ccl - I said to my DD yesterday 'this too will pass'. Hugs to you.

apple - thanks for the support about the D of E, I think we will try to get it done with an out of school organisation. On the subject of robins we have them nesting in our garage at the moment, one has built a nest on a shelf in the middle of all the things on the shelf and is sat in it very quietly now so must have eggs, I am trying to avoid that area but am very excited about robin babies.

mothernerd - a smear is bad enough without going through that, the poor woman.

    Photogenic Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning chums,

Number 9 yesterday and today should be number 10, too.

For anyone who uses YNAB, my new money goal is to get my 'age of money' old, something in the 30's I think. This NSD challenge helps.

Morning all. Apologies for absence - combination of busy-ness and tiredness!

Dolly - also agree that removing DD from DoE sounds like the right thing. whilst DoE is great, it doesn't sound like the school group is the best. Hope you find somewhere else for her to do it :)

Spending continues on food and other stuff - inc new tablet screen for DS2 - OH is going to try and sort it himself so has ordered one from flebay.

Lovely dinner on Sunday- invited friends who are having their kitchen redone and we had the leg of lamb I bought for Easter but it was too warm at the time and we had a bbq :) Leftovers were consumed last night and some more tonight (bubble and squeak) so all is good :)

Am looking forward to half term next week!!

Make a budget and stick to it YNAB is UTD. Food budget is higher than expected and have spent more than was in medicine pot due to DH illness. DS party came in on budget. Dreading next month when DH gets SSP for a week. :(

New cleaner started (paid for by the big reduction in our food bills by no longer drinking in the house) and did a great job. I am amazed by the reduction in my stress levels last weekend because I wasn't trying to fit in the housework as well as everything else and how I have made an effort to keep the place tidy knowing she is coming again later in the week. It was also nice to spend more time together as a family instead of DS amusing himself while we try and make an impression on the pig sty.

Enjoy the month DS loved his little birthday party and we have enjoyed some family run/bike rides and walks with the dog.

Read On book number 10 for the month. :)

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more
Processed Food and Booze - I have had 1 beer all month and, apart from last week, we have been on plan and clean eating
Weight - Weigh in is tomorrow and expect to have lost 5lb against my target of 10lb.
Food Waste and Plastic - Some salad stuff wasted last week as DH couldn't eat the planned food. Made the decision to buy some new plastic tubs as running low and can't think of an acceptable alternative.

Increase, increase and increase even more
Water - this is going badly. Aiming for 4 big glasses a day for the rest of the month from today (on 1 so far today)
Family Time Spent Outside - this has been going well even if DH couldn't accompany us last week. Played lots of rounds of the board game DS got for his birthday
Clean Eating Meal Planning - back on plan this week, work to be done on creating new 2 week plan for when this plan finishes if DH doesn't get one from the gym with the next course

    Move it!
Walking - Walking challenge has been cancelled
Running - up to 50 minutes walk/run with runs being 8 mins and walks 2 mins x 5. Running 4 times this week as should be running 5k by the end of next week with no walking
Dog Walk -Dog has had lots of walks
Yoga/stretch - no progress on this one

    Post 3 gratitudes every day
    1. DH being well enough to go back to work this week
    2. Line of duty - just watched series one
    3. My new cleaner
    4. DH thanking me for looking after him

    No! - not eaten any

Think of others - Looking after DH last week

    NSD - 5/16 approx
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

    Afternoon All

It was a beautiful morning so I've changed all the bedding and washed it together with towels etc and it's all now dried having been hung outside. Did the Boy's ironing (it's not that much really and it helps him out a bit). XSpender - I was interested in what you think about getting a cleaner. Not for me but it might be beneficial for him just to get someone in to do a bit of hoovering, dusting and general cleaning. He can easily afford it and it would make things a bit easier for him time wise.

Had my hair done today. It is my one big extravagance but it really does make me feel better about myself. Every six weeks at a local hairdresser and I get a discount on a Tuesday. (Four year old who lives next door says she will do it for free when she grows up!). My skin is looking quite good. I unearthed some very expensive stuff that I bought yonks ago when I didn't think about money and I've been using that. Actually, I think it's just using something regularly that makes the difference and not the cost of the product.

So yes, thank you, Apple. I am feeling a bit more upbeat now.

Today I'm just grateful for all the good things in my life. A lot of people are not so lucky.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Hugs to those in need of them.
apple - In the Sherlock Holmes book I owe, have the illustrations from the Strand.
    NSD today - 17/20.
    Grateful for:
Temp work for a few hours.
Finally booked someone for Saturday to do a small job in the flat. Kept putting this off for a while. This is the final bit of work that needs to be done in the flat.
Nice walk as it was sunny.
Perry Mason with the actor who plays the private investigator, who I like.
Telling the lady who runs the grief programme that I will no longer be involved in the group. I have to move on in my own way and time.

XSpender - good to hear from you. Sorry that dh has been poorly. I think you should remove the yoga from your list for the month. And get necking that h20!

Today I am grateful for my workout, for my counsellor, for good bus connections, for getting on with marking, for sunshine to dry the washing, for swimming with dd, for my goggles not getting all steamed up and leaky for once, for a good book, for 85% choc.

Court was disappointing. Cost over £1600 just to be adjourned for 6 more weeks pending the outcome of trying to contact ex. Ah well. I'm trying to be as upbeat as I can but it's tough to try and sort stuff out when ex continues to ignore everything. Also lost my nsd paying for the car park at court.
    However, I have some gratitudes:
My solicitor turned out to be funny and a nice guy as we had a lot of time to kill waiting for the judge.
It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon out of work in a beautiful city (even going to court)
I'm up to date for today with exam stuff.
