Morning all!
HK - lovely to "see" you and wishing you all the best for your ops
DNMS - hang in there and be gentle on yourself xx
Ally - enjoy your day off
Big hugs and hellos to everyone else
Forgive me DFWers for I have sinned...
Very spendy day yesterday... We went to Tatton Park and my goodness they know how to get some money out of you! £7 just to park the car, another £7 each to get into the farm.
I should have channeled foxgloves and took a picnic but we weren't sure what the weather was going to do, so another £16 was spent on lunch
And then the inevitable happened... you guessed it... a takeaway.
Oh dear. Still, I've been so twitchy recently, I think a little blow-out was inevitable. Kinda feel like I've got it out of my system now. And I did have fun
Today I'm back with my proper pants on.

Morning all from a grey Derbyshire!
A NSD managed yesterday due to anniversary lunch being paid for by gifted cash. A long walk in the countryside then a bit of garage clearance afterwards so super low cost day.
Today:
* Speak to daughters dance school about spreading cost over the year instead of being hit with big half termly invoices
* Update budget spreadsheet
* Plant up my 2 fuschias that my mum gave me as she bought too many to get the deal at the garden centre
* Healthy snacks and packed lunch for work made from stores and also kids pack ups were from stores
* Small trip to Tesco for a couple of fresh bits for tea and tomorrow
* One load of washing done before work and on the airer, another all sorted to wash later
Does anyone have a link for the Royal Mail surveys? The one I found doesn't work.
Catch you all later

Great to see a new week and a new thread.
Had a really bad few days for spending and seriously need to tighten the belt from now till the end of the month. Just to summarise from the last few days:
Had a blow-out on my way to work on Friday. Total loss, no way it could be repaired. I fitted the spare at the roadside and it got me to work, garage also saw me same day but it was £75 for a new tyre. Arrgh.
Someone tried to kick down our back gate while we were both at work a couple of weeks ago. Like the tyre, this gate also can’t be repaired - lock was smashed, frame all twisted and loose, panels cracked. I have boarded it up to make it secure temporarily. Got a quote for a new door and secure locks, fixings etc through on Saturday, OMG it is astronomical, I can’t bring myself to type the amount. It has taken the whole amount I had saved for this month. Arrrrgh x2.
Sat morning when it was bright & breezy I did two big loads of washing, pegged it all out then when it was about half dry it got very dark, very quickly and I watched hailstones bouncing off it for the next two hours. So it all had to come in and be put in the dryer. Arrrrgh x3!
Hoping for a better week with as many NSD as I can manage.0 -
Hi all , Thanks Ziggy for the thread.
Welcome to new posters, its a great thread and it keeps us on track
Dnms, I hope the anxiety has passed. Maybe brought on by the thought of going back to work before the end of your sick note?
HK, lovely to hear from you, I'd wondered if you were in for the tests. I hope they get you sorted out quickly.
CCL, sounds like a stressful few days but nice to hear you've had a nice restful Monday.
Hi to everyone else
We had a nice weekend and didn't spend much which was a bonus.
Still to do today
* check banking/update spreadsheet done
* hoover spare room as we've decided to get rid of the spare bed as it was rarely used and dec the room out better as its where dh works when working from home, so its given him lots more space, weve moved the two seater sofa out of the sitting room into there too so lots of tidying to finish off done
* find new home for bedding taken off spare bed - done well for now, its in a bag in the wardrobe til we decide what to do with it!
* add to the cs bag done
* add to the fabric recycling bag, I know there are some t shirts that are well past it upstairs somewhere
* move some clothes out of ds2s wardrobe that are a little short on the leg, will keep them for next month when hes got a school trip which includes a muddy asault course or two! done
* book a table for Saturday lunch, going to meet up with the inlaws about half way between the houses as we've not seen them since October, so glad they agreed as it means 6-7 hours driving in the day rather then 12-14! done and it means we don't have to leave at the crack of dawn!
* make families lunches for tomorrow done
* share bath water and continue using up lotions and potions
* make a quick chicken curry & rice for tea done well kind of, going to have it on jacket spuds instead for a change
Thats it, I've finished my :coffee: so better get on!
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

The weather here is pretty grim - but I think it's like this everywhere in the UK today, so I won't take it personally!
And good enough weather for what I need to do -- ironing (much reduced now that himself and his shirts are no longer around, but still needs to be done occasionally!!)
- put away the washing that was drying round the radiator overnight, and put some more washing on the clothes horse Done
- prep for 'work' (I'm a volunteer, but...) - I'm doing some training next week and as we've changed the way we do what we do I need to get my own head around it before I can explain it to anyone else! Also Sunday will be our first butter-making of the season, so I need to check that everything's in place for that and that I can remember how to do it. Done
- we have a fairly large outstanding invoice, which they promised to pay this week, so I need to check the business bank account to make sure it's gone in It hasn't. Will check again on Friday just in case they meant 'next week', then it'll be a grade 3 phone call...
- cancel house insurance as I've found cheaper elsewhere. It's on auto-renew, so if I don't tell them before 12th they'll charge me. Done
- make some biscuits, using some out-of-date flour and ginger They've just come out of the oven. Forcing myself to wait until they've cooled down (rather than scoffing the lot right now, which is what I really want to do)
- rubber chicken day 3, so strip the bones, make stock and then make some chunky soup for tonight's dinner. It'll be chicken and chutney sandwiches for lunch (chutney is from stores - 2 1/2 jars still in stock!) Done, while the biscuits were in the oven.
- have a sort out in the office. It's really a spare bedroom, but without beds at the moment. I want to make it less of a dumping ground and more of a useable workspace. Not too sure how to go about it - the obvious solutions would involve spending money, so I'm going to have to be creative. Reorganised the bookcase so I could get more books onto it, and brought an old chest through from the bedroom (which involved re-organising the bedroom...) for extra storage.
- remember to put the bin out - and empty the bathroom and kitchen bins while I'm at it Weather is still atrocious - starting to think the bin isn't really that full, it's not the end of the world if it has to wait two more weeks...
- gym tonight Done
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Morning

trailingspouse that's quite a list you have there! Good luck with getting through it
ziggy so sorry to hear of your poor health. I know it's hard when your mind wants you to be capable of more but the body isn't will. Try to enjoy the rest as much as you can x
Today I have a full day ahead of me as madam will go to ASC as I have an appt at 5.
Weather here is miserable! Despite that the dog needs walking x 2! He is such a treasure, so well behaved and has such a nice temperament. He goes away with his other family tomorrow for 2 weeks so we are making the most of him for the ext 24 hours!
Today:
[STRIKE]* take duvet to launderette[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* go into town and get zip and return duff slime kits[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* go to sm and stick to list - big shop today....[/STRIKE]
* more decorating -[STRIKE] going to pick up some paint in wilkos while in town - continue with undercoating/glossing cupboards/shelves [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* tidy,[/STRIKE] vacuum & polish madam's room
[STRIKE]* make dinner before going to appt[/STRIKE]
* portion of pearly barley and chard soup for lunch
* job search
[STRIKE]* read free book[/STRIKE]
* sewing
[STRIKE]* make a loaf of bread this evening [/STRIKE]
Ok that'll do. Have a great dayDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all

Rotten weather, wet and cold, here too
Sorry to hear that you are struggling Ziggy - hope you feel better soon!
DNMS, our dog doesn't 'do' rain, possibly because the puddles tend to be bigger than he is :rotfl:He hasn't even been outside yet this morning  If it stops raining he will get his walks - otherwise we have the daft situation of walking in the rain with the dog tucked inside my coat! He got one walk, during a short break from the rain, but it looks as though the second won't be happening and he will have to be shoved out (protesting) into the garden at some point when it isn't raining too hard :rotfl:
Definitely not gardening weather, so will find some cleaning to do instead! OH pushed the hoover round downstairs while I walked to the post office - does that count?
And possibly a freezer inventory as mine is hopelessly out of date
Done
Loads of food in there!
Need to post some ebay parcels - all wrapped up ready in preloved packaging
Done
Took a couple more items to sales unit as it is just round the corner from the post office
Maybe a small shop, or might make do till tomorrow... Tomorrow it is! Which means today was a NSD :T
Leftover spinach pie for lunch Done
And sweet and sour chicken in the fridge for dinner Done
Read more of my book for free entertainment
Not yet!
Anyway, kitchen clean up to get started - hope everyone has a productive day!
Had a surprise call from relatives from afar (well, 100 miles or so away) to say they were visiting the area and could they pop in - so made a quick cake, defrosted some scones from the freezer, and did impromptu afternoon tea for my cousin and her husband, my cousin's mum (my aunt) and cousin's mum's sister (aunt to both me and my cousin). Lovely surprise, and so nice to catch up with family we rarely see
