Today Himself and I had a walk the long way through the park to the Health Centre to order my repeat prescription. I tried to book an appointment for my annual blood pressure check. They can't give me one for three weeks by which time I'll be on holiday and they don't give them more than four weeks in advance so I'll have to organise it when I get back. No doubt it will then be another three weeks which means I'll be about two month's behind and I'll have received numerous letters asking why I haven't made an appointment. Oh well.

The Boy's washing is all done and drying, I've frozen the remainder of yesterday's curry (got three more big portions), made a bolognese and done some household cleaning type things.

It's been a little spendy. Some toiletries needed for holiday (much cheaper than buying them from Tesco or whilst we're there). I've ordered some books for Himself's birthday. Not until the beginning of July but I need to get organised now. He's mentioned a few recently that he read years ago but would like to re-read. They are out of print now but I've managed to find them on second hand bookshops and he won't mind that they are not new. Just need to raid Aldi and Lidl for chocolate now when he's not looking. He's quite a simple soul really.

Using up pork chops (cooked in cider) and veg for dinner tonight. We're going to have a real go at using up things for the next couple of weeks.

Had a really nice day actually.

    Lots of things to be grateful for;

    Feeling so much happier
    Looking forward to my holiday
The Boy having had such a good time (he came for Dinner with lots of photographs. Hinting that he might like to come to Amsterdam next January for a few days whilst we're there and we could show him about)
The wee one's giggling because they think they are playing tricks on us (knocking the door and running away. Like two doors way where we can see them)
Himself buying two half price tarte au citron - my most favourite desert in all the world.

    Hope everyone is well.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Hi turtles. I've called in sick today with a migraine. Although it is subsiding now It makes me so nervous because we are freelance so don't get paid for sick days and I'll try to make up the time on Friday but not sure if I'll be able to. Also being a Monday it looks bad.

I'm not sure what triggered it but it's a bit of a wake up call maybe not to go so crazy at the weekends and start to look after myself a bit more.

It has struck me again that I really have no friends in this country and I need to change that if I'm going to stay here. At the same time I know I'm doing the right thing living here. I am grateful to have had this opportunity, just need to make it a viable long term thing.

Sorry for the moan, I hope everyone is ok

Glad you are feeling a bit better. I've suffered from migraines since I was 5, don't get many now but boy they do knock you for six.

Busy day today getting lots of jobs done as I am working an extra day tomorrow. Not the best day as DD is having problems at school with her 'friends', being a teenage girl is so hard. Her D of E practice is this week but she is absolutely dreading it and making herself ill with everything that is going on so I have let her pull out and we will just have to write the money off.

    Hello :hello:
Apologies for disappearing off the face of the Earth last week... I had the best of intentions but even if I say that I had the week from hell then that would be a bit of an understatement.
In short, work stress, lack of sleep, exam marking, no money, and finding out my ex is in a psychiatric hospital miles away from here... There was one point I was lying on my sofa after work, completely and utterly exhausted but totally unable to fall asleep.
Anyway, it's over now - things are on the up again, but I am now into exam season so very short of time, so don't be surprised if I get even more sporadic than this. It has been a nice break for me though, reading through the posts and catching up with what people have been up to over the week.
I'm very low on money now this month- May has turned out to be another costly one for various reasons and it's half term next week and I have no spare money.
And I am in court tomorrow for divorce related stuff, which is stressing me out a bit. Hopefully though it'll be another small step in the right direction...
    Today I'm grateful for:
    Fantastic work colleagues
My sister's boyfriend doing me a new tattoo at mates rates
Having a house full of food even though I have no money

Shrewbie - making friends in a foreign land is hard work. Good luck with it.

Dolly - hugs to dd, and I think that pulling her out of the Dof E is the right thing to do.

Kerry Woman - we have that book! It's great!

Toni'sfriend - it's good to hear you much more upbeat.

Speky - enjoy the treasures you find in your freezer audit.

Ccl - sending you lots and lots of hugs.

Today I am grateful for having 2 robins in the garden, for getting niggly jobs done at work, for being proven right about something I'd been told I hadn't done (someone else's not-doing-it-right was the problrm), for getting a fair amount of marking done, for a good book, for a mini workout, for my family who always love me.

Filled the washer, filled the dishwasher (mostly a small metal dish rack and 2 wire trays) + a few odds and ends, ate from the freezer, went to mum's, arranged a day out, a weekend break and mum's audiology appointment (had to leave messages and wait for them to get back to me), decanted a pile of scraps from old notebooks into the new book, put some soil onto one of the raised beds I made for mum last year, put two cards in the post box for mum and I'm half way through my new book (last of the old lot but picked up a few more from the library today including some brand new ones - apparently it's crime fiction month so there were lots on display).

Staying home tomorrow (going to mum's on Wednesday instead) as I had a phone call and the men are coming to fit my handles around the bath - not a definite time but probably early afternoon. Diary and calendar are both up to date.

Looked up the venue for my diabetic eye screening (it's 8 miles from home) and they had a 'review' section and scored 2 out of 6. The 2 people using the dental service were quite happy, people using various screening services gave them a score of 1 and several were making official complaints - one poor lady had booked a smear test, three members of staff held a lengthy conversation at reception in front of her. When one of them finally turned to her, they ordered her rather brusquely to go and sit at the far end of the corridor. When her name was called she was told to go to room 9 (another patient helped her to find it) and then the woman she saw (one of the chatterbox staff) said that she was an ANP and the 'ordinary nurses' did smear tests, not her.

Today I am grateful for moving forward, ticking things off my list and feeling organised.
