Will Brexit happen?

How quickly things change though.
A year+ ago, and Nigel Farage was seen as irrelevant pretty much. PM May rejected offers to involve him.
Cut to now, and Farage's Brexit Party is playing the other parties like a cheap fiddle.

I honestly think that is the result of a knee jerk reaction from those who really do not understand the implications of leaving the EU with no deal. So they go with the charlatan who promises unicorns in the morning. Right.
I understand if you disagree with me. But cool heads with backup information about the reality of No Deal are required now. But I doubt anyone on that side of the fence really care anymore about the effect of rejecting a deal for any of us.
It is purely tribal and hatred of the EU without any real analysis IMV.0 -

It's not disagreement. I think I, like many, misunderstood the political desire to promote their own interests. Maybe it is their natural desire to self protect.
The next GE could see tactical voting on both sides, and that's precarious if you're a MP with a marginal seat.
Farage is trying to narrow down the options of the next Tory Premier.0 -

Next election might be too late, if a no deal Brexit happens before that. What a disaster that would be, and if I, a total dilletante re politics can see that, I wonder why politicians who are supposed to be representing our interests cannot see this also. Smug smiley lol.
Anyway, we are doomed. I think. And the UK really needs a big wake up call if they wish to participate in a global economy. They have no choice now.... Global it is.
And really, better to be inside the tent than peeing on it from the outside :cool:0 -
There really needs to be a UK wide debate/forum on this with representatives from all areas and communities. Give us a chance to question things full on and demand answers about the consequences of any decision made.
Where were you for the last three years of tedium?
We already have a UK wide forum with representatives from all areas and communities, it's called Parliament. In fact we have two fora, Lords and Commons. That is quite enough.0 -

Not really. They have had three + years and just cannot make a decision. Lame and frightened to be leaders.
Parliament is the one thing that keeps me sane. They have downvoted everything. Great. So what could they upvote would you like to tell me. These are our representatives looking out for the good of the country, supposedly, even if the potential Tory PM is thinking otherwise.0 -

Global? The world appears to be becoming increasingly protectionist. The old powers are struggling to contend with the new kids on the block.0 -

Not at all, it is global, and you really know it. Give me an argument against global trade. What countries are protectionist.
Or should I say give me an argument that UK will be great under WTO immediately on 31st October. I am sure UK is well for prepared for that. ha.0 -

An argument against?
Okay. We bought tech services from India. In a ten year period the rate increased by 3 fold. It was more expensive than local labour here.
Except...there wasn't the local labour available. The Indian companies had cornered the market and they knew it.
It's monopoly of supply. UK companies did it in the past, and now Chinese and Indian companies will eventually do it.
You need a much more balanced arrangement IMO. Right now, the West is reliant on the new players for such vast amounts of stuff.0 -
I feel bad about voting for david cameron, but I haven't voted conservative since.
I wonder how many other life long conservative voters who have been sucked into this vile brexit obsession will regret their decision.
The extra support labour received in the last general election was a protest against brexit, which is why conservatives no longer have a majority. I'm not a labour supporter, but even they can't do as much damage to the country as the conservatives trying to hold the two halves of their party together.
We should just let the party split.
I have often wondered how much better our world would be now if people had voted for Ed in 2010. No referendum, no endless Brexit nothingness. We’re on the road to nowhere...0 -
Sad times for the UK now, it's not as if everyone is behind No Deal Exit is it?
Some are, and I include the clueless incumbents for Tory Leadership i.e Johnson. He is a despicable moron imo. But others obviously think he is God's Gift to the UK.
How anyone could think that person is fit to run our country is beyond me. But there we are. The laughing stock of the world.
And before anyone lights on me, I do realise that the current election is confined to Tory voters in the end. God help them. And us, unnerving to think that we will be ruled by a PM who is unelected by the country.
Very worrying. But them's the rules I suppose.0
