I cancelled my 3 contact a few days ago, ends 22/01/08. They never offered any help and none was asked for.
They did go on and on about how I never took out the contract with them and that it was through a dealer, despite me telling them I knew all this and it was nothing to do with them. They did try to distance themselves from CNM, and then tried to offer me a few deals as a "valued customer" , which I declined.
So, just waiting to see if I get offered one of those £5 deals in about 5 weeks time, or I will weigh up the deals available at the time.

    My contract ends 22/02/2007 Lynsey.

Hopefully they will consider me a "valued customer" and offer me some deals. Suspect i will be declining as well. As it is a foreign call centre I will obviously have to make myself clear when declining. Very, very clear............:A

    cheers for the info.

my contract ends 28 Jan. They said I need to call up around 23 December to see what they can offer me. I guess I'll try to call up again today and see what they say.

I actually want / need to stay with three, so if i get a decent offer that will be great.

btw were they offering you line rental discount or a new phone or something?

    I was offered as a "valued customer" a £15 per month deal for an 18 month contract which consisted of;

    New mobile
    250 mins. per month
    50 texts

I kept telling them I didn't want a new mobile and they kept asking what one I wanted  , so there may be a little bargaining there I suppose.

    Best of luck.

  • Just be careful with Three and their retention deals, as they upgrade direct and change tariff 3 months early, but this is added to a new 18 month contract, so your new term from time of upgrade is actually 21 months.

Just wanted to make you aware.

that's really no discount at all. its their standard mix and match 300 package.

Exactly, better to take out a new contract and get Quidco etc.

Maybe it's only for "valued customers" :D

  • Anyone got any up to date news on Phones2udirect?. I'm due to send off my first claim when I get my next bill, probably this week. Think I'll send it Special Delivery with it being Christmas. Anything else I should watch?
  • I just found out today that PBD has gone bust. I took out 2 contracts through PBD on Vodafone. I've been paying GBP70 a month for the past 9 months approx, received emails from PBD telling me that my claims had been successful, called them several times chasing them and asking why i hadn't received any cashback - was told they had just installed a new system and they were having teething problems and to wait a little longer. Haven't received any money back.....definately won't get any back now.

I'm hoping to get the GBP5 / mth with vodafone since i haven't received any cashback. One of my contracts is up in March and the other in May.

Anyone had any luck getting the GBP5/mth recently?
Anyone know of any other way to try to get some of the GBP840 paid out?

    Thanks

I'm afraid it's most unlikely Vodafone will reduce it now beyond half price, although someone did post a few days ago on a Hotdeal thread that they had in fact got the £5 deal, so you can only try. You could stake a claim with the administrators but it's (again) most unlikely you'll get anything back. One small lesson; don't wait longer than the due date before sending a LBA and then (if necessary) suing. Had you done that you would have almost certainly been paid the cashbacks due before they went bust. Should you ever take out a cashback deal again make sure you don't hesitate before taking action to get money due to you. A hard lesson I'm afraid. I would ask Vodafone to get their special team to call you back without delay; half price for the remainder is better than nothing and at least they are helping.
  • Dear Mobilejunkie,

Thanks for the reply. I have learned my lesson, i won't be taking out any cashback deals again in fear of not getting the money back.

My dad doesn't even use the phone, so a major waste of money. Lucky if he makes 10 calls a month. He also keeps forgetting how to text.

It would have been fine if we used both phones enough to cover the tarrif, but we don't.

    Thanks for the advice though!!!
