On the site I was looking at they sell blocks of the wax mix they use and apparently you grate it over and then do something involving an iron, teatowels and greaseproof paper so you can make them last up to 2 years. Just wondering whether I could trust my boy to bring the waxed cloth home in his packed lunch though or whether it would end up in the bin! Maybe reserve it for my sandwiches and still use the empty bread bags for his.

Bizarrely I got an annual mortgage statement from my bank yesterday. It seems a strange date as I completed on the property in November so I'd always assumed that was my statement date. Anyway rather depressingly despite my best efforts I have still paid nearly £500 more in interest for the year then I've actually overpaid. Target for next year is to overpay more than the interest charged.

Have chased up about that interview I had on the 9th but no response so hoping that means they are close to making a decision. I've also literally just received an interview invite for Monday and I am on holiday that day anyway. Its one of the two jobs I applied for on Monday and is only about 2 miles from where I live. Just need to sort out a babysitter now.......

Hi Jessy, good to hear from you. Hope all is well in your new home :). Today is payday yaaaaaaay but will not be a NSD! Have to buy school shoes but mr marks and his pal don’t have a huge amount in his store so will measure the child’s feet then order on line (via TCB) for delivery to store and collect over the weekend. Just need to shorten his new trousers and then we will be good to go for the return on Wednesday. I’ve arranged someone to have my son on Monday morning as obviously Monday is the only day holiday club is closed  I have to say this is the first interview I feel like I really want so trying not to get my hopes up. It’s back to full time and the money is the same as I get now on 30 hours but I’ve worked through the budgets and I would be slightly better off. It’s nearer home so will save on fuel, free parking so that’s £10 a month and as it’s a 9am start I think I can drop breakfast club by dropping him off at 8:45 when school opens and still be at work for 9; that alone would save me £17 a week.

My freezer is looking a bit empty at the moment so as I’m off now until Wednesday I might get a bit of batch cooking done. I’ve a sad looking cauliflower which is going to become soup later on today but otherwise fridge is pretty empty which is how I like it when it’s shopping day. Have to stock up on staples for the cupboard so lots of tins buying which will make the larder cupboard look better :rotfl: although I will still have to create something with them.

Got slightly more in my pay this month as we got a %age increase applied in August. Have to decide which pot that goes in now. Two more trips out planned and then back to normal so hoping pots will remain fuller for longer this month although Beavers payment is now due and I’ve still got to sort out guitar lessons and a guitar.

Was very MSE with the small pay rise and bought a small premium bond :). Made a mandarin and poppy seed loaf last night that we will have toasted for breakfast and also a bean chilli for the freezer. Will make a peach and chickpea curry today also for the freezer, a courgette cake and though I might make some fish cakes. Never made these before but don’t look that taxing! Shoes ordered for collection today and pin put in trousers so I can get on with those. Will order some beeswax wraps over the weekend and see how they go and also considering buying some shallow plastic (sorry planet!) containers for more efficient freezer storage. My freezer is small, just a couple of shelves above the fridge but that means I empty it more regularly and it runs more efficiently as it’s normally full. I could do with something that stacks better in a small space. Child is driving me up the wall with stinky attitude but according to other parents they are all the same! Six and a half weeks is about four weeks too long :rotfl: Roll on Wednesday when we can start getting back into a normal routine..........

Hope interview goes well. If you did manage to drop the breakfast club you may also find your child is less tired. Helped for us when ours were at that stage.
