I had never lost out before and always spread the risks (no more than 1 phone per company, 12 month max contracts etc) but now I have lost 1150 quid as although my cnm / pbd contracts did not overlap slow payment meant I did not get the last two payments of one contract nor any of the second and now phones2udirect are disappearing in the same week - and to think I steered clear of the mobile outlet cos they looked too risky!
I think the way forward may be to either stick to the less good deals from cpw group / phones 4u or go for expensive handsets to be sold instead of max cashback, with the additional advantage that if a T&C change allows early contract cancellation you have already made your money back.I think....0 -
Has anyone else been tied to a new 12month contract by Vodafone without agreeing to it and if so what have they done about it?
Im waiting for a callback from the specialist team to see whats going on.0 -
i found this podcast yesterday, which incudes analysis interview (post administration) with Paul Smith who was a management consultant for mobile media systems (formerly worked for the cauldwell group).
It's quite interesting, although he effectively blames the collapse on other casback schemes which folded earlier this year, which orompted more people to followw the rules when claiming (!).
It just sounds yet more like a hooky pyramid selling scheme to me - where unsustainable headline deals were offered, rather than a reasonable / fair share of the commission (perhaps consumers wouldn't go for it when other schemes purport to offer a more enticing deal?.
anyway decide for yourself, link here: http://www.thefonecast.com/Default.aspx?item=97
nb. the podcast also has an almost laughable review of the forthcoming sony ericsson W960 - which appears to have been done from a spec sheet, rather than from using a real handset!.0 -
So from what Paul Smith say's it is down to retail shops offering cashback deals and as they were getting a high level of redemption and then going bust.
This caused awareness of cashbacks which made his companies redemption levels go up and due to the bad publicity of other retailers his compan went into admistration.
Translation: If these companies had not have gone bust, we could have got away with making every excuse under the sun to not paying people back what we offered and us having a very nice lifestyle.0 -
Only if enough people let them get away with it. The fact so many didn't is what probably caused their downfall!0

When I heard about CNM, I tried to change my tariff online - not expecting to be able to do it, as I am under contract till next May. At the end of choosing a Anytime 75 (£20 a month), it said my request could not be carried out and told me to phone.
A few days later I logged on again to see my tariff listed as Anytime 75.
Tonight I have had a call back from Vodafone about CNM. They have offered me half-price £10 a month Anytime 75 for the remainder of my contract. On my original tariff I could have had the half-price £17.50 for 500 minutes deal - but I don't use anything like that number of minutes, so I'm happy. I think Vodafone have been very accommodating - they didn't have to offer anything.0 -

My contract started 11 May. I e-mailed them & received a reply stating that someone would contact me, still waiting!
Is there a way to email vodafone/contact them online about getting the half price offer?
I have called them and having been waiting nearly a week for them to call me.

I am 10 months into my contract and they have just agreed to downgrade me to Flext 25 from £35 per month standard contract. They are applying a £15 per month discount so this will cost me £10 per month and I can cancel with one month notice. The man I spoke to told me that they are offering large discounts to all customers nearing the end of their contracts as they have new deals coming out in the new year and they want us to stop with them.
Got two of my cashback cheques and the third was overdue when I sent LBA. Glad I didnt pay for MCOL claim as well!
How'd you manage that? Despite several emails T-mobile are sticking to their guns and wont budge on Flext25 for £25 a month.0 -

Think the cheapest is £20 a month but then you hardly get any texts or minutes and I actually use mine so not worth the deal. My contract's up in May, think I'll accept the £5 reduction and be done with it!
Also, they'll make you pay the full tariff price (so it could be £25) rather than the fiver off discounted price on the website.0 -
