Done much thinking and decided if they put me through to next round I will decline. The benefits don’t out weigh the financial losses from my current salary level. Anyway my current workplace have just advertised for 9 roles in admissions which was my job (which I loved) before I relocated. As would be going back full time would be a wage increase to my current one. Great believer in fate so maybe this is why it’s held me back until now.....

Did some Christmas stuff yesterday. Booked panto tickets and ordered an advent calendar, one without chocolate. I decided last year to knock chocolate ones on the head, too many arguments about opening all the doors and taking the chocolate etc. Trying to find a nice none choc one in the local shops is not easy. I’ve ordered a 3 D one of highgrove house and a contribution goes to the princes trust so feeling altruistic as well. December weekends are now booked up, October is virtually full so trying to arrange family and friends visits for November; can’t believe we are so close already. No idea what to get my son. Last year we did presents just for children and it saved me a lot of money so we are doing the same again. My youngest niece is 30 in December so mustn’t forget to factor that present in too :D

Mortgage payment today and it dropped to £59,499.51. Got under that 500 mark, yeah. My daily interest fell from £4.44 per day to £4.42 so I’ve worked out how much I need to overpay this month to get under the £59 K mark with the next payment. This is rather addictive; I never thought I’d look forward to paying the mortgage :D

Made a start on the Christmas shopping today thanks to the second hand shops. I got 2 games for my son, Santa likes to give him games, and they look like they have never been played with. At £4 each worth it. I also got Pencaster Station for my great nephew. It’s postman pat stuff by the way. We have a no longer played with Greendale Rocket, that’s the train so that will package up for him; grand total £5. I also bought 2 “new” skirts for work. A grey pencil skirt, never worn! And a White Stuff needlecord one, total of £10.50 for the two :D

Had a productive day as sent back a parcel for a refund, made soup for tomorrow lunch, a carrot cake and also have a lasagna in the oven for tea. Planning on visiting apple week at our local National Trust property tomorrow as the weather looks ok, looking forward to that.

  • Hey, just being reading your thread, well done, impressive focus from you in clearing your mortgage! I'm, numbers wise, similar to where you are at, £55k left to pay with 5 years and 4 months left to pay. Im not as frugal as you and have had to focus on paying down credit cards etc the last month or so. Im hoping I can make an overpayment in 2020. Ideally I wools like it to be cleared in 3 years but that will be tight. Anyway good luck with your journey, I hope you achieve the Easter 2025. For what it's worth, I have managed to reduce my term by 8 years so far by upping my payment and reducing the term, however my salary was a lot higher then, I'm so glad I did it!

We have a really good charity shop locally, it’s a cats protection one. I donate as well as buy :). My best bargain was a Hobbs skirt for work which cost me £10! I worn it till it virtually fell apart. Christmas “thoughts” are well underway so lots of decisions made regarding potential presents. I did consider a kids tablet for my son, you can get an amazon fire tablet for £50 but I still think he might be a bit young at 6.5. He’s still asking Santa for an electric guitar so I’ll have to find a way to swerve that one :D

Have just cashed out some Prolific money so will send that to the mortgage when it arrives. I’ve got an interview on Monday, still waiting to hear about the jobs I applied for at my current work place. Going to do a pros and cons list and calculate childcare and tax credits amounts etc. If the jobs at work hadn’t come up I’d be over the moon about Mondays interview so I also have to bear that in mind. The interviewers on Monday may make the decision for me but it’s best to be prepared :rotfl: got a massive list of jobs to do today as usual so best get on!

My car passed its MOT :j so that was £30 instead of the £300 I’d been imagining! Tooth fairy came last night so a two pound coin under the pillow; it was a front top tooth so higher value :D. I ended up declining the interview I had arranged for Monday. I re read the job description and it just wasn’t for me. I’ve got an interview where I work in a couple of weeks so everything crossed. It’s my birthday next week so now the car doesn’t need work I might get some new boots. The ones I have are about 10 years old and they leak so I think it’s time to treat myself. Half term next week so will have to get extra pack up stuff so send him to holiday club with a packed lunch, hoping I will still come in under budget as some freezer stuff still to go at. My son had a school disco on Tuesday and has a party at Beavers tomorrow and then a sleep over on Friday night, honestly his social life is way better than mine but that’s not saying much!!! :rotfl:
