Post Office it is then. Thanks guys :)

And one more silly question - do I just ask for a proof of posting certificate or is that the wrong term for what I need?

Yep - get yourself a pad of them from the PO (P326 PAD)- my PO tells me they are phasing them out - and you can write it on the receipt - but if you got a few it is quicker to do it all at home and then they just stamp it. If you print your postage from the PO website though they do a print out certificate you can get stamped at the PO save you writing but it don't half waste paper!

Many thanks for that - typical newbie, just being stupid.

Don't feel you are being 'stupid' we all have questions and this is a good place to ask them. Just wondered if you saw the 'pending' bit in your Amazon payments account next to the date? I think its a bit confusing cos thats not to do with pending orders but just means its the date that amazon will automatically transfer any money to your bank account.

I THINK that you have to wait 2 weeks extra for the first payment if you are new to them in case any scams come to light but then it will happen on a regular basis every 2 weeks and takes a further 5-10 days to reach your account. You can also transfer money yourself after the initial one if you don't want to wait 2 weeks [once every 24 hours I believe].

As was mentioned earlier actual pending sales will show if you search transactions in your seller account and Amazon will also send you an email saying it is pending.

Hope this all makes sense - come back with any other questions, there's usually some helpful folk about ;)

Today, I took a large book to the PO. I asked for 2nd class UK and put the package on the scales. The assistant told me that it couldn't go 2nd so I had to pay £6.50 for 1st class. Is that right?.. is there a size/weight limit for 1st class?

    thanks

Yes that is right. 2nd class packet only goes up to 1000g, 1001+ has to go first class or parcel. If you paid £6.50 first class then you could have sent it by Parcel and it would have only cost £5.68.

Thanks for that, teapot. I hadn't realized the pending was referring to my Amazon payments account. I ended up ringing them, and the guy was incredibly helpful. So unlike ebay! But this forum is an amazing place - still stumbling around it. :rotfl:

Went down to 2 feedback for the last 30 days when more dropped off the end but 2 folk left feedback today - luckily its still at 100% as they were both positive - phew.

Not had any orders last 2 days after a really busy week [for me] but I see from the Amazon sellers connection [when they are not hammering each other], there are a few threads about lack of sales and Amazon tinkering with the site. Its sooooooo much friendlier on here :D, sometimes I feel a bit battered after I've looked at the forum over there and I'm not even involved in it

    Love and peace Teapot ;)

That sort of behaviour occurs on most large unmoderated forums, it's best to keep your head down over there when the stuff starts flying. There was some talk about getting the amazon boards moderated, I wonder if Soolin would like the job? ;)

 I rarely post over there and when I do I worry for ages afterwards that I will get attacked for something minor. You need a suit of armour to venture out there.

I prefer to muddle through on my own or ask questions here. Sometimes though it is a real shame especially when I get a really unusual book that I am not sure about and I just know some of the more established sellers would be able to help me.

..... One buyer bought 2 books. Bit worried that they'll be sniffy re the postage so am going to put in an extra book from a similar series and hope that helps..... Teapot

My 30 day feedback has gone up to 5 again. I did put an extra book in for the above buyer and she left a 5/5 today - phew was worried I might get bad feedback over the double postage charge as they were just thin paperbacks.

Sales have dried up again - absolutely nothing for the last four days... Ah well another week begins
