Toni'sfriend - it's so good to hear what The Boy is up to, as he goes adventurising. Glad that Himself has recognised your need to be out and doing things.
Kerry Woman - were you by any chance watching 'Columbo Sunda'?
Today I am grateful for my workout, for headspace, for taking dd to meet a new friend and go trampolining (the girls, not the mums), for being able to help some people, for finishing the knitting part of the second penguin sock, for dh putting 2 loads through the wash machine, for enjoying my last weekend of peace and sitting around before the marking starts.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Making slow progress. Not a lot but went to the kitchen frequently and did a bit each time. Two loads of washing done, DS3 finally emptied the dishwasher (3rd time of asking), so reloaded it and set it off. Gathered several small bags of rubbish - picked up torn take away bags and went round stuffing them with useless bits hanging around.
Had also complained/ explained to DS3 about the pizza box situation (2 on the front room floor,2 on the stove, 1 on the floor by the back door and didn't check whether the 2 that had been dumped on the kitchen table earlier in the week were still there) and next time I went in the kitchen there was one pile of squashed boxes, not on the floor so could easily take it out and add to the bin.
Tried to give him explanations eg because he hadn't emptied the dishwasher (he has decided that emptying is his job), dirty pans and crocks were piled in the sink/ surround and table, I couldn't clean any of the worktop because too many things were piled up on top. Also told him I was trying to clean but seem to be going in an endless circle of removing things that have been dumped. Also told Beloved to see if she could go through the emptying/ reloading stuff (she had also been waiting for him to take the clean stuff out so she could reload).
Hoping it's getting through to him. Did not shout or sigh, kept calm and did not get myself worked up.
Did a freezer and fridge audit and have more things to work with than I thought. May need to buy some more healthy alternatives but will not starve (I have an egg mountain, a fish pool and broccoli and cauli mountains too) so can postpone the Icyland order (have a $5 off voucher) for now.
Read a book by a new to me author recommended by one of mum's cousins and it was gripping, fun and have read all 590 pages in under 2 days. Prolific author so lots more at the library.
Didn't do everything I would have liked to at mum's but am much more in control - some of mum's filed and some discarded, I have 3 bags left. One is my stuff that is non-urgent (most just needs putting back into my file box but need to keep things like the days out and events leaflets handy - I end up missing exhibitions I was interested in). One is stuff I have to do plus a bit that I still haven't gone through. The third is also to do but it's scraps of paper with addresses/ websites etc pulled from the backs of old diaries and notebooks before throwing the rest away.
Have found the new 'address book' (wanted something alphabetical) and best of all my purse - must have dropped them into one of the bags I took to mum's a couple of weeks ago (and brought back untouched).
So slow, not perfect but forward is forward. I have enough Food with quite a few easy options, my Clothes are clean (and bedding too) and I all the bits of paperwork I need to make phone calls about on Monday are together. I have booked a Twixmas break for mum and i and a five day Yorkshire Dales visit at the end of August including a day in Whitby (which mum will like as she loves old sailing ships and I believe we can manage because I tried out the 'tour bus' when I went to the Goth weekend last year - you pay once for all day and can get on and off at various stops including the Abbey without tackling the 199 steps) and trips on a steam railway and a river cruise.
On Monday I will book the tickets for the Hot Ice Show and another break in October - Lake district again but different places including Bowness (more boats). Different tour company who don't let you book on-line. Also need to try booking mum's audiology appointment. Then make sure everything is in the diary/ on the calendar.
Today I am grateful for the weather, good but not oppressive, for DS3 emptying the dishwasher without having a paddy and for relaxing and reading. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Kerry - we've got to the point where we've seen the Columbo ones soooo often that we know the storyline after just a few seconds! Dh isn't a !!!! van dyk3 fan - tho he is tolerated in Mary Poppins - so we don't tend to diagnose murders over here.
If dh has the remote. It'll likely be sci-fi or something to do with planes. I like to think I'm a little more eclectic in my viewing :rotfl:...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Enjoy - defrosted Beef Borg for lunch with DD1 and made raspberry bakewell cake for pud - yummy. Lovely to have DD2 home for a couple of nights
Read - had a lie in and read for half an hour - blissful

May your coffee be strong and your Monday be short.
This is yourMonday morning reminder that you are amazing and that you can do anything.
Go grab your Monday, turtlesNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Morning turtles,
Managed Friday and Sunday as NSD's. Taking me up to 8 for the month, which I'm happy with given that I was away for 7 days!
Mothernerd - You've inspired me to do a freezer audit!0 -
Hi turtles. I've called in sick today with a migraine. Although it is subsiding now It makes me so nervous because we are freelance so don't get paid for sick days and I'll try to make up the time on Friday but not sure if I'll be able to. Also being a Monday it looks bad.
I'm not sure what triggered it but it's a bit of a wake up call maybe not to go so crazy at the weekends and start to look after myself a bit more.
It has struck me again that I really have no friends in this country and I need to change that if I'm going to stay here. At the same time I know I'm doing the right thing living here. I am grateful to have had this opportunity, just need to make it a viable long term thing.
Sorry for the moan, I hope everyone is okStudent loan £5655
