I’ve redone the house insurance and cancelled the renewal on the old. Got a comparable policy £11 less than my renewal and fingers crossed the TCB will track ok, so in about 6 months hoping to get an extra £25 in my account. Did a financial plan last night to take me up to the year end. Going to stash a bit in savings and a bit on mortgage overpayment to the end of the year as it looks like I’ll beat my target for overpaying. Will then review in the new year but thinking next year to concentrate on op as fixed rate ends November 2020 so the less capital remaining the better LTV and hopefully better rate.
My day off is disappearing fast as usual and I need to get some planting done around the pond. Completed my frog hibernation spot, I think it looks very tempting, hopefully the frogs will :rotfl:SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)1 -
Woken up with a sore throat so that means I’m stressed; it’s my weak point and always the first thing to go! Just done a brain dump and one side of A4 already full which is probably why my throat is playing up. Still the weather is forecast to be lovely today so the last 3 plants will go round the pond and then that project is finished and I can sit and watch with the satisfaction that I did that
. Currently sat in the garden with a coffee trying to get 10 minutes quiet (failing). Looking vey pretty with dew on some magnificent spiders webs, oooh they are a talented creature. Waiting for my robins to make an appearance on the new fat balls. Life is (mainly) good at the moment despite the to do list :rotfl:

Pond completed! Grow my darlings grow:T. Given myself a “good talking to” about finances as I’m a little concerned regarding the low amount in the bills account. MOT due end of October and I expect it to fail. However I have to remind myself that’s what the emergency fund is for......Finances are OK I just don’t want to spend any of my hard saved cash.
Managed to get rid of a few bits off my to do list which is satisfying. Hoping my son will let me get through a few more today, including his homework and reading practice. Going to book some leave from work, just odd days but I’m going to do what I very rarely do and book days just for me and still send my son to breakfast/after school club. I’ve also decided to book my birthday off but send him to holiday club as it falls in the October half term; I think the break and something to look forward to will do me good. Don’t get me wrong I love him to bits but sometimes I also love a bit of peace and quietSPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)1 -
Yesterday was definately a day of two halves. Had an argument with my (uncooperative) boy in the morning and felt totally overwhelmed by the state of the house and the long list of things that need doing. Had a bit of a think and found some advice on the internet saying when you feel overwhelmed by a messy house to concentrate on laundry and food and leave everything else. It worked as I did all the ironing, changed and washed the bedding and changed the towels. I also felt inspired to clean the bathroom and sorted out my son’s drawers putting all the too small and summer stuff to one side and then also tidied three drawers in my room. Do feel a bit lighter and means my boy are going to tackle his room today between us :rotfl: (so that will be me then).
While I was ironing I listened to a podcast by Phillippa Perry about relationships with your child; I have her book but it’s still unread like lots of othersIt made a lot of sense and as a result when I picked up my boy I apologised for my behaviour and told him it was because I was upset at all the mess not him. I got a lovely hug and we had quite a calm rest of day. Maybe I should crack on and read that book.
The cherry on the top of the cake was, I applied for a job on Monday thinking I didn’t have a hope in heck of getting shortlisted; I’ve got a telephone interview on Friday morning  best get googling and answer prepping. It’s completely different to the job I do now but the advert said you didn’t need insurance experience and when I spoke to the lady on Friday to arrange the interview she said I had the skills set they were looking for. The ad said their were several opportunities and I think this is the first round and if successful there will be an assessment centre. It’s only 5 more hours a week than I do now and it’s nearer home......however I have been here several times already this year,,,.........SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)1 -
Payday :T. Done my online banking and now emergency fund is at £1,000. I’ve just bought a £25 premium bond and overpaid the mortgage by £38.16 which now stands at £59,880. When the DD goes out on the 10th that might drop to 59,500 so anything I can overpay in October which might not be too much will get me closer to my end of year target. I’d love to start 1st January 2020 at 58,000 but it might be 58,500 with a more comfortable savings balance behind me.

I’ve won £25 on the premium bonds
. That gets automatically reinvested so bumps up the big savings pot a bit :T

Had a telephone interview this morning; more hours and less money
. However might still be worth considering if I move to the next stage as nearer, only 5 more hours a week than my part time role, better pension, training, team of people doing the same role, might be able to flex start/end times so could drop breakfast club so overall childcare costs wouldn’t go up and as it’s a lower wage I’d get more tax credits. Things to think about.
Got 2 more to apply for over the weekend.
