned at the end of the month for my birthday & I'm a bit worried it might fall then!
This is doing my head in but I’m sticking it out as they are lying gits & did nothing wrong!

The DVLA takes the protection and security of its data very seriously and has procedures in place to ensure data is disclosed only where it is lawful and fair to do so and where the provisions of Data Protection Law are met. The DVLA provides vehicle keeper details as a first point of contact to allow the driver to be identified. While seeking to ensure that vehicle keeper data is released only in appropriate circumstances, it is not a matter for the Agency to decide on the merits of individual cases or to arbitrate in any civil disputes between motorists and private car park enforcement companies. The DVLA cannot regulate any aspect of a company’s business. Any representations should be made to the landowner or his agent. However DVLA has been in correspondence with National Parking Enforcement Ltd and DVLA are satisfied with the evidence they provided. To help ensure motorists are treated fairly when any private parking charge is pursued the DVLA discloses vehicle keeper information only to companies that are members of an appropriate Accredited Trade Association (ATA). The purpose of requiring a company to be a member of an ATA is to ensure that those who request DVLA information are legitimate companies that operate within a code of practice that promotes fair treatment of the motorist and ensures that there is a clear set of standards for operators that cover, among other things, signage, appeals processes, and methods of contacting drivers. The company in question, National Parking Enforcement Ltd, is a member of the International Parking Community Ltd (IPC) which is an Accredited Trade Association for the parking industry. The IPC’s code of practice is published on its website at https://www.theipc.info under the heading Accredited Operators Scheme. If a member of this AOS does not comply with the code of practice, it may be suspended or expelled, during which time no data will be provided to it by the DVLA. If you feel that any of the practices used by the company do not comply with the IPC’s code of practice, you may wish to contact the IPC at P O Box 431, Knutsford, WA16 1EP I trust I have explained matters but, if you remain unhappy with the service you have received, you can write to our Complaints Team and I have provided a link to our complaints procedure leaflet for your reference. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver-and-vehicle-licensing-agency/about/complaints-procedure

A Letter before Claim must firstly give you 30 days notice,

Then (after that, not within the 30 days and usually 2 months later) a claim, that then gives you 14 days from service to acknowledge.

Loads of warning. But read what Brown Trout has posted:
