Who said anything about connenecting to Edinburgh (Scotland) ;)

Not just about speed but creating a network that meets 21st century demands. Linking up major cities. Allowing for greater seat capacity.

Cannot go on increasing road capacity.
In which case they need to improve rail links for the east-west traffic, and not put in something like HS2 IMO

I did. I think HS2 only makes sense if you use it to speed up the link all the way up to Glasgow/Edinburgh (because I'm not sure if it makes sense to go all the way to Aberdeen).
Of course, I doubt London would want to bother spending that much infrastructure money on barbarians.

I agree entirely, we need a Victorian era bash at building infrastructure again. Japanese trains are travelling about twice as fast as ours are and there's no reason we couldn't be catching up.

This is what the EU want
    - tie the UK to EU rules and regulations indefinitely.
Nope, just until we have an ongoing relationship sorted, and if we want to keep the Eire/NI border open.

    - To make UK a vassal state and subservient of the EU subject to rulings from the ECJ.
Following the ECJ makes us equal partners, not vassals, unless we give up out seat at the table...

    - Hand over trade policy to the UE with no democratic accountability.
Only if we stay in the SM/CU, and it's completely democratically accountable.
    - To make UK a cash cow without any voice give some £30bn of taxpayers’ money without getting any agreement over the long-term trading relationship.
Nope. Paying up our pre-agreed share of existing debts doesn't make us a cash cow, it makes us an honest and reputable diplomatic partner.

The ECJ is for your benefit.

Please provide rulings from the ECJ which you think are wrong. Thanks

I thought you were totally against bringing the wars into these discussions - only when it suits then?

Remainers are obsessed with WW2. It comes from living in the past when white imperialists ruled the world. And intertwining the French and German coal markets were thought to be Europe's best hope of avoiding WW3.

If you have to follow other countries rules, law without having any voice, influence to change make amendment of the law, rule, regulation could it be called an equal partner ??

If the EU change the law which will have a negative impact on the UK without UK have any voice, influence, veto right, equal partner ehhh ???

This will happen if the current government sign the TM WA.

    .

Are there any UK MEPs seat left when UK leave the EU ??
Could the UK MEPs still challenge or Could UK veto the EU if the EU propose to change the law, rule, regulation ?.

And keep in mind TM WA which is what EU wanted UK to sign have been rejected three times in the parliament. So it is all cross parties effort. Could you argue that you know better than these MPs about the law ? Keep in mind many MPs have a very good knowledge of the international law. Few of them such as Dominic Raab, Geoffrey Cox are even international lawyers.

TM has fallen into the EU trap making the UK the cash cow and subservient of the EU indefinitely without having any voice. It will only a naive person will not be able to see that after putting TM into this trap the EU will want to reopen the WA and let it to be scrutinised again. As always the EU will keep using the future trade deal as a threat if UK refuse to sign the current WA. Even the PMs contestants to replace TM agree that the current WA is unacceptable.

But God saves the UK in the last minutes before this country become the vassal state.

If UK leave with no deal blame the EU.

  • sorry to break in to this ‘discussion’ but
firstly I’m fed up being referred to as a ‘remoaner’ simply because I voted to remain in the EU. It’s rude and offensive.
Yes I was one of 49% of the overall vote who had voted to stay. However as the leave vote was hardly a landslide victory I don’t think it is unreasonable for remainers to comment or indeed campaign for a decent deal or a 2nd referendum (sadly now unlikely) .
I’m quite sure that had the result been the other way round, Leavers would have done the same.
However the Leave vote did win albeit with a tiny majority. But please leave stop the cry ‘the people voted to leave’ the EU.
I live in the east of England where the leave vote won with an embarrassing landslide. Whilst I’m quite sure many voted to leave because they genuinely wanted to leave the EU ( and that’s fine), unfortunately many here voted simply because they don’t like Eastern European’s living here. I can think of numerous people who I personally heard saying they were voting for the first time ever having never before voted in any elections just ‘so all the foreigners would have to leave’!!
As the Eastern European’s are practically the only ones who are prepared to work in the fields and factories here , it would have been interesting to see who they thought would do these jobs.
But the point I’m making is that for many, their voting was based on inaccurate understanding of what the vote actually was. Therefore if they had not voted as usual, it would have been a very different outcome.
Ah well!! I’m not a moaner so will respect the result but I don’t respect our PM and team despite having been always been conservative voter .

However I did accept the result as I thought we lived in a democratic country. I respected my friends who voted to leave if they had given it careful consideration.
But the latest action by Boris & co to suspend parliament for the transparent attempt to rush through a no deal has finally shown up their true colours.
