They rang me, but the number isn't returnable.
Fingers crossed I get a call, I bought through phoneboxdirect.0 -
Hi
Just been reading all your posts. I am a customer with Mobile Connections who got bankrupt a few months ago.
I am part of another forum - priceshock.co.uk. For any wanting advise and information there are many helpful people on that site. The main people on the that are Muhammed A, Gus and Mark. Anybody want advise register on that site and contact them and they will advise you on what to do. That forum has been going for quite a while so i know what the Mobile Operators are like.
I am on vodafone and the £5 deal is being given out beacuse of the mobile connections issue. They had so many complaints so they reduced for people. when you ring Vodafone the advisors will NOT offer the £5 deal. You can only reduce to £5 when you get contacted by them.
The way you make the aware is that you ring them, request a call in regards to cashback deal issue. Make sure they register your request. You should then wait for their call. It should be 0808 number. If you miss their call they will call the next day. They usually call after 5.
For all those with Orange YOU WILL NOT be offered less than £25 a month. No matter how many times you call they will not budge. According to the customers on the PRICESHOCK. Orange is the worst.
With T-Mobile if you are £15 a month contract they will offer only £5 discount and nothing more.
3g - dont know much about them but they are not budging either.
As mentioned there is alot of useful info on priceshock website so read the posts on that site.
For all those who have been using the free international number - 07744/07755. If you have used this number give orange a call and tell them you want to cancel on the basis that they changed their Terms and Conditions. More information on the contract clause and people who have cancelled on that basis can be found on that site.
Orange will only cancel on those terms
Anybody with any questions PM me or reply here.0 -

i'm part playing devils advocate here, but why SHOULD the networks budge?? the cash back deal was nothing to do with them!!!! and with the vodafone £5 thing, there are two ways of looking at it. one they don't want to loose further custom etc and want to help out because of complaints to boost company image. but, a loyal customer, who values support and advice from a store, who loyally goes to the voda shop every year for their upgrade and then looses their job would not be given an offer of 500 mins and 250 texts for £5 a month. why should a greedy consumer who wants a free fone and free calls and line rental for a year who hasn't weighed up the risks involved and worked out if they could afford it if the rip off company went bust - like most of them do - get special treatment???
i'm not having a go at you specifically so please don't take it that way, but why EXPECT the networks to do ANYTHING that any other customer wouldn't get, regardless of where they bought their contract?
and as for the text i highlighted above, in my book that makes them the best. people get shafted by these deals ALL the time. if the networks just cave in and start treating cashback customers different to their other customers then people will see these cash back deals as a lot less of a risk and they'll continue to be taken in by them, because "if they go bust orange will sort it anyway"It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Good luck with yours.
Hey i am in the same boat as you...the lady offered me half price but i asked for lower and she then said i will ring you back, next minute i received a voice mail saying she has put me on the half price contract and also said i had accepted it...when i did not! I have contacted the customer services and they say they have left a message with the 'memo' specialist department...i am now waiting for them to call me back.0 -

Would you say that the cash back companies and network companies are not greedy then?
no, that's not what i'm saying at all.
look at it from this perspective, if you were a voda customer, not on a cashback deal paying £35 per month would you not be peed off reading this??? i don't mean to call people on here greedy specificly. but people took their own risks and are now getting a better deal than thousands upon thousands of people because they took that risk and wanted something for nothing.
cashback deals are fine for people like mobile junkie who takes the risk and accepts that it is what it is, you win some you loose some. but you log on here and all you see is cashback coplaint here, cashback thread there.
cashback deals are unfair and based on people not claiming, after all, some customers are more savvy than others, and i just HATE them because overall they're doing nothing but harm the industry.
voda are doing what they can to help, but how fair is it?? are cool new mobile, or whatever the latest to go bust customers entitled to a better deal than any other customer who chose to buy from a shop, simply because they signed a risky deal designed to fail in the first place? It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

I have to agree with you more than not, elljay20. It's not actually inconsistent from my views on Vodafone's generosity. From the other side of the fence, however, the networks are sometimes a complete pain to deal with at other times (not always) and people only see the network - not the dealer. That doesn't make it right at all, but many people (like me) who wouldn't even take out a contract without these deals would never get a phone. You could argue that if people are "normal" (I would say foolish and will probably get shot down for that by some!) to walk into a shop and sign up to an expensive deal to save the hassle and worry then that's fine. No-one on the cashback deals - even IF they are with Vodafone and IF they get the £5 deal - will receive what they thought they would. They aren't better off - although may end up better off than those in the high street, I accept. I am very impressed by Vodafone's response - and unimpressed by the other networks in this. Different customers DO get treated differently by the same organisation ALL the time though. Had Vodafone not helped as they did I would be a lot worse off - and am still substantially worse off. Then again, we haven't done anything wrong.
When I take out a contract I don't expect a network to bail me out. They do, however, make a lot of money from these dealers in the normal course of events and in some ways (morally rather than technically) the dealers are acting as their agents. You are signed up to a network contract which you don't even see at the time and a lot of it is based on trust. Many people did have complete and successful cashback deals with Mobile Affiliates previously. Presumably then only the dealer suffered - but probably for much of that time was compensated by those who got the cashback terms wrong and failed in their claims. I've always said most cashback claims HAVE to fail - and do - to make these offers work and no-one should go blindly into them. However, I detest the "nanny state" which increasingly intereferes in everything which moves or breathes and no doubt banning cashback deals will merely create other (as yet unforseen) problems. I also am suspicious about the way that virtually ALL cashback dealers started having problems paying claims at the same time - coincidentally at the start of the financial year. My suspicion is (somewhat confirmed by the owner of Chatterbox and other comments I've come across) that the networks started reducing and even witholding commissions. It would make sense with this becomming an (apparently) general problem at that time.
I think Vodafone have been marvellous - and I'm not totally convinced the non-cashback retail customers wouldn't, in fact, be TOO upset at the rescue deals. I agree with you - and have ALWAYS said - the networks have no real responsibility to bail anyone out (despite what many others think). I regard it is a wonderful gesture and ny esteem for them as a network and organisation has grown enormously as a result. Like all terms which differ between customers with the same product, they are gaining a lot of goodwill (hopefully) from many people who they have helped or offered special deals to.
You have made me think though! You make a convinving argument. I hadn't thought abou thet "normal" customers. On the other hand - do you really think they care that much about this?
You started by saying you were merely playing "devil's advocate" - but are you actually saying Vodafone etc. should not be doing this? Or that cashback deals shouldn't be allowed? I can't agree with those last two - despite your reasoned argument.0 -
Im just wondering here whether what Vodafone are offering people is based on the length of time they have had their contracts and therefore the amount they might have received back in cashback anyway (regardless of whether or not they actually got any of their cashback).
Mine is a 12 month contract and I was just about to make my first claim at 4 months so I wonder if that is why I received the £5 a month offer?
Any thoughts anyone?0 -
Apart from that Eljay, it makes a mockery out of the networks own offers to non cashback customers.
One more thing: I bet there are many Cashback whiners on here who wouldn't want to work for nothing. They begrudge anyone making a living.
A lot of people on here are just looking for way's to scam and are no better than the phoneboxdirect, dialamobile directors.0 -

I just pressed the 'thanks' button by mistake on your thread. I meant to hit the 'quote' and say I appreciate everyone has a right to their view but I don't think your attitude in the last paragraph particularly is very helpful to anyone0
