  • This is now my 3rd cashback deal, and the 1st one to fail.

I wouldn't say I'm trying to scam anyone, I was simply trying to be a savvy consumer. There is no way I could afford a contract without cashback offers.

Vodafone have been incredibly generous in offering me a 1/2 price line rental and I have been massively impressed by their customer service throughout. (Speaking to people who comprehend English gives them a massive head start IMHO!). It probably makes good business sense in the long term for Vodafone to keep these customers, as many (like me) will probably revert back to PAYG without the opportunity of cashback deals or very cheap rentals.

I agree that people who are moaning about not getting £5 line rentals from Vodafone are morons. The sort of people who probably believe the state owes them a living too!
  • Neillgb: that's ok. However, I do have principles too - and mine dictate that I took a calculated risk and it didn't pan out and if I blame anyone for that it's myself.

That is too harsh on members here.

Thanks to certain folk who posted here every moneysaver who comes here knows about the £5 deal which Voda will offer if "pushed".

This site is for moneysavers, and it is completely in line with the site's objectives that MSE members should feel shortchanged when they don't get offered that deal.
  • Tried Voda again 3 times this morning ... 1st person put me on a wild goose chase and gave me Dextra 0800 number saying it's their dept, Dextra said they should stop doing that .... 2nd one conveniently cut me off ... 3rd one said customer service staff have no powers ! stuck to 9 month rule !!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr !

Thanks Shieldsy, guess that was aimed at me then. Don't think I'm a moron and definitely don't take from the state. I'd just like to receive the same standard of customer care that others on here have.

no, sorry, it doesn't help. please do not cancel your direct debits!!!!! i think that article relates to dial a mobile shredding contracts or something. don't screw up your credit by thinking the same applies to you!!
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Voda just called dh and then myself (have two phones registered to each of us)). Half-price contract offered to both of us, they state categorically that they have pulled the plug on the £5 deal though they will honour ones they have already agreed. The half-price deal is the best they can do so we have accepted.

i got a call from vodafone just now.
i was polite, and explained i had recently lost my job, but they only offered half price line rental. end date will stay the same.
i have 3 months remaining on two contracts.
    i had to accept...
  • In veiw of vodaphones unfair customer service this is the letter that Im sending them.

Any helpful input would be apreciated.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I signed up to a cash back contract with PHONEBOXDIRECT; this contract specifically involved receiving cash back from them each month after I submitted copies of my monthly line rental bills.
PHONEBOXDIRECT ceased to operate and I am left with a contract that I cannot afford as I relied on the monthly cash back to subsidies the payment of my line rental.

I therefore wish to be released from my contract with your company as the terms of my entering this agreement have been altered significantly.
As a goodwill gesture Vodaphone offered to alter my monthly payments to £17.50 per phone. This I found unacceptable as other Vodaphone customers have received a reduction to just £5.00 a month per phone.
I find no alternative than to submit 1 months notice before I terminate my direct debit mandate.
I appreciate this may well result in CCJ’s being issued against me but please be assured that this could have been avoided if I had been offered the same level of customer service that other Vodaphone customers received.
I am asking you to cancel my contract/s without any penalties as the contract was sold under unethical terms and the contract has also been breeched as I have not received any cash back owed to me.
I would therefore be obliged if you could confirm the cancellation of my contract in writing as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully
