    Hello

    Just checking in with a quick hello and saying I'm reading but not posting. Things are very busy which is great for not spending, but not so good for sleep and relaxation. I need to get over the fact that I can't control everything that's going on in life - things aren't great at work at the moment. Not me directly but there's lot of unhappy people for one reason or another at the moment - and I always hate a negative atmosphere.
    Loads of work to do at the minute (and exams haven't even started yet) so I'd best get on.

    Evening all :)
    Lazy day today
    A few small things:
    HG fruit for breakfast
    Walked into town with OH for free exercise. Looked round the charity shops, bought a pair of trousers in one of them.
    Didn't buy anything else, but have given a small donation to a charity thing walk my niece is doing tomorrow, so a low spend day at least!
    Load of washing dried on the line, as it actually didn't rain :T
    Bit of cleaning / tidying
    Watered seeds / seedlings in greenhouse

    All food was from home, made sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry, to use the big bag of spinach OH cut yesterday. Plenty left for Monday dinner as well :)
    Earlyish night tonight, as we will be up early for the car boot sales tomorrow :)

    Busy old day ahead today.
    Not helped by the fact that I went out for a walk yesterday. My normal walk takes me along the canal and then back home by the road, and takes about half and hour. But yesterday I kept going. It was a lovely day despite a grim forecast, and it just seemed a shame to head home. I ended up walking for 3 hours, which was just fab - but my hip's playing up this morning, dammit.
    First of all, the husband is coming over to sort the car out (we have a classic car in the garage - I don't want it, and he doesn't have room for it, so we've decided to sell it and split the proceeds. But first it needs to get through its MOT...). We get on OK, now that we've split up, but it's always just a bit weird having him in the house.

    I'm going to have to leave him to it, as I'm volunteering all day. Not sure what I'll be doing this morning. I got an email a few days ago asking for help in the House as they're going to be short - but then I got another email saying they might pull me out of the House to do Something Else. There's a Wedding Fayre and a coach trip happening today, so I could end up doing anything from decorating the Barn to doing a guided tour! Then this afternoon I'll be doing a demonstration of butter-making, the old-fashioned way - first of the season, so I'm definitely sweating the petty things as far as that's concerned.

    There's a load of washing in, which will get hung out before I go - and hopefully time for a second load in and out as well. My machine does an 'Everyday Quick' wash at 40 degrees in 50 minutes, including a 1000 spin - so useful!!
    Sunday is Rubber Chicken Day 1 - I'll be ready for it by tonight!!

    Morning trailingspouse :D enjoy your day. Is making butter the old fashioned way putting it in a jar and shaking till it seperates? That's how I've made it in the past

    Today:

    * refill holes filled yesterday - they are deep and needed to build up to get proper fill!
    * more sewing - I made 1 cushion cover yesterday. Want to make another but need to work out how to stabilise as it is stretch velvet and I want to put a zip in this one. Think I've worked it out
    * more sewing - finally hem top :D (have needed oh to pin but he hates doing it and each night there has been something else to do!
    * think I'll get dressed in a minute and go to the bootfair :D
    * would like to go to the allotment for an hour
    * finish madam's hw with her
    * hang washing on line
    * roast chicken for dinner
    * go for a walk

    Ok that will do. Have a lovely day y'all

    Morning determined!!

    No - you can make it that way, of course, but I use an actual butter churn. I use a glass one with plastic beaters, because we need to be able to sterilise it (Food Hygiene), but we have a replica dasher churn and an actual barrel churn for people to have a go with as well. The most exciting part is just not knowing whether it will 'come' or not... I always have 'some I made earlier' just in case!

    When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
    But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
    Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
    So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:
    Love this. It is what I tell my self often too. I regularly think to myself "whats the point?" for example turning off lights when leaving a room or keeping a manual spreadsheet of all my expenses and spending. Then I remember how much of an effect it has in the rest of my spending. Being able to control spending and keeping track has helped my immeasurably over my journey.

    Morning all!

    DNMS - your sewing day sounds fab
    ccl - hang in there. It's horrible when the atmosphere in work is bad

    It's blimmin lovely here! We had a fun meal last night. OH is stuffed to the gills and still asleep. I've taken the day off and I'm enjoying the luxury of not needing to go anywhere at a certain time. No work, no gym. Ahhhhh. I feel much better for taking a slow weekend. I suspect that's what was making me feel so anxious - I kept adding to a to-do list of my own making.

    Today's mission:
    :heartpuls B/L/D from stores
    :heartpuls Cook any bits that we need for the week. I currently can't find the meal plan but i just blind baked the quiche base as I know that's for lunch
    :heartpuls Bit of crochet in the garden
    :heartpuls Put away washing

    And that's about it!

    Have a good one all
