Commissions are paid out as a one off approximately 3 weeks after the connection takes place. No ongoing commission for consumer customers.

Commission on a £35 12mth Voda tariff is between £130 and £200 dependant on bonuses. Less the cost of the phone and that is the profit which the dealer can use to either keep, split some with the customer via cashback or offer gifts.

If you take a phone such as a Nokia 6300 the lowest sim free cost (not PAYG) is approx £90, therefore leaving £110 less delivery costs.

12 months free line rental deals on 12 month contracts are just not viable, unless these companies work on a very low redemption rate, 20% to be able to offer a phone and £420 back.

A little while ago I slammed an organisation for trying to ban cashbacks, but I think the time has come for a total ban on these type of promotions.

The consumer obviously doesn't understand how they work, and expects everything for nothing and screams blue murder if they don't manage to jump through all the hoops and actually receive the chequeback or the company they have agreed this deal with goes into liquidation.

Hopefully after the meeting in parliment yesterday, legislation will be produced for a total ban, unless each offer is specifically authorised by the network and the network will take responsibility if something goes wrong in the future.

Unfortunately this will mean that the deal hungry people on the forum will be going hungry and maybe the industry will go the way of the IPhone.

Pay for your phone, pay a high monthly rental and get a few minutes and texts in the bargain. (This won't happen, but you never know)

Also, The directors of these high volume cashback merchants should be held responsible for their companies and struck off for being a director for many years. I have looked at a couple of the directors accounts, and they have interest in about 6 Ltd companies. 3 of them relating to Mobile Media.

There previous accounts are not that impressive, but with the other companies they have they look like they will just move onto other things, with thier Swag.

i fully agree with this. lots of shops loose valuble trade to these sorts of deals which inevitably collapse, meaning the customer could probably have got a better deal from the shop anyway. to expect a free phone, x amount of mins and texts a month for free is just ludicrous. common sense says you don't get something for nothing like that
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
  • I've just had my call from the Vodafone department that are dealing with this and all they are willing to offer me on my three contracts is half price rental, they wouldn't budge

I did ask why they were offering £5 contracts to some customers, but we got cut off!

    Not happy :(

Maybe it depends on the tarrifs you have on those contracts - what are they? If they are the high tarrifs they aren't going to offer you £5 a month are they.

    500 mins, 250 text - £35 per month.

You say you got cut off, did you actually agree to accept their offer? If not, call them back and ask them to pass your details on to the department again and see if you have better luck next time.

I wait to see what deal I get when they call back on my hubbys account

Just received the same call. I also asked about the £5 contracts offered to some and was told it was for another company, not CNM. Something to do with missing contract information. All they could offer me was £17.50. Would have been good to get £5 but £17.50 is better than nothing so I'm not complaining.

I have emailed asking them to contact me again. I didn't accept the deal, but she went ahead and did it anyway.

    Good luck with yours.

    Reference 3

Just received call from 3 with regard to my price plan Video & Talk & Text 700. The t&cs on this plan have NOT changed in line with mix and match 700 plan, rounding up to a minute etc. Accordingly as t&cs have not changed I cannot cancel contract. What a suprise.

You can't get through to the department, you just have to wait for them to contact you. Initially I sent an email through their site, then chased them up tonight.

They rang me, but the number isn't returnable.
