Sorry you've been left high and dry. Salvage what you can and move on. No point worrying over things we can't change. Maybe a PAYT would suit your dad if he uses it that little. The phone will (I expect) at least be unlocked so he should be able to use any network sim in it once the contract expires. You may also be able to downgrade to a lower tariff once you've passed 9 months; if you could do that AND get half price on the new tariff that would reduce the loss a little more. Good luck with it.0

Exactly, better to take out a new contract and get Quidco etc.
Maybe it's only for "valued customers"
Lynsey
called up 3 for redemption offer.
first deal was £25 a month with a K770i, 500 odd mins and 100 odd texts.
then second deal was £15 a month with a nokia phone, 250 odd mins and 50 odd texts.
both 18 month deals, but thing is new line rental would kick in at my next billing cycle (23 dec). at the present i'm paying £45 a month.
they told me at present they are not offering mix and match for redemption offers, but he said he would see what he can do....."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

Has anyone recieved a text message from vodaphone saying that they are a valuable customer and are entitled to a limted time offer and will be getting a phone call in the next day or so about it?
I am one of the customers that was affected by phonebox direct and i have rung up quite a few times and they have said they will ring me back, but instead i got this txt
When I said I didn't want to give these details out to a number I didn't recognise as a vodafone number they hung up very fast. It didn't stop there. I rang 191 and real vodafone people had no idea what I was talking about. The real vodafone said I was not elagable for any offers or upgrades as I was not even 1/2 way through my contract at the time.
It went quiet for a few days and then I got more of the phone calls trying to offer me fantastic deal but they wouldnt tell me what they were unless I gave out my personal details. so this time I said why are you not asking me my special security passwords? The person who was supposedly called richard said that they were from a different department and didn't have access to that info. So I told him I didn't belive him. He hung up.
When I was in town I went into the vodafone shop and told them about it and showed them the numbers and they said it was nothing to do with vodafone it is getting more common for this to happen and 2 of the staff in the shop have had this happen to them as well.
I have wiped the numbers off my phone so I cant shair those sorry
but then I had a text about a free phone.I will search the boards for my post about it and add it to this. But hat is deffinatly a scam as I googled the number and found message boar with loads off people reporting it and then a website that was under construction but you could access the t+c which looked like a chequeback site. people had been getting these texts in 2006 then it stopped and it seems to have started again.
Sorry if it seems like a ramble but I hope it helps.

I'm with Vodafone, got offered the 1/2 price rental last month.
Vodafone just debited the full amount today, £35.
Wasn't the deal supposed to take effect immeadiately ?0 -
The deal may take effect immediately, but isn't the payment you've been debited in respect of a previous bill they have sent you?0
-
I thought mobiles contracts were always paid in advance ?0
-
Not in advance of a bill. You get the bill first before they take the money out of your bank.0

I got offered my discount deal with Vodafone on 20th November, I had already received a bill which was due for payment on about 30th November. As expected, that went through as per the bill. The discount takes effect from the December bill which is due out on about 16th December.
You won't get discount on a bill they have already sent you.0 -
3 are not really offering anything, mine is finishing early Jan and they said best they can do is £15 mix and match deal with new phone for 18 months. I said that's crap that is on your website for any customer who wants it. They said they can't get below £15. So i'm going to cancel and get virgin £10 a month deal0
